please so in Appalachia there’s a saying you can use when someone asks, “how are you,” that goes “if I were any better, there’d be two of me.” Idk what it means tbh. You’re so good, you need two bodies to contain it? Who knows. We just say it.
Anyway one day I was reading about Appalachian English as a dialect, not just an accent, and that a lot of the phrases I used growing up and still do would make no sense to someone else out of context in another region and I thought that can’t be right. I talk like everyone else.
Then one day someone in Seattle asked how I was doing and I said, “well I ain’t twins.”
That’s not even the original saying. We just looked at each other in confusion like I got supernaturally possessed by the farmers’ almanac.

Hey umm, can we talk about how a cop killed two gay men just before Sydney Mardi Gras and they still want to put police in the fucking parade.

Gentle reminder: “bear witness” means “learn about what’s happening, so you can talk about it, agitate for change, and help where you can”
Not “you must watch X number of snuff films and look at X number of dead children, in order to be a good person”

I’ll never be over people saying Knuckles mansplaining feminism to Amy in Sonic Boom was good and progressive
Or that they took the reactionary argument of ‘to continue pointing out sexist ideas is to perpetuate sexism’ as feminist
Or that soccer of all things was the thing Amy was being told didn’t have sexism in it despite the state of US soccer

I saw a video titled ‘the faux feminism of miraculous ladybug’ and i’m just like when did it ever pretend to be feminist beyond, like, having a female protagonist

A lot clicked for me when my mom said the reason she was so reactive towards me as a kid was that she assumed intent behind things I did, rather than recognizing my behaviors for being normal kid behaviors or normal autism behaviors. So I got treated as if I was an adult who was intentionally doing things to upset her. She'd react to me like I had the maturity and wherewithal to do things in a cruel or manipulative way, making her life harder, when I was just existing. Just trying to learn how to cope and be a person myself. When she told me this I stopped in my tracks trying to process. Why would anyone's default assumption be that a kid is trying to antagonize them instead of like, struggling with something they're experiencing? But she was also raised the exact same way, treated like everything she did carried the weight of adult responsibility, not seen as a kid.

Palestine is still being bombed, children are still starving to death, pregnant women are still dying giving birth to still borns, supplies are still being denied, refugee camps are still being targeted for attacks, do not forget what these protests are for

So overseas we continue to give billions of dollars to fund genocide and target multiple countries supporting Palestine and opposing Israel and domestically we are using militarized police forces to go after college protestors all over the country, so what exactly would I be voting for Joe Biden for?

Those who protest against Israel's genocide are punished for antisemitism.
But for some strange reason, authorities have never cracked down on antisemitism any other time. Any other time, antisemitism is considered free speech.
It's almost as if they know damn well that protesting against Israel is not antisemitism.

Maybe this is just me but I am really surprised that 2023 was the first time a lot of people heard about Palestine because 2021 was when settlers tried expelling Palestinians from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah - this then escalated to the IOF attacking Palestinians in Al Aqsa and throughout the country (almost 300 Palestinians in Gaza were killed and thousands were injured) - there were massive protests all over the world in response. 2021 really laid the foundations for everything that is happening now but it surprises me how little people actually mention the uprising then or were even aware it was happening.
