Bucky was going to kill him. Steve had promised an easy in-and-out mission, something low stakes to get back into the groove after some time off in Wakanda. This was everything but that. Bucky was snapped out of his murderous thoughts by a bullet whizzing by his head, making him curse as he sped up. These HYDRA soldiers were hot on his tail, and not letting up. It didn’t help that he had been hit, the pain coursing through his right thigh a constant reminder of the bullet lodged in the flesh. As he tumbled through the treeline into a clearing, he saw an old barn, the moonlight reflecting off the tin roof seemed like a beacon of hope. Without any other options, he skillfully hopped over the fence, ducked into the barn, held his breath, and listened. The soldiers came exploding through the treeline and stopped, seeing no sign of Bucky anywhere. Bucky listened carefully as he heard them approach the barn and stop. Their boots crunched on the fallen leaves as they circled the barn. His heart was in his throat, blood rushing in his ears but after a moment that seemed like forever, they left. Bucky didn’t move for almost an hour, listening and making sure that he was in the clear before he pulled out his transponder. He looked down to activate it and saw that it had been trashed by a stray bullet. He groaned out a curse and threw the useless device across the barn. He tried to stand but the pain in his leg prevented him from supporting any weight so he pushed himself up against the wall, deciding that he’d just rest for a bit.
He was on the verge of sleep when a song started to flow through his mind, louder than it had been since, ever, causing him to startle. See, everyone had a soulmate, something Bucky never believed in, having never heard any music in the 40’s. After he fell off the train, he figured whoever they were would be long dead by now. However, since coming out of recovery, he started to hear the music again. Part of HYDRA’s programming, he found out, was to block the music that would be pumping into his mind from his soulmate but now that he was free from all of the things that HYDRA put in his head, he started hearing music. He didn’t think much of it, as it was always quiet and in the background like a thought, but this song was so loud that it sounded like it was being whispered in his ear.
“Let's get out, we can leave this city. Let's drive to the open air. Yeah, the countryside is so pretty. With the wind blowing in your hair. We can look back someday Baby, don't you understand? That we only get one love, I wanna make it count. Honey, come on now and take my hand”
It was a soft melody, the gentle guitar soothing his frayed nerves, and just as quickly as it startled him awake, it soothed him back to sleep.
Tumblr media
He was woken up by something cold and wet nuzzling into his cheek. Bucky groaned and tried to shift away from the intrusion but he was too stiff from his awkward sleeping predicament to move very fast. Swatting at whatever the hell was messing with him, he was greeted by more music flooding his senses. This time, even louder than the last. The guitar was vibrating his bones and the drums rattling his teeth when all of a sudden there was a gasp and the music promptly stopped.
“Jake! Get away from him! Jesus, hey guy, are you ok?”
A panicked voice called out as the presence next to him disappeared. Bucky shot open his eyes and shot up into a position ready to defend himself when he saw a woman staring at him. Her light blue button-up was tucked into a pair of old worn-out jeans with a dark belt securing them in place around her hips. A large black and white dog was standing at her side, tail wagging furiously back and forth as its warm brown eyes stared at him.
Bucky blinked, all the memories of what happened yesterday came flooding back into the forefront of his brain.
“Uh- yeah, I uh- I think so.” He groaned, his leg screaming at him in pain causing him to hiss out in discomfort.
“Are you sure? You don’t seem like it, here, let me help you.” The woman walked over, tucking an arm underneath his and wrapping it around him, hoisting him onto his feet and leading him to a bench on the other side of the barn. She gently placed him down and ran her eyes over him when she noticed the dried patch of blood on his thigh.
“Shit, have you been shot?!” Bucky was too busy gawking at how stunning this woman was to notice that he was bleeding again, her words caused him to look down where she was staring.
“Oh. Yeah, I guess I was. I kind of forgot about that.” Bucky shrugged as he watched the woman wander off to another area.
“How in the hell do you just forget that you were shot?!” She called out in between the slams of cabinet doors. Bucky took a deep breath, opening his mouth to respond when he noticed the dog, who he presumed to be the ‘Jake’ the woman had called out to, resting his head on Bucky’s non-injured thigh. He ran his fingers through the soft silky fur of the pup’s head, looking back up when he heard the woman's rapidly returning footsteps. She appeared from around an old tractor, med kit in tow. She saw the dog vibrating happily underneath Bucky’s attention and smiled softly.
“Jake! Leave
” She paused looking at Bucky for his name.
“Bucky. You can call me Bucky.” She smiled.
“Y/n. Nice to meet you Bucky.” Bucky’s heart flipped in his chest at the sound of his name rolling off her tongue. His eyes followed her as she crouched down next to him, placing the med kit on the bench.
“Are you ok with me taking care of this or would you rather do it,” Y/n asked as she began to rifle through the box looking for all of the necessary supplies. Bucky was shocked, she just found this strange man in her barn and was going to help him out instead of calling the cops. He realized she was waiting for an answer, her eyes full of worry staring at him, waiting for an answer.
“Or, um, I can take you to the hospital, but that's a bit of a drive.” Bucky just shook his head.
“No, no. It’s fine. If you leave the supplies here I can take care of it. Thanks.” Y/n nodded standing up.
“Of course! I’ll get you a change of clothes. My brother left some clothes here, he’s about your height. Hopefully, they fit.”
Before Bucky could say anything else, Y/n walked out of the barn and disappeared, leaving Bucky alone with Jake and a med kit. Bucky gave the dog a final pet before tending to injury.
Once, he was cleaned up and in a fresh pair of clothes, Y/n brought him to the little farmhouse for some breakfast. Bucky sat on a stool watching Y/n cook.
“So how did you end up in my barn? It’s not every day that I get up to start chores and find a man in there.” She asked, flipping over the pancake in the skillet. Bucky chuckled scratching the back of his neck, trying to decide what to say.
“Well, uh
It’s kind of a long story...”
Tumblr media
A few days had passed since breakfast that morning, him spilling his entire life life story to this woman. She promised to try and help him get back to his team, however, the first snow of the season had fallen that same evening and there was no way for them to drive to the town some thirty miles away with the ice and snow covering the roads.
“Being in the middle of nowhere has its advantages and disadvantages.” She had told him, shoveling a path out to the barn the next morning. “The fact that no plow trucks come through here just happens to be one of the shitty things.”
Bucky felt strange just sitting around while she worked so he offered to help out while he was there. A sort of thank you for inadvertently saving his life. The more he worked around the farm, the more music he heard playing through his mind, but every time he tried to find the source, it would disappear and Y/N would appear from around a corner, tucking something into her pocket and then asking Bucky a question as she approached.
The same thing was happening again as Bucky heard the first few chords from a new song drift into his mind, the same volume as the song that first night he slept in the barn.
“Fell in love with a girl that's a few years younger. Was a sister of a friend, didn’t see it coming.”
Bucky set down the bale of hay he had started to take to the horses, to follow the music. He walked over towards the door of the barn, the music getting louder with each step he took.
“I was hanging with him when I heard the door open.”
He pushed open the door and looked out to see Y/n and Jake walking towards the barn. She had earbuds tucked in under her hat, humming softly, and with each step she took towards the barn the louder the music in Bucky's ears got. He felt his heart start to race, his mouth ran dry.
“She walked into the room with a smile and that’s when, her eyes looked at me and said quietly,”
Y/n looked up to see Bucky staring at her and plucked the earbuds out of her ears and tucked them into her pocket, the music playing in Bucky’s mind disappearing with them.
“Hey, Bucky! I was lookin’ for ya!” She smiled at him, continuing to walk closer. “I was wondering if you could help me with something a little different.” She was standing right in front of him now, her bright eyes locking onto his. His pulse started to quicken as he hoped the cold masked the blush forming on his cheeks.
“W-what might that be?” Y/n giggled and placed a hand on his shoulder sparks flooding throughout his body as she pushed him back into the barn.
“I have to round up the cows today, since it’s snowed that means all of the bot flies are gone so we can go ahead and deworm them. I was hoping you could tag along. I know you’ve probably never done anything like this but it would really help me out a ton.” She smiled sweetly at him as she paused by the tack room, heading inside to grab her saddle and other equipment for the task at hand.
“Uh sure, I’ll give it a go,” Bucky replied, following her into the small room, grabbing the other saddle sitting on the rack. It was then Bucky decided that he would do just about anything to get Y/n to smile at him like that again. It was so warm and bright that he felt ten times warmer than he did just moments ago.
