My assigned Font is Fira Sans
Fira Sans is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Erik Spiekermann, Ralph du Carrois, Anja Meiners, Botio Nikoltchev of Carrois Type Design and Patryk Adamczyk of Mozilla Corporation. Originally commissioned by Telefónica and Mozilla Corporation as part of the joint effort during the development of Firefox OS.
Fira sans is is a sans font and has 18 different styles that include italic which are Thin, extra light, light, regular, medium, semibold, bold, extrabold, and black.

Week 1: SDL
These were the ideas I had come up with for the 27th letter of the alphabet, I tried to have that connection of similarity between the other letters in the alphabet.
I couldn't choose between the 3 letters I had come up with so I chose 4 that I liked and thought that would fit well with the other letters putting them in the alphabet as you can see.
This was my favourite letterform from all the letterforms I had created.

Week 1: Introduction and Type
18th July 2022
Introduction
First class of semester 2 for Materials and Media II starting at 9am on a Monday.
The teachers introduced themselves to the class as there were different people in our new group of students and a new lecturer that I have not seen. The lecturers were Karol and Trajano.
Karol and Trajano went over what we would be doing over the next 12 weeks and the 2 projects within those 12 weeks. Going over what the projects were such as (Project 1: Type Specimen Book) (Project 2: Social Media Type Animations) which was presented through a slideshow also showing the amount of time needed to be put into these projects totalling to 150 hours.

When designing, have meaning in everything you design eg. Colour
We had a break and we came back to class to see our names being assigned a font we are to work with. The font I was assigned was Fira. I looked at the different styles of my font in illustrator and made a monogram with my assigned font.
After doing that our next task which was task 3 was to create type using shape, downloading the illustrator document given in canvas we had to replicate the type using shapes and attempt to create our name using the same style/ font.

Our SDL was to create the 27th letter in the alphabet
The aim of this activity is to develop a more acute understanding of, and appreciation for the features of letterforms that make up a typeface.
A name for the letter
A plane for it in the alphabet
A possible sound when spoken (this can be recorded).
You will focus on the stroke, shape, and details of the new individual letter.
