Part 4 is finally here!! The last few months got so busy, but I would be lying if i said i didn't spend almost every day daydreaming about/ wishing i could be working on this instead; this project has been such a fun break from work and i feel like each part makes me crazier and crazier as things gets worse and worse (better and better) LOL. The composition has been sooo fun to play with, and I've been having a blast trying to figure out how to write these guys in character despite the angst and chaos :] And, considering this comic project kinda came out of nowhere and disrupted some other comic plans i had for dbhc, finding little ways to rearrange how i'm presenting lore has been really fun >:3

37. GUY.EXE — Superfruit

Okay so this song started as a joke, because I wasn’t originally going to have Skizz be an android; I thought it would be really funny if this Normal Guy was just always surrounded by his robot besties and the Perpetual Odd Guy Out. But, the more I listened to this song, the more I realized how much funnier it would be if the narrative/this song was basically “Doc, Impulse, Tango, Etho, and Mumbo all set out to create the ~perfect android~ together but are ridiculously silly and gay about it, and also the perfect android ends up being Skizz, and also also the design elements suggested by our fellow hermits here are uh. Not indicative of anything at all. Nope!” And the concept was just way too fun not to run with :]

Again with this one, you really won’t get the vibes here unless you know or listen to the song— the second shot is actually a redraw from the music video, so kudos if you got that reference LMAO I was SO hoping someone would request this number, so thank you joi >:D Incredible opportunity for me to draw these guys with ridiculous poses and expressions alongside finally getting to share Skizz’s spectacular origin story <3

Finally! Part 3 is here!! yippee!!! As a refresher, this takes place at the beginning of season 9, when Doc and Xisuma try to boot Etho back up after he shuts down pre-Season 8 Finale, set to the vibes of Joywave’s Destruction from DBHC Etho’s playlist! Ouguguh I’ve been looking forward to posting this part so much; it has some of my favorite shots so far… something about the grey-fade of Doc going into shock, something about the last two pages with xisuma and doc’s expressions… idk!! i really loved working on these :] Hope you’re enjoying the horrific, horrific ride!! =w=

As a partially insignificant but Special-To-Me note: Xisuma has always referred to dbhc doc as “Docm”— this is actually the first time X ever calls him “Doc.”

Most of the words written here are again lyrics from Joywave’s Destruction, but throughout lyrics here and there, I plan to incorporate a little bit of dialogue! I’ve been playing around a lot with lighting and fun poses and stuff, so this has genuinely been a blast to work on :] Expressions have always been my favorite thing to draw but uh. There’s something particularly special about getting to draw chill/stoic characters like doc and etho um. Going Through It >:3 (Same with X but we’ll get there later)

Listening to dbhc Etho’s playlist got me thinking about Joywave’s Destruction again, and even though I talked a little bit about this scene last year, I never really properly got to tell what exactly happened here… So, this is how it starts: Doc and X try to get Etho back online at the start of season 9 after his tragic shutdown at the end of season 8. Haunted and glitched out over the Last Life memories that made him shut down, Etho wakes up not… quite feeling like himself. Complications ensue.

If each android has a specific specialization or purpose, Impulse’s model is definitely made for durability and fast building! Sturdily built for heavier lifting and building, he’s best for long-term efficiency and being able to work for long periods of time without needing to go into into rest mode/standby or without needing fresh thirium and stuff. Also of note: Pearl thinks he looks cute with a goofy bow tie and top hat.

Some stronk boy dbhc impulse for those who have been looking for more of him :] I don’t remember if I specified earlier, but his model is specialized for heavy lifting and doing lots of physical work for long periods of time without needing to rest / reboot etc! Also featuring the fun outfit Pearl gave him :]

The perfect irony of dbh au Mumbo being a android specifically designed to Do Useful Things Successfully and him also being just a total buffoon 128% of the time. *Chef’s kiss*

(Mumbo was designed specifically for his redstone capabilities, but since this au started in season 8, Mumbo was also programmed to Not Kill Things as an effort from X to hopefully keep Grian from causing too much trouble… however grian and scar both have no clue and keep asking him to fetch things that Specifically Require Mob Drops which causes an endless cycle of mumbo creating ridiculous complicated contraptions to complete extremely mundane tasks, much to grian and scar’s bewilderment and amusement)