“Awesome! Thank you so much, Buck! If you want to tack up Shanty I’ll hop on Zippy and we can go bring those cows up to the cattle shed!”
Bucky saddled up Shanty with some difficulty due to the fact he had no idea what the hell he was doing, but with Y/n’s help, the pair were ready to go. Bucky watched as Y/n skillfully mounted the red horse who was stomping around impatiently waiting for her to get on. Taking a deep breath, he carefully pulled himself up into the saddle and nodded for Y/n to lead the way. As the pair began to jog through the snow Bucky called out,
“I hope you know I haven’t been on a horse since 1943, an’ never used em’ on a farm before so I have no idea what I’m doin’ darlin’.”
Y/n let out a laugh that seemed to sing off of the ice that covered a nearby pond. She looked over her shoulder and Bucky was convinced he had never seen a more beautiful sight. The morning sun reflected off the snow, causing its golden glow to dance across the landscape. Its golden rays were blocked by the brim of her dark cowboy hat, but the leather band almost seemed to be turned into gold as the beams of light that slipped around the edges wove into the intricate braid. Her eyes sparkled with something so warm and bright that Bucky was sure he was seeing an angel in person.
“Don’t worry too much!” She replied, oblivious to the effect she had on the man.
“Shanty’s a pro. She can basically do this on her own, she just prefers having someone on her back or a little extra guidance.” Y/n explained as the cow herd came into view. “Just point her in the right direction, she will do the rest.”
Bucky nodded and watched as Y/n kicked Zippy forward toward the cows and once she rounded the back, the herd started running in his direction. Gripping onto the reins, he pointed Shanty in the direction and when the cows tried to jump out of line, Shanty would run and slide to a stop, forcing the cows to stay in a group as they ran towards the cattle shed.
The journey back to the cattle shed was considerably more work than the ride out, constantly trying to keep the frisky cows from darting off one way or another but eventually, they were all secured in the barn, Y/n smiled at Bucky.
“Thank you for your help. I can take it from here. Meet you inside for dinner? I prepped some ravioli last week that’s in the freezer.”
Bucky smiled and agreed, leading Shanty and Zippy back to the barn, the goofy grin remaining on his face all the way there.
Tumblr media
Bucky grumbled angrily as the wrench slipped out of his hand. He reached out from under the tractor with his left hand when he remembered that his left hand was, essentially, an all-purpose tool. After finally getting the stubborn bolt off, he pushed himself out from underneath the tractor and took a sip of the hot cider in his mug that Y/n insisted he take with him after dinner. In between bites of the best ravioli that he had ever eaten, Y/n mentioned that the tractor had a bust pipe and that he had gotten the parts but hadn’t had the time to fix it herself so naturally, Bucky set off to fix it as soon as the dishes were done.
Just as Bucky was about to get back to work, he heard a new melody whisper in his ear.
I'm flying, shining, bright like just like the Leonids, Heading for you.
Wiping his hands off on an old shop towel, Bucky made his way back to the farmhouse, and with each step he took, the music got a little louder.
Slowly, but surely, lighting up the pyramids, On my way to you
Kicking off his snow and mud-covered boots in the mud room, Bucky followed the sound of the music, to the back porch where he found Y/n sitting with a mug in her hands gazing up at the stars.
Ooh, ooh. I've fallen like a star for you
The music was so loud at this point, that Bucky was convinced that it was integrating itself into the very fiber of his being. Taking a steadying breath, he reached out a hand and placed it on Y/n’s shoulder startling her her slightly before realizing it was just him. He watched as she hit the pause button, and the music that was flowing so clearly stopped. Bucky felt his heart rate pick up. There is no way that he's finally found her after all this time.
“Hey Buck, What going on?” Y/n asks softly, offering a smile
“Can I see your Phone?” Bucky asks all in one breath.
Puzzled Y/n hands it to him. “Uh, sure why?”
“I just want to try something” He mumbled as he put the earbuds in and walked away from her to the opposite end of the porch. He locked eyes with her and hit play.
He watched as Y/n’s eyes grew wide, her hands flying up to cover her mouth. She heard it too. Bucky swallowed as he took a shaky step toward her, the music getting louder with each step he took until he was standing face-to-face with her.
Ooh, ooh. I've fallen like a star for you
“I think you’re my soulmate” He whispered, reaching out to cup her face with his flesh hand, the metal one still holding onto the phone.
Y/n blinked a few times in surprise before surging forward and tackling him in a hug planting a firm but warm kiss on his lips. Bucky blinked in surprise but responded immediately, wrapping his other arm around her and pulling her flush against his body.  Eventually, they parted and Y/n smiled up at him.
“Does that mean you’ll stay here with me?” She whispered.
Bucky pressed his forehead against hers before he replied, “Forever and always, for as long as you’ll have me.”

Pretty As A Picture - Chapter 1
Marvel
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader x Bucky Barnes
Tumblr media
Summary: When Bucky fell from the train, their soulmate was told he was gone. When Steve Rogers disappeared into the ice, their soulmate was again told one her soulmates were gone. But she didn't believe it. Couldn't believe it. Committed to a mental health institute, she dies of a broken heart. That's at least what the hidden S.H.I.E.LD files say, but if that's the case than why is there a photo of her. A photo that shows her side by side two redhaired Avengers.
Warnings will be per chapter.
For this fic reader will be British, but let your imagination replace if needed.
Chapter Summary: The team are back together and their soul family back in place. Emotions run high, their exhausted and a photo is about to shake Bucky to his core.
Chapter Warning: Mentions of death, sad Bucky.
Natasha looked around the room, scanning her weary team mates. Her soul family. It had taken a while to get here but they had. Sure Tony and Steve continued to be at each other’s throats and Bucky’s face got more broody by the day but they were together.
Knowing Wanda was also back in the Compound, Vision at her side as they settled into their new quarters brought a smile to her face.
The rush of emotions of everyone being together had been too much for Wanda, and when Steve and Tony had squared up to each other for the third time in as many hours, Rhodes and Wilson forced to keep them apart as Bucky packed a bag to leave, she’d had enough.
Natasha had ushered Bruce away to avoid a code green, as Vision had tried to do the same with Wanda. But Wanda had reached her breaking point and had enough of the arguments, the intense negative energy that surrounded her soul family had brought her to breaking point. Her nights were plagued with nightmares about her family, Pietro, and her days were a living nightmare with her soul family at each other’s throats. Wanda had screamed as she’d nearer collapse.
“Enough!” she’d yelled as Vision looped an arm around her waist to keep her upright, “do you see? You never see do you? The damage you’re doing? To our family? To each other?!”
She paused as she took a breath.
ïżœïżœI’m leaving.”
There were calls of her name as Vision led her from the room. An hour later they were in a Quinjet over the Atlantic, directions to a safe house and a contact of Natasha’s. The rest of them didn’t speak to each other for a week following Wanda and Vision’s departure, the only exception their own soulmates. When Natasha wouldn’t say where they were, they didn’t speak to her for a few days longer.
Wanda’s return came three months later, sure there was still bickering but they’d learnt the hard way to keep it away from her. As much as they’d had preferred a longer break, missions and their skillsets had meant a need for them to return.
The Hydra clean up had originally been going well but a repeat of dead leads and bad intel had caused any more arrests to dry up.
As the digital map displayed across the meeting room showed the dead ends and places still be searched. Natasha scanned the faces of her team mates and soul family in the room. Steve was seemingly staring into thin air. Tony flipped a pen between his hands. Rhodey rubbed his eyes. Sam had his eyes on a screen full of text but the movement of his eyes indicated he was reading the same sentence over and over again. Bucky stared at a spot on one of the maps. A no go area in part of Germany. An old Nazi bunker that they had very little chance of getting permission to search even with the New Accords.
Unless she asked for a favour. A favour from you. Her attention was brought away from her stray thoughts as Bruce wrapped himself around her, a soft kiss to her forehead.
“They need a break.”
She smiled warmly at him.
“Guys, let’s take a break, half an hour and regroup.”
The only responses were sighs, stretches and yawns. Bucky was the first one up and out of the room rubbing his hand down his face in frustration as he went. Tony’s voice broke the silence.
“Is there a reason he keeps staring at the same spot?”
“The same reason I keep rereading this.” Sam replied pointing at the screen.
