Another Reminder to Vote

I've said it once and I'll say it a million times more, the people of the US need to hyperfocus on voting the fascists and ultra-conservatives out of office this year. Yes, that means looking into state and local elections. Yes, that might even mean voting for a Dem you might deem "not good enough," if the alternative is full-on fascism.

Please, people, I'm a US citizen watching this from abroad, I don't want the idea of visiting my home country to fill me with as much dread and anxiety as it currently does.

Remember, the only way for things to get better is to push for them to move that way in every way possible. That includes voting, protesting, making your voice heard and be sure to not sit out on these things. "No candidate is to my liking so I won't vote" ignores the people behind the scenes; if you have no actual left-wing party to vote for, the liberals have elements of progressive politics in them that can be pushed further if there is less conservatives to oppose them.

If you're unable to go out and protest in person, help out by showing support online and see if its possible to raise any money for good causes. Reblog stuff on how to help also, as information is an important tool. Just be sure to verify sources as to not spread misinformation in the process.

It is important to do both, and it is especially important to keep far-right politicans out of office no matter what, and the more pushback there is against them the more likely it is to stop their plans.

Don't be a doomer, do your best to keep hope up and look into how you can make things better. Inaction is a conservative stance, and nihilism is inherently bad for everyone.

The far-right wants you to call Dems and liberals for n*zies because it wins them votes.

We gotta find better ways to criticize them for actual ills within their party, such as too many being way into capitalism and keeping the status quo, without going "yeah all of them are essentially as bad as H*tler".

"It really sucks that [problem] is happening. It's affecting so many lives. We should be doing something about it." - Says what's going on, in an honest way - Motivates people to act to prevent or stop it. - Doesn't present things as unchangable.

"Welp, looks like [problem] is happening. Guess we live in the endtimes lol" - Feeds into people's anxiety, including OP's. - Instead of motivating change, demotivates action via defeatism - Gives the vibes of "Well we've lost, guess we can't do anything," allowing problems to persist and get worse.

What I'm trying to say is, there's a difference between posts that motivate change, and posts that exist only to accentuate anxiety and misery. I get needing to vent, but also consider that other folks also have that anxiety, and being hit dead-on with anxiety-ridden messages on social media will only make it worse.

Dear US Peeps

Please, please, please pay attention to your state and local elections this and every election cycle. I know that the current people in office are letting a lot of people down, and that's why I want people to pay special attention to state and local elections. The senators and governors will be the ones trying to write and pass laws, and as thus it's vital to find out who is most likely to fight for your rights, rather than the "rights" of corporations or other nations committing crimes against humanity.

And your local mayors and authorities will be the ones upholding laws, so if possible make sure to vote for those who respect the rights of others, and won't push for such restricting the rights of people who are already oppressed.

Elections are important, and I want to see more people focusing on their local and state elections, whenever possible.
