We all have our ways of grounding ourselves. Mine is to flee the civilized world and immerse myself in nature. When the husband gave me a green light for backpacking up Mauna Loa for 3 days with my besties- (possible snowstorms, wind chill and rain) I ran for it. Actually, I trudged for it. With snow gear borrowed from @kuu_o, @jcfiedler and @kac_con (thank you guys!!)I had no idea what I was preparing for - I'm an island girl!!! But even our island has snowy peaks (NOAA forecasted "a light dusting of snow" but it never came * phew *) - so cheers to chapped lips, lava fields and Olivine crystals.