“It’s one of the no go areas left from the war, but it feels to me like that’s the next stop” Steve added.
“Has he been there before?” Tony asked.
“We both have.” Steve replied.
“Recently or before?” Asked Natasha, referencing before Steve was in the ice and Bucky was in cyro.
“Before.”
“Look if it’s a no go area you know the chances of us getting in there are real slim.” added Rhodey.
“Not necessarily.” added Nat.
“Let me guess” Sam enquired “you know a guy?”
“A girl actually.” she replied.
Tony cocked an eyebrow and glanced round at his soul family.
“Spill it Romanoff.”
Meanwhile down the hall Bucky splashed cold water on his face. He knew the next spot was likely to be that bunker and he knew he wasn’t going to like it. If they could even get in there it would bring back too many memories.
Memories of when they’d raided it. Memories of when he was back there twelve years later. He needed coffee or something stronger. Where was Thor when he needed him.
He headed out of the bathroom and along the corridor to the coffee station and began to start up the machine and root through the snacks. In the distance he could hear the hums of Wanda from the printing room. The room was barely used, the team opting for electronic devices or projections instead but Steve still liked paper copies and every mission had a pack of freshly printed paper maps just in case. Two packs in fact. One for use and one just in case.
Every time Steve would drop the two packs on to the meeting room table or fiddle with them on his lap in the Quinjet he would give Bucky a sad smile and nod his head, which Bucky would return.
It was silly really how things reminded them of their shared soulmate. Their soulmate had prepared maps for British Special Forces during the war and their eye to detail had been the best around, making Peggy quick to recruit their girl to her team. The fates leading her to Steve first and then Bucky. Their soulmate would do anything to keep them safe. Nagging Howard for better equipment and weapons. Telling him to “quit flirting and stop trying to fondue anything in a skirt and bloody get on with it”.
Howard never let on he was slightly scared of their soulmate, not to any of their faces but the panic in his eyes gave him away. Steve had nicknamed their soulmate a Spitfire, like the British fighter plane. The look on their girls face said he shouldn’t have.
Her way of keeping them safe was to slip extra bandages into their gear, sew small bits of metal into their suits to cover key areas but not too much to weigh them down. Then there was the packs. Always two packs of maps, just in case. Bucky sometimes wondered if their girl slipped extra copies to the other Howling Commandos.
“Can’t have you getting lost lads. You Yanks are awful with directions.”
Bucky would always tap her ass playfully as she passed by for that comment.
His thoughts were soon snapped back by Vision’s soft voice.
“James?”
Bucky cleared his throat to answer, and wiping his face roughly when he realised he was crying.
“Yeah? You need something?”
“Actually I wanted to check if you needed anything.”
“No, I’m good, thanks Vis”
“Were you thinking of her again? If you’d like to talk about her, Wanda and I would happily listen.”
Bucky turned away, dipping his head, gripping the counter of the coffee station. He tried to take a deep breath but it came out shuddered.
“James, I maybe speaking out of turn and uninvited but there is no shame in grief and you certainly don’t need to hide it from us. For anyone in the outside world it is a lifetime ago but for you, it is not, and there is no timeframe or timeline for grief.”
Bucky heard Wanda’s soft footsteps approach.
“James, take it from someone that’s knows, it is better to talk than it is to keep it inside. You listened to me talk about my brother, I’d be honoured to hear about her.”
Bucky nodded and turned towards them both teary eyed.
“Whenever you want us to, we’ll listen” added Vision.
He rubbed his face and nodded again. It was then he noticed a pile of photos in Wanda’s arms. All different sizes clutched in her hands, he was puzzled as he had barely seen a printed photo since being out of cyro, Sam telling him that people don’t often print them anymore. He then noticed Vision was holding picture frames.
“Did you print these? I didn’t think people did that anymore?”
“Not always but I like them,” Wanda answered “reminds me of home. This one Tony found for me on an old friend’s social media account” as she handed him a picture of Pietro.
“This one is when we were away” she handed him another. A picture of the couple near a lake, Scotland, Bucky thought to himself.
“This one is from” Wanda started only to stop abruptly as some of the photos scattered to the floor. She cursed in Sokovian as she went to pick them up.
“I’ve got it” Bucky said as he reached for them. He passed the first two up to Wanda but the third made him freeze.
To anyone else it was a normal picture. Three friends side by side. Two red heads and a (Y/H/C). Only it wasn’t a normal photo at all. Because alongside his two redheaded soul sisters, Wanda with a soft smile and Natasha looking nonchalant, was another woman. A woman that haunted his dreams.
His soulmate.  Their girl.

dancing like butterfly wings || park seonghwa
Tumblr media
summary: you've been feeling a little down lately as you experience another flare up, and not wanting to feel like a burden, you try to to hide it from your soulmate.
pairing: seonghwa x reader
genre: fluff, soulmate au
warnings: some depressive thoughts, insecurities, mc going through it, disabled reader (POTS), mentions of vomit/vomiting

for my disabled people who sometimes just wanna be taken care of ❀
-----------------------------------
It wasn't like you always wanted to feel this way, incompetent and unable to do anything. You felt like a complete burden.
Even Seonghwa felt like he had to stay back with you, instead of going and exploring the city before the concert tonight with the rest of the boys.
You woke up feeling a little nauseous, until it was time to get up and then you had to run to the bathroom, hoping you didn't wake up your sleeping soulmate. He had a long night last night, having a concert and then doing a live with Hongjoong and Wooyoung.
He didn't get into the room until after two am, practically falling into bed beside you and pulling you into his arms.
You closed the door, hoping it would block the sound of you, but it didn't. You could feel the hand rubbing at your back as he holds your hair back with his other hand.
"Go away Hwa. I don't want you to see this." You cried out, frustrated with yourself and your body, thoughts moving back to why you couldn't have a normal body.
"Baby, why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling well? Is that why you went to bed early?" He asked, trying to figure out if you were in a flare up or just sick, or both.
He hated seeing you like this, and always tried to do his best to help you prevent flare ups, but sometimes you couldn't prevent one. Noe even with all the preparation in the world.
"Please Hwa." You are practically sobbing now, but you had managed to stop throwing up.
Seonghwa moved you so you were lying against his chest, a warm wash cloth already in hand as he then helped clean you up and wipe away the sweat that accumulated on your forehead and brow.
It had taken a little while, and the ignoring of your pleading, to get you back into bed and curled up against his side. He had already messaged the boys about your condition and that he would be staying back with you.
You hated that your body decided that now was the time to attack itself, a flare up of your disability leaving your heart rate unable to lower and your blood pooling making you nauseous and unable to lay still.
"Alright, my love. I have your salty snacks, and your drink. How about we put a movie on, hmm?" Seonghwa looks down at you after pulling you back into his side as he gets back into the large, comfy hotel bed.
"Please Seonghwa, I can take care of myself. You've always wanted to explore this city. it's okay, I promise." You try to tell him, but he doesn't hear it.
"That's the thing, my love. You don't have to take care of yourself. Not anymore. Not when you have me." He squeezes your shoulder and places a soft, loving kiss to your temple before moving to grab the remote and look for a movie for the too of you to watch.
-*-*-
*knock*knock*
You both turn to the door, hearing voices and a small screech before the door opens, Wooyoung falling in with Yunho holding the door key and the rest of the boys peering inside.
"Guys? What's going on?" Seonghwa asks the boys, mainly looking towards Hongjoong who just looked at you both sheepishly.
"Well, we heard you weren't feeling well and wanted to cheer you up." Hongjoon responded, holding up a bouquet of your favorite flowers, already in a cute vase.
That's when you both noticed the rest of the boys were all holding different items or bags, with the legos in Jongho's grasp catching your eye.
You couldn't help the tears that threatened to fall from your waterline, seeing how much the boys cared for you.
You tried to sit up so you could get out of bed only for San to move forward, propping up the pillows behind you and preventing you from leaving the bed.
"No, it's okay! We'll just sit with you!" San grinned at you, making a small smile grow on your own lips. He sat down and put his bag on the bed, opening it to reveal your favorite takeout. You didn't even know they had it in this city.
"See, baby. You don't have to take care of yourself. We will do it."

Despite the normal day you were having, bosses who never seemed to learn how to use their volume button properly and coworkers who continued to get into your space despite you constantly reminding them how much you enjoy your singular personal space, you felt the tension building in your body like no other.
