at the heart of all the misreadings of the show is the lack of understanding about race. white vampires and white fans never have to consider their race so they get to "enjoy" the queer aspects of the books and the show. meanwhile the black vampires and vampires of colour in the show and black fans and fans of colour cannot separate race and queerness. so
