just reread “meeting lister” and alice points out a few times in it that lister goes red in the face very easily. got me thinking about rowan and jimmy having competitions on who can get him to blush by saying the least lmao
Sometimes, I hope the tragic, sarcastic character who gives more love than they receive, hides how they’re feeling with jokes, and is generally seen as annoying but is also a fan favourite goes through something absolutely tragic. Just to see the reaction of the other characters. Will they cry? Will they regret not spending more time with them? Will they hate themselves for not being able/given the chance to help them? Will they be indifferent and not give a single shit at all?

Lister to Rowan (after the suitcases incident)
He would much rather Rowan yell at him, scream about how much of an idiot he is, look at him with hatred in his eyes and tell him he regrets ever approaching him, than to be ignored by one one his best friends.
Rowan (but this can also apply to Jimmy and Lister):
“You say, ‘I don't understand’ and I say, ‘I know you don't’ / We thought a cure would come through in time, now, I fear it won't / Remember lookin' at this room, we loved it 'cause of the light / Now, I just sit in the dark and wonder if it's time”
Jimmy (but this can also apply to Lister):
“I sent you signals and bit my nails down to the quick / My face was gray, but you wouldn't admit that we were sick”
Lister:
“And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier / Fighting in only your army, frontlines, don't you ignore me / I'm the best thing at this party (You're losing me) / And I wouldn't marry me either / A pathological people pleaser/ Who only wanted you to see her”
• He listens to “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” by Taylor Swift on loop and cries (the first time he heard it, he paused after the “GIVE ME BACK MY GIRLHOOD IT WAS MINE FIRST” part and sobbed)
• At the times he had sex with people, he’d always want to be in control of what was going on since his first time was through a traumatic experience and not being in control would bring him back
• He takes incredibly long showers and scrubs very hard because he feels “dirty”
• He thinks Jimmy and Rowan’s love for him is determined by how well he can play the drums because that was the main reason they wanted to be friends with him
• The first time he went trick or treating wasn’t until he met Jimmy and Rowan because he didn’t want his mom to spend money on a costume. Jimmy and Rowan were shocked to hear this, let him borrow an old costume, and they had the best time.
• Lister’s favourite trope is found family because he grew up poor and without anyone to lean on since his parents were divorced, his mother was always off working (probably unintentionally neglecting him), and nobody at school liked him or wanted to be his friend. In turn, he finds comfort with other strangers (those strangers being Jimmy and Rowan)
• As they work to improve their friendship, whenever Lister sees Rowan is upset, he bakes him a treat to cheer him up (or he proposes that the three of them bake together)
• Lister has gotten more comfortable opening up to both Jimmy and Rowan so whenever he’s had a bad day, he goes into one of their rooms to sleep with them
• Fame and his addiction distanced him from his mom more than ever before so he feels uncomfortable asking to spend time with her even though he REALLY wants to
• His Twitter posts are updates about The Ark, memes, random thoughts, and reposts of other SA survivors
• Constant stabbing jokes
• Gets constant calls and texts from Jimmy asking if he’s all right and where he is whenever he’s out by himself after what happened in Kent
Guys, help, english project related! I’m supposed to think of symbols to represent character, events, ideas, or themes in my book (I Was Born For This) but I can barely come up with any symbols for the girls, Angel, Juliet ,and Bliss!!