You could feel how tense your shoulders grew as the day trudged on, shuffling, and crumbling on the invisible weight that seemed to settle write in the crook of your neck and shoulder. “Coat hanger pain” is what your doctor had called it, another symptom of your undesirable stress and anxiety. No massage on earth could help it though, as you had been to numerous masseuses, some even recommended by your doctor. None had worked or even lessened your pain.
By lunch time you had decided you needed a break, a well-deserved break, if anything. So, you had scheduled your couple-day wellness time, something your company thankfully provided despite your supervisors absolutely hating that they couldn’t deny the requests. You would be off work for the next three days, as well as the weekend, so five days total.
That should definitely be enough time to relax and take the ever-growing load off your shoulders, you think, more like you hope.
In addition to the break, you decided you would also treat yourself to your favorite take-out, having been depriving yourself of it as of late due to work.
It had been a split second decision, but something completely worth it as you kick your front door closed behind you and retreat to the couch, almost immediately dropping your work bag and coat onto the floor in favor of placing your food onto the small table that you had placed in front of your couch.
You tried to ease your mind, empty your thoughts as you watched mindless reality television, but your attention was caught by a program about the research and cause of unbonded.
Unbonded were people who never received a soul bond on the morning of their 18th birthday. There are a few well known soul bonds.
Soul transport, where one member of the soul bond transports to their other.
Soul glow, where upon being in the presence of your soul mate, your body will glow in an attempt to draw the two souls together, only the people in the bond can see the glow.
Soul bloom, where a crown of flowers favored by the other soulmate will appear and will only go away once you touch your soulmate.
Soul string is the last well known one, where the “red string of fate” ties you to your soulmate, growing thicker or disappearing depending on how close or far away your soulmate is.
You woke up to nothing. Not even one of the rarer soul bonds like the soul mark. You had waited, days, weeks, and now eight years later, you had resigned yourself to the fact you were one of the unbonded. It was something that constantly hung on the back of your mind, watching your friends and even coworkers discover their bonds and finding their soulmates over the years.
But it wasn’t meant to be for you.
Suddenly feeling a little nauseous, you put the bite of food you were about to eat back into the take-out container, your thoughts getting to you again as the program continued to play. You had always dreamed about having a soulmate, someone who would love you unconditionally and take care of and be there for you.
You had been so used to doing everything yourself, by yourself, that you secretly wished for someone to take care of you. Someone who you could just turn your thoughts off with and they would make all the important decisions for you. Maybe you just wanted ot be babied, you didn’t know, but you were tired of being alone and being crushed by the seemingly unbearable weight hanging from your shoulders at any given time.
“Unbonded are found to be people who are deemed “unlovable” and individuals who don’t fit in with soc—” You can’t help but want to throw your remote at the man who spoke as you turned the television off.
You had heard those words way too many times now and grew resentful at how those words hit right into your core.
Yeah, you did feel unlovable sometimes, but you didn’t think that warranted not being gifted a soulmate by the universe. You tried to be better, to help those in need never when you yourself needed help, thinking that then, maybe then, the universe might take pity on you.
“No!” you exclaimed firmly. There was no way you were gonna set yourself up for more unbearable thoughts and tear stained pillows. Not again.
“You’re gonna sit, enjoy your food, drink some wine, and watch your favorite movie. This is a well-earned break and you are going to enjoy it.” You told yourself, trying to break out of the negative thoughts and mood you put yourself in.
And that’s exactly what you do. You indulge in the food, watch your favorite movie, laugh out loud at your favorite parts, and even have a glass of wine or two.
But you still go to bed dejected, taking the words of the program from earlier to heart. Maybe you were unlovable and unworthy of a soulmate. Maybe it was time for your dreams of having a soulmate to come to an end and accept that it just wasn’t meant to be for you.
A small tear fell from your waterline as you fell asleep, heart and head heavy at the thought of your future.
-*-*-
You dreamt you were enveloped in the best hug ever, big arms wrapped around you and small but loving kisses placed against your temple. You remember burrowing into the person’s chest, reveling in the warmth you were feeling and the sense safety you were experiencing. It was like nothing you had felt before.
Seungcheol’s dream almost mirrored your own, his arms wrapped tightly around you, almost covering you with his entire body, holding you against him and keeping anyone else from seeing you so vulnerable. He loved how you fit just perfectly against him, how you curled deeper into his embrace, your nose nuzzling against his clothed chest, taking in his comforting scent.
He couldn’t help but to bring one of his hands down your hip and to the back of your thigh, cupping it and moving your so your leg was propped up over your hip. He needed to feel closer to you, desiring to feel closer to you in any way he can.
Neither of you wanted the dreams to end, but your phone alarm drew you from your slumber.
“Fuck.” You bite out, having forgotten to turn your alarm off the night before. You try to untangle yourself from the warm weight you felt on top of you, holding you to them—wait a minute.
You open your eyes, alert and scared at the fact that someone was in your room, in your bed with you, only to stare into the sleepy, closed eyed face of Scoups from your favorite kpop group, Seventeen.
You blink heavily, trying to get rid of the sleep still in your eyes, almost hoping that your eyes weren’t lying to you. They had to be, right? There is no way your ult bias of all people was currently wrapped around you, holding you tightly to their chest.
Your body tenses in shock, still for a couple of seconds before you try to forcefully remove yourself from the man’s embrace, surprise and slight embarrassment fill your body as he only tightens his hold on you.
“Stop moving, baby.” You haven’t practiced your Korean in a while, but you knew you didn’t misunderstand his words as he tries to nuzzle into your hair.  “Go back to sleep.”
“Uhm, excuse me, sir? I’m not sure how you got here, but I am really freaking out.” You whisper, not wanting to break the atmosphere but also wary of what kind of reaction Scoups will have once he realizes he isn’t at home in South Korea but in your bed in America.
However, he doesn’t react like you thought he would. You imagined him pushing you away, maybe in disgust or fear, and angry yelling asking you what was going on or how he got here. None of that happened.
“His eyes opened, not recognizing the room he was in or the person he was holding, but he knew exactly what had happened. Only one thing could explain what had happened to him.
Smiling down at you, he couldn’t begin to think of how to express his excitement, only holding you closer whispering as he did so.
“Finally.” You watched the word leave his lips, this time in English. Confusion flooded you as your eyebrows furrowed at his statement. You couldn’t understand what was going on.
You had to be dreaming still, that was it.
You were dreaming.
But your alarm was still going off.
“Uh, sir? I’m not sure exactly what you mean, but if you could let go of me, that would be nice.” You try again, hoping that some sense of the situation you found yourselves in would hit him, but it didn’t seem to work.
“I’m never letting you go, not now that I’ve finally found you.”
Despite appearing unbonded, Seungcheol had always known he had a soulmate, had a feeling gripping his soul and wanting him to follow the feeling. He had always desired to have a soulmate, someone to take care of and who would understand his sometimes overprotective and possessive nature. He knew he would wait as long as he needed to, for any semblance of a bond to kick in, despite people trying to convince him otherwise. It wasn’t normal, he had been told, for late soul bonds to occur. But here he was, holding his soulmate to his chest, in her room only the heavens know where.
Soul Transport.
His bond with you transcended space and time and brought him to where and when you needed him the most. He could see the tear stains on your cheeks, how puffy and red your eyes were. He had the sudden desire to hide you from the world, scaring away all of your troubles and worries and keeping you with him at all times.
You would never be subjected to taking care of yourself ever again. Not while he was there to do it for you. All of your wants, needs, and desires would be met by him. Your soulmate.
You were his soul.
The only thing to snap him out of whatever trance he was still in, smiling softly down at you, was his phone ringing.
Scoups reached down to the pocket of his sweatpants to grab his phone, giving you the opportunity to scramble out of his arms and bracing yourself across the room. You observed the idol, watching as what seemed to be disappointment crossed his face for a second before he answered his phone.
“Hello?” Seungcheol answered the call, already knowing one of his members was the one calling him, probably wondering where he disappeared too.
“WHERE ARE YOU?! We’ve looked everywhere. We have a meeting with our managers in twenty minutes and you’re nowhere to be found!” Jeonghan yelled into the phone, making him wince and pull away for a second.
“I’ve found her.” Was all he said, smile growing on his lips again.
“Huh? What are you talking about? What do you mean you found her?” This time it was Joshua on the phone, grumbling coming from the background.
“I’ve found my soulmate.” Seungcheol was barely able to get his sentence out before he heard screaming on the other end.
You, on the other hand, was just lost in complete shock at the situation you woke up to. You went to bed last night crying about not having a soulmate and being unlovable, and now, now you had not only a soulmate, but your soulmate was your ult bias from your favorite kpop group.
There was no way in hell you weren’t dreaming.
Either that or the universe was really fucked up at the moment, giving you false hope only to probably take it back.
You couldn’t help but to watch Scoups, sitting up in your bed and holding one of your plushies to his chest, smiling as he listened to whoever was talking on the phone and responding back. You were too in your head to even begin to try and translate the conversation, caught up in the way he was just smiling at you, so softly and with all the love in the world.
You weren’t gonna lie, it was making you a little uncomfortable. You were so unused to anyone looking at you in a positive light that you didn’t know how to react or think.
A hand gently grabbing onto your own snapped you out of your thoughts, looking up to see Scoups looking at you concerned.
“Are you okay, my soul?” Oh my gosh, his English was so adorable, you couldn’t help but fangirl for a second. He called you his soul. He called you his soul. He really did think you were his soulmate.
“Uhm, I’m not sure.” You replied honestly, truly unsure of how you were feeling. You felt tingles and sparks suddenly at his embrace of your hand and looked down, only for black words to slowly appear on your forearm right under the palm of your hand.
His name was now written in black script on your arm.
A soul mark.
You looked at his own forearm only for your name to be written on his skin, your handwriting staring back at you.
Now you knew you weren’t dreaming.
Two soul bonds were rare. Almost unheard of. Your own bond with Scoups was soul transport and soul marks was an even rarer combination. Looking up at him, his expression mirrored your own, one of complete shock.
“Hello? Cheol? You still there?” The voice of Joshua came from the speaker on his phone, breaking the moment between you and your soulmate.
“Yes, we are here.” His eyes refused to leave you, like he was trying to imprint the image of you into memory.
“Hello there. My name is Joshua and I am a friend to your soulmate.” Joshua’s voice was so sweet and he spoke. You figured he was there to translate for Scoups, seeing as Joshua was from the states and spoke English fluently.
“Hello Joshua. I uh, actually know who you are and who my, uh, soulmate is. I am a fan of your group.” The blush on your face wasn’t even considered a blush anymore. Your entire face was red from embarrassment as you looked at your Seventeen posters right behind your bed on the wall leading Scoups to look. You couldn’t even look his way once the smirk grew on his lips.
“And I do speak a little Korean. I’m uhm, still learning though.” You finish off, looking anywhere but Scoups who was still holding your hand, his thumb now brushing softly against your palm.
“Oh, you are a carat? That’s awesome!” You could tell Joshua and Scoups had become genuinely excited at the fact that you were a fan of them, and it made you smile a little bit. Joshua then asked for your name, and upon hearing you say it, you could see Scoups mouthing it, the gentle smile still on his lips.
After exchanging a bit of information about yourself like where you live and work, the conversation turned a little deeper.
“Well, Cheol wished for me to explain to you what needs to happen. I’m sorry about this, but soulmate laws are a little different in Korea.” You finally looked back to Scoups, only for him to bow his head a little bit. “Because your soulmate is South Korean, you are now considered a South Korean citizen and therefore, fall under our soulmate laws and registry.” Joshua finishes, but you still don’t understand what is going on.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t quite understand what that means.” You tell both men, trying to make sense of why Joshua was telling you this.
“Well y/n, it basically means you will need to reside in South Korea with Seungcheol, as South Korea has a ‘No Separation’ policy.” Your life seemingly flashed in front of your eyes.
Yes, you hated your job and all of your coworkers, as well as your small, shitty apartment. But it was all you had for yourself. It was something you accomplished on your own.
But you’ve always wanted to be taken care of. This could be your chance to be with your soulmate and he obviously seems to want to take care of you. your inner voice spoke up.
It was true. Just from what you know of Scoups, he loves to take care of his members and those around him, but you had to remind yourself that you don’t truly know your new soulmate, only what the cameras show of him.
“Seungcheol wants me to reassure you that he will do whatever he needs to do in order to make everything comfortable for you. Well, he actually wanted me to tell you that he will provide everything for you and that you will never want for anything again but it seemed a little too forward.” Joshua rushed out the last sentence causing a surprised laugh to leave your lips.
It was almost too perfect.
You had a soulmate who fit every wish of your dreams.
Everything started to feel overwhelming. You didn’t know how Scoups was so accepting of this, seeing as he has had to wait longer than you have for the bonds to click between you two. You felt Scoups squeeze your hand before drawing you into his chest, enveloping you into his embrace. It’s like he could tell you were about to fall apart and he was there to hold the pieces together.
“Our managers are already booking plane tickets for you to travel back here, and the plan will leave tomorrow morning. I’m so sorry about how fast this has to move, but for both of your safety and because of our hectic schedules, we need to get you both here as soon as we can. Is this enough time to get things sorted out for you? If not, when you arrive, our team will help you settle everything else.” Joshua’s voice seemed a thousand miles away and you felt like you were floating.
“It seems I don’t have a choice, so yes.” You could feel Scoups squeeze you tighter before talking into the phone and ending the call.
He held you for another couple minutes, not wanting to let go of you. You didn’t want him to let go either. You knew the bonds were real now, that your soulmate was indeed Choi Seungcheol from the kpop group Seventeen. The safety and reassurance you feel just from his touch was enough for you to accept everything.
To believe everything would be okay.
“My soul?” By the heavens above you loved his name for you. You don’t think you would ever grow tired of it. You could feel the heat rushing towards your cheeks as his name for you reminded you of everything going on right now.
Reluctantly pushing away from Scoups, you made your way to your closet, looking for the luggage set your bought when you last visited your family. Once you found it, you turned around, only to find Scoups looking over your kpop collection. You grew a little embarrassed, really not expecting your soulmate to be a kpop idol.
You needed to start packing if your flight was going to be leaving tomorrow morning. You set your luggage on the floor, earning you a look from Scoups who moved forward looking ready to do whatever is needed. A man on a mission.
You were leaving tomorrow to live in South Korea with your soulmate, and by the heavens you would try to fit everything you could into your luggage set.

soul glow
summary: you had just gotten home after leaving the seventeen concert early, only for your phone to start ringing with what you think is the biggest joke of the century. it turns out, that maybe you left too early.
pairing: choi seungcheol x neurodivergent reader
genre: soulmates, soul bonds, idol au, angst
warnings: some insecurity, angst, not much
after many requests here is the second part to soul glow! enjoy :)
------------------------------
You kept the lights off when you closed the door behind you, still overstimulated and almost needing the reprieve the darkness allowed. It's also not like you didn't know your apartment like the back of your hand, everything placed meticulously and to your liking.
Locking the door, you maneuvered yourself to your bathroom, needing to remove the make up your friend had put on you before the concert. You could feel it on your skin and that was something that always seemed to bother you when you became overstimulated. You couldn’t help it.
Once you felt that all of it was gone, you used your favorite moisturizer on your skin, loving that it cooled you down and left you feeling like you skin was soft. You know it was on your skin, but instead of feeling it on your skin, it was like it blended in perfectly, not just sitting on the surface.
You were about to get changed into your pajamas when your phone rang, an unknown number coming up on your screen. You ignored it the first time, but the second time and then the third time had you wondering just who was calling you at almost ten pm. On the fourth ring you finally picked up the phone.
“Hello, who—” You were cut off by a man’s deep voice.
“Is this the phone of Ms. Y/n L/n?” Your face turned up in complete confusion, not wanting to deal with an important phone call so late when you were already overstimulated.
“Uhm, can I ask who is calling first before I give that answer?” You try in vain to see who was calling, as they just insist on asking if this was your phone number or not.
“Is this Ms. L/n speaking?”
“Yes. Now can I ask who is calling me so late at night?” You almost spit out, already tired of the person on the other end.
“This is the manager for the group Seventeen who you just saw perform in concert. Now, before you hang up—” You almost look out your blinds, wondering how this man knew you were about to hang up the phone, now thinking this call is a huge prank.
“Please note that you and your friend sat in row 1 seats 8 and 9 and you left the concert early. We also have your friend’s license plate number and both of your ticket confirmation numbers if you still don’t believe me.” Your eyes had now widened considerably, any tiredness now leaving your eyes and body.
You were feeling a little scared at this point and were trying to figure out if you had broken any rule or etiquette at the concert that you didn’t know about. It was your first concert and you truly were worried that you did something wrong now.
“Miss, are you there?” You hadn’t even realized you had spaced out, not listening to the man on the phone.
“Uhm, y-yes I am.” You stuttered your reply. “Am I in trouble?’
“Uhm, no miss, you aren’t in any trouble—” You cut him off this time.
“I promise I didn’t mean to break any rules or anything. It was my first concert and I tried to learn proper etiquette before hand—”
“Miss. I can assure you aren’t in trouble—” You can hear struggling happening on the other side of the phone and a new voice starts talking.
---
Scoups was freaking out now, fearing you had gotten away and they would never find you, he would never find you. He could feel Jeonghan and Mingyu trying to talk to him but all he could imagine was the thought of never getting to hold you.
That all stopped when he heard his manager on the phone, reassuring someone that they weren’t in trouble. He couldn’t stop himself; he just barreled forward and took the phone from his now frozen manager.
“Y/n?” He asks, voice shaky as he feared he took the phone when it wasn’t his soulmate on the other end.
“Yes?” He could feel his heart begin racing, hearing your voice. He knew it was you, then and there. The tingles he felt and the beating of his heart didn’t lie.
He didn’t speak the best English, and he didn’t know how to vocalize what he wanted in his moment of urgency, so he called Joshua over, who was the closest, and told him what he wanted to say.
“Tell her that she needs to come back to the stadium, that we will get a vehicle for her if needed.” He was straight to the point, his urgency almost bordering the line of manic, his fear of you disappearing covering his usual calm nature.
---
“Hi, this is Joshua, Scoups does not speak the best English so he is asking me to translate, is this okay?” Oh, my, goodness. You were now on the phone with one of your biases. You felt way in over your head and that this was all a dream.
“Uhm, hello. I—uh yes, that’s fine. I do speak some Korean but I am still learning.” You mention your knowledge of the Korean language hoping that it would help them communicate if needed. You didn’t know if you would be of any help, you had no clue what was going on at all.
“Oh, that’s awesome. Well, is it possible for you to come back to the stadium? There are some things we need to discuss with you in person. It is very important.” You tilted your head to the side, confusion coming back into your head as shock is pushed to the back.
“I, uhm, my friend just dropped me off at home. I don’t have a way back to the stadium.”
“We can send a car right now. What is your address?” Joshua is quick to respond, ignoring Scoups hitting him in the shoulder and trying to get him to ask you more things.
You give the man your address, hearing the almost stress in his voice. You would hate to cause anyone trouble, especially people who just finished an almost three hour concert and were probably dead on their feet.
“Keep her on the phone, don’t let her hang up!” Someone tells Joshua, making you question everything.
“Who was that? Why do I need to stay on the phone?” You ask after slowly translating their words in your head.
“Uhm, that was Scoups, and we just want to make sure you get here safe!” You can tell the excuse was said by someone else, Joshua just repeating the words.
To be honest, you were so tired and still overstimulated that you just decided to go along with everything hoping it meant you could get home sooner and into bed. You were bordering non-verbal again but you didn’t want to make things difficult for anyone, especially when they claim this was an important thing.
You hated feeling like a burden. Like you were being difficult.
By the time the car arrived for you, you had been asked a couple more questions, just basic things like what your favorite Seventeen song was, or when you became a carat. You think they were just trying to pass the time, but you still had a hard time answering them.
You had grabbed your concert bag, thankful you hadn’t taken anything out of it yet, and made your way out to the car.
It took about an hour to make it back to the stadium and inside, given the after-concert traffic, but you made it inside and the person who drove you there helped you get past security where someone was waiting for you.
“Are you Miss Y/n” He was wearing a tour shirt and black jeans and lots of wires with a small earpiece. You figured he was someone on the Seventeen management or security team. The driver walked you forward, leaving you with a nod of his head.
“Yes, sir.” Your voice was quiet. You tried hard to project your voice but it was like the connection between your brain and your voice box was faulty.
“Please come this way.” The man had such a bright smile on his face with his dimples peeking through, that you almost felt uncomfortable. You were bordering grumpy now, not having slept or bed in bed by your normal time.
“We are very that excited you are here.” The man tries to make small talk, but you don’t understand what he is trying to imply and it makes you even more annoyed. You don’t manage to respond by the time he stops in front of a door to your right.
“You can go on in, Miss.” You nod your head in thanks, before slowly turning the door handle and pushing your way in.
The first thing you notice is a bright, glowing silhouette, surrounding Scoups. You stood frozen, the both of you, just taking each other in. Him seeing you up close for the first time, and you trying your hardest not to faint at the implication of the glow.
You knew what it meant, and suddenly everything made sense for why they needed you back to the stadium, as quick as you could. You were in a haze by the bright glow of the soul bond, realizing Scoups was your soulmate.
You were still frozen in the doorway, trying to make sense of your soul bond when Scoups pushed forward, slowly and cautiously as he watched you. He thought you looked like a deer caught in the headlights, and it caused him some discomfort, seeing you like that.
“Hello, my glow.” His voice was deep, yet soft as he approached you, causing tingles to shoot up your spine.
“Can I—Can I hold you?” He just wanted to comfort you, feeling in his soul that you needed it and he couldn’t help but to take your silence and your doe eyes as a response. You could just feel his arms wrap around you, as if he knew exactly what you needed in that moment, something to ground you, to support you.
The second his arms were around you, the glow you both held disappeared and you both felt like a weight was lifted from your shoulders. Both of your bodies almost immediately loosened, all of the tension leaving your bodies.
“My glow.” Scoups whispered affectionately in your ears, pulling you into the room without letting you go from his embrace.
“I’ve found you.”

-----------------------------
You were beyond excited to be with the boys at Coachella. It was your first time at the festival, as well as theirs. Ateez would be performing at the Sahara stage, which is such a cool and amazing opportunity for them.
You were currently walking around the festival, waiting for Hongjoong to be done rehearsing so you could go explore the city a little bit. You had found on twitter with Wooyoung that there were some pop-ups and fan made events for the boys and you wanted to drag along your soulmate to see them while he had some free time.
You and Hongjoong hadn’t really gotten to enjoy a lot of time to yourselves since he has been so busy with rehearsing and practicing for the Coachella stage and then for their tour they’ve yet to announce.
You had been wandering around for a little over an hour and knew that you should be making your way back to the stage, but you kept getting stopped by atiny who recognized you. It was always fun getting to know your fellow atiny and talking to them about the boys. However sometimes you felt a little overstimulated. You could tell the heat was getting to you and your heart rate was just continuing to skyrocket.
You tried to make it back to the stage as quick as you could but eventually you had to try and find somewhere to sit so you could rest for a few. You didn’t want to do that though, not when you could see the stage so close. You pushed yourself and made it to the stage, showing security your pass so you could get through.
Once you made it through, you sat down right on the steps to the stage, laying your head back. You could hear footsteps from the stage coming closer and soon enough the boys’ manager is in your line of sight.
“Are you okay? Do you need water? How about salt?” Their manager was well aware, as were the rest of the team, about your heart condition. And even though you felt a little embarrassed about your condition, you knew that if you lied and said you were okay, that you would hear it from Hongjoong later.
“I think I just need some water for now.” Just from sitting down your heartrate was going down and you didn’t feel the palpitations in your head anymore.
The manager went and grabbed Hongjoong’s water bottle for you, catching the attention of your soulmate. You ignored his looks though, knowing he needed to finish this last rehearsal before tonight. It was your own fault for not preparing for the heat better.
You could feel the stares from the boys as they finished up their rehearsal. They were all worried, knowing how bad the heat exasperates your symptoms, and how worried their captain was getting.
Once they were done, Hongjoong was already making his way towards you, worry written clearly across his face as he comes and sits down with you, pulling you into his lap.
“Are you okay, baby? What happened?”  He asks, tilting your chin so you were facing him.
“I’m fine Joong. I just got a little overheated, I promise.” You try to reassure your soulmate but he sees right through it. You lean forward, kissing him softly, trying to show him that you were okay now.
“I promise. See, look.” You show him your watch, clearly indicating your heartrate as normal. It does work a little in reassuring him, his shoulders visibly relaxing at your words.
“Okay, but next time, take one of the team with you, and a water bottle, and one of your mini fans please.” He practically commands you, but you know it’s out of love and worry for you.
“Now, what plans did you conspire with Wooyoung earlier, hmm?” Hongjoong narrows his eyes at you as a grin grows on your lips.
He had to admit, you and Wooyoung were a duo he was scared of. You two could be mischievous and you come up with the craziest schemes together. Like the time you both pranked him and put mint chocolate chip ice cream in the middle of the cake you surprised him with one day.
“Nothing, we just found a lot of pop-ups and little events for the group that I thought it would be fun to go to. Plus, I haven’t had In-N-Out in soooo long.” You told him the truth, despite the obvious suspicion lacing his expression. You knew he would go along with it anyways though, for he would do anything for you.
Your words brought him back to when he first found you, ironically in line while at the famous burger joint when he was last in the states for their tour. He turned around and bumped into you, your soulmarks burning and turning gold at the physical touch.
You spent the rest of the day and night getting to know your new soulmate and his group members while trying not to absolutely freak out at meeting your favorite kpop group.
“Okay, baby. Let’s go back to the hotel and wash up and then we can go out.” He picks you up and puts you down next to him so he could help you stand up slowly, not wanting to chance your heartrate skyrocketing again or even fainting.
He holds your hand as you walk behind the stage and out to where the vans were, getting in with Seonghwa, Yeosang, and Jongho. They all asked how you were and made sure you were all okay before changing the topic. They all knew about your condition and knew how embarrassed you could get over it.
Once you returned to the hotel, you were both in and out within an hour, making sure you had everything you needed to have a comfortable rest of the day before you needed to be back to the festival later tonight. You also packed extra hydration packets and your trusty reusable water bottle filled with ice.
While you were going to go to some of the fan events nearby, you were heavily advised by the security team and the boys’ manager not to go. It was a little disappointing, but you knew it was a safety concern.
So instead, Hongjoong had one of the security team take you both to In-N-Out and then to a park close to the hotel. Your little picnic in the park was really sweet and it was a much needed time together as soulmates during such a busy time for the boys.
“I’m sorry we couldn’t go to those fan events, baby.” Hongjoong told you after he tried to feed you a fry smothered in ketchup, effectively getting some on your cheek and making you laugh.
“It’s okay. Sometimes I forget that you are so famous. To me, your just Hongjoong who likes to cuddle and watch reality television with me. You’re my soulmate and sometimes I do have to step back and remember who you are to the world.” You confide in Hongjoong, knowing it’s better to get things out than to hold them in, especially when he knows you so well.
“I will always be your Hongjoong that loves to hold you in my arms and take care of you. Maybe next time, we let our manager know and we can plan a visit with security to one of those events.” Hongjoong moves forward to hold your hand in his, a soft gesture that he’s done since you met when he wants to feel you close.
You love the way he thinks, trying to do whatever he can so you still feel important to him despite his job and his schedule. He knows sometimes it gets hard trying to juggle everything, but he will always be there to remind you that you are the most important thing to him, and how you feel is his number one thought.
“I love you, baby.”
“I love you too, Joong.” He leans in and kisses you softly, so sweetly that your lips tingle as he pulls away, a loopy smile on your lips, matching the one on his.
“Now,” He begins to clean up the trash form your late lunch. “Let’s get back to the hotel so we can go to our stage!” He exclaims in excitement, causing you to laugh at how giddy he gets every time he has to perform.
You love it and you love him.

The engagement ring on your finger suited you. Not large or overly flashy, the single diamond radiated a subtle sparkle. It was beautiful and a perfect fit, a representation of the unifying love of marriage. When you looked at it under the light, it was almost as if you could feel the love that Bucky had for you.
If only that were the case.
“Remind me again why we’re doing this?” You asked, taking a seat at the table across from Bucky.
“So we can practice and make sure we’re a convincing couple,” he replied.
You sighed as you glanced around the hotel room for the umpteenth time. A small sitting area, a dining and kitchen combination, a single bathroom, and a bedroom. When you pointed out that there was only one bed, Bucky reminded you of the expectation that the two of you had to sleep together while on assignment since you were going on a couple's retreat. Which wouldn't be an issue if you didn't have a crush on him, right?
Right.
You were completely enamored with Bucky Barnes, the handsome former assassin turned agent for the revamped SHIELD. Instacrush wasn't something you experienced often, so he took you by surprise. It was pathetic to fall for him so hard and quickly. It had to be some sort of karma or divine intervention that you were with him in a hotel room.
Just the two of you.
“You know,” he began, wetting his lips as he leaned back in his chair. You blinked, only because you didn't want him to call you out on staring. “You don't have to look so miserable to be here. Is my company that terrible?”
“What? No. Bucky, you aren't terrible company,” you promised, slumping a bit in your chair. The last thing you wanted to do was upset him. “Just been a bit since I've been in a relationship and I’m kind of rusty.”
“You're talking to a guy who hasn't been on a real date since the 40s,” he deadpanned.
He had a point. Plus, from what you understood, Bucky wasn't exactly interested in dating anyone. Every time Steve or Natasha suggested he go on a date, he found a way to brush it off or change the subject.
Even if he was interested in dating, did he think of you as anything beyond a colleague?
Taking this assignment may have been a mistake.
“I’m just not sure I’m the right one for this job,” you said.
“You’re perfect for this job. Why would you think otherwise?”
You froze like a deer in headlights, even as his compliment warmed your heart. It meant a lot that he thought you would do the job well. But how were you supposed to answer that question? That you adored him and it would be torture to pretend to be with him for a week just to back to being coworkers after?
“We should practice,” you suggested instead of giving him an answer. The backstory wasn't overly elaborate, but you had to get it right.
He leaned forward, forcing you to meet his gaze. “Did someone say something to make you think you wouldn't be good for this assignment?” He asked in a low voice. “Because I'll straighten them out.”
You bit the inside of your cheek to keep yourself from whimpering. The thought of him putting someone in their place to make you feel better was swoon-worthy. “No, Bucky. No one said anything. You're right. I’m good for this,” you said before you added, “We’re good together.”
You couldn't read the look he gave you and it became more difficult not to squirm under his gaze. “Yeah,” he whispered, leaning back and clearing his throat. “So. We’re engaged. Going to a resort for a much needed vacation. We’ll have to mingle with some of the guests in between investigating the owner. One of the first questions will be how we met.”
With an exhale, you recited, “We met at a coffee shop. We both ordered the same drink.”
“An iced caramel macchiato,” he said.
“And we reached for the drink at the same time,” you smiled, making a show out of reaching for the glass on the table. “Our fingers touched first. Our eyes met second.”
“And I immediately asked you out,” he smiled.
Your heart swelled. He looked like he didn’t have a care in the world when he smiled like that. “You did,” you said, trying to blink the longing from your eyes. “We went to dinner and talked a bit about ourselves. You told me you're a mechanic and I told you I’m a teacher. And once dinner was over, we went back to that same coffee shop and we shared an iced caramel macchiato.”
“Even proposed to you at the same shop,” he said, gesturing to your left hand. “But I actually got the ring after our first date because I knew I wanted you to be my girl,” he said with such conviction that you found it hard to breathe.
The way his eyes softened as he gazed at you, you found yourself believing him for a moment. You had to stay rooted in realism though. The point of the mission besides the actual mission was to act as if you two were crazy about each other.
Not that you had to do any acting on your part.
You cleared your throat and pulled your hand back from the glass. “If only that were true,” you said, absentmindedly twisting the ring around your finger. You weren't cynical about love, but this whole thing was a reminder that you were single and alone.
His brows furrowed. “What do you mean?”
Heat crept up your neck. You shouldn't have said anything. “I mean, it just would've been nice if we met at a coffee shop,” you replied to avoid saying you wanted to be his girl.
“What’s wrong with how we met?” He asked, crossing his arms.
The metal arm gleamed under the light. You noticed that he had a tendency to wear long sleeves and gloves whenever he was in the building, but seeing him with his sleeve pushed up and missing glove? You would almost say he was comfortable around you.
Again, he had to play the part right.
You pulled yourself from your thoughts when he said your name, which sounded like it melted on his tongue. It made you press your thighs together. You needed to stay professional. “Do you not remember what happened or are you just being nice?” You asked.
Months ago, the day you met Bucky, Steve informed you that he planned to introduce you to him after he came back from a long assignment. Not only were you excited to meet one of his best friends and a great soldier, but you had wanted to make a good impression on him. What you did was make an ass out of yourself when you turned the corner only to smack right into the former Winter Soldier.
And splattered your beverage on both of you in the process.
Instacrush and a horrible impression on your part.
Bucky’s lips curled in a smile as your eyes widened. “You do remember,” you said, wadding up a nearby napkin and tossing it at his face, which he easily caught. “Oh, my God! That’s why you chose ‘coffee shop' for this, didn't you?”
You concentrated so much on getting the backstory right that it didn't occur to you that he was maybe poking fun at you. He wasn't the kind of guy that liked making others feel bad though. Tease you, sure. Outright make fun of you at the risk of hurting your feelings? He would never.
“Hey, I didn't choose how we met, but I also didn't object,” he said, raising his hands in surrender when you went to throw another napkin at him. “And I wouldn't forget meeting you, doll. You make a lasting impression.”
You wished you had done something to make him remember you besides spilling a drink on him. “I guess making an idiot out of myself is a lasting impression,” you teased.
Something dark flashed in his eyes, making your breath hitch. “That’s not what I meant. You didn't make an idiot out of yourself and I don't like you thinking that or talking down about yourself.”
“I’m sorry,” you said, not used to someone getting so defensive at your self-depreciation. There was something sexy and heartwarming about it. “You were very nice about the whole incident.”
“You were nice, too,” he said, gesturing to his torso. “I mean, you offered to buy me a new shirt.”
“Because I spilled my drink on it! I felt bad,” you said.
“And when I said you didn't have to buy me a new shirt, you said, ‘Are you sure I can't pay for the dry cleaning at least, Sergeant Barnes?’” he said in a falsetto voice.
He chuckled when you rolled your eyes. “I don't sound like that, first of all, and I was being considerate,” you said. You couldn't believe he remembered your exact words. “And you just gave me that half confused smile of yours before I grabbed napkins for both of us to clean up.”
“You mean this?” He asked, his lips stretching in that familiar awkward grin.
“Yeah, that,” you giggled, your heart doing that funny flip that happened far too often around him.
In the beginning, whenever you smiled at him, he gave you that very look in return. Somewhere along the way, the uncomfortable glances on his end became genuine fondness. It didn't mean anything though.
Just an agent being kind to another agent.
Bucky stared at you as you continued to giggle at the memory. “I’m sorry. I just-”
“I love your laugh,” he said, almost making you choke on your own breath. Nothing like forgetting how to be a human and breathe. “And your smile.”
Maybe he had switched back into practice mode. “You do?” You asked, playing along as you smiled directly at him.
He swallowed and nodded. “Yeah, I do,” he replied, his voice thick as he unfolded his arms. “You know, you're one of the people that actually smiles at me. And you look me in the eye when you talk to me.”
“Why wouldn't I?”
“Because some people are still afraid of me,” he whispered.
Your heart sank. He was a good man. A hero wrongly painted as a villain. It wasn't fair what he went through and you had no reason to fear him.
Why couldn't everyone else see the good in him?
“I’m not afraid of you, Bucky,” you promised. And after what he went through, frightening people was the last thing he would do. “Never have been. Never will be.”
“Maybe you should be,” he muttered, some of the light leaving his eyes.
Your eyes narrowed as you tempered the urge to grab him by the shoulders and shake him. Seeing this vulnerable side of him also brought out your protective instinct. “Listen to me. You’re amazing and a good man, okay? And if I don't get to call myself an idiot for spilling a drink on you, then you don't get to say I should be scared of you, Sergeant Barnes,” you said with an air of finality.
He gave you an impressed smile. “Just like that? Because those are totally different things you're comparing.”
“Just like that,” you said, putting your hand on the table for him to take if he wished. “Do you trust that I'll have your back on this mission? Because I trust that you'll have mine no matter what.”
He stared at your upturned hand for a moment before he took it. “You're one of the only people I do trust,” he admitted.
His eyes bore into yours as you tried to find the words to respond. He wasn’t feeding you a line to make you feel good about yourself. Bucky Barnes trusted you.
“Then trust me when I say we got this,” you promised. You would look out for him and let him know that he hadn’t misplaced his trust in you.
“Why don't you have a boyfriend?” He asked suddenly.
The switch in topic jarred you, but he didn’t let go of your hand. “That’s. I’m. What? How is that relevant?”
It wasn't smooth, but it was better than blurting out that your hopeless crush on him was one of the major factors.
“I’m curious,” he shrugged.
“Oh. Well. My last boyfriend dumped me for being an agent. Seriously, he didn't like the fact that I could kick his ass if I wanted to,” you told him, squeezing his hand without meaning to. He didn’t object. “Which I wouldn't.”
“You could kick my ass if you wanted to,” he winked. Physically, Bucky was broad and strong. You weren’t sure you could take him in a real fight, but you could take him another way if he ever offered. “And your ex sounds like an asshole if he can’t stand beside and support an amazing woman.”
You smiled humorlessly. “Thanks, Bucky, but I’m not-”
“I swear to fuck if you talk down about yourself again, I will put you over my knee,” he threatened, his eyes darker than they were seconds ago.
You didn’t laugh as he stared at you. Neither did he. Your clothes suddenly felt too heavy, your body too warm. Licking your lips, you couldn’t stop yourself from saying, “Is that a promise?”
Bucky pushed his chair back and pointed at his thigh, his eyes still on you. “Get over here and find out.”
Oh, fuck.
The sound of Bucky’s phone ringing snapped you both out of whatever spell you two were under. “Shit,” he muttered, taking his hand from yours. “It’s Steve. I better-”
“Yeah, you should answer that,” you said, almost knocking the chair over as you stood. “I think I'm going to call it a night.”
“Wait, what?” He asked, answering the phone. “Hold on, punk,” he said, covering the screen as he looked at you. “You’re going to bed now?”
Guilt settled in your stomach at the hurt in his eyes. “Just going to lay down. I may not go to sleep right away. And we can practice more in the morning,” you replied. You just needed to step out of the room and take a breath.
He waited a beat before he nodded, the tension still lingering. “I’ll be there in a few minutes, okay?”
“Okay,” you nodded, leaving him alone so he could talk to Steve.
You splashed a bit of water on your face when you went to the bathroom to change. The assignment hadn’t started and you couldn’t keep your cool. With squinted eyes, you pointed at your reflection and mentally scolded yourself. Yes, you wanted Bucky Barnes and maybe, just maybe, some part of him wanted you. At least, he wanted you enough to put you over his knee.
You couldn't have him though. Could you? Mixing business with pleasure could lead to complications if you crossed that line, but it wasn’t like you’d break some major bylaw by being his girl.
Now wasn’t the time to think about that.
“Get your shit together,” you hissed, rushing through your nighttime routine and changing into your comfortable yet sexy nightgown.
Your eyes went to the bed when you left the bathroom. Just a regular hotel bed. Inviting, but not overly frilly. Large enough for the both of you, but small enough that you might end up in each other’s arms.
“It’s going to be a long night,” you muttered.
Sighing, you left a light on for Bucky to see and crawled into bed, shutting your eyes as he wrapped up his call with Steve. You tried to block out the sound of his footsteps as he made his way to the bathroom. Maybe his nighttime routine would take a bit longer than you thought and you could drift off and wake up to the sight of his beautiful eyes and-
The bed dipped as Bucky curled up behind you, your eyes opening when he placed his arm around your waist and pulled you back against him. You were conscious of every shift in his body, every breath he took. How you could smell his lingering cologne as he pressed himself closer. How he ran warmer than you and you wanted him to heat you up even though you weren’t cold.
And that he wasn’t wearing a fucking shirt.
“I know you aren’t sleeping,” he whispered, his fingers brushing along the fabric that covered your skin. “Your heart’s beating too fast.”
He was right. It was about ready to burst through your chest. “Can’t sleep.”
“Why not?” He asked, helping you roll over so you were on your back. He didn’t remove his hand though. “Did my ‘threat’ make you uncomfortable?”
“No, it didn't,” you assured him, heat pooling between your legs that you couldn't prevent. “I wouldn't have continued with the banter if I was uncomfortable.”
“Just making sure,” he said. “I was only teasing.”
You huffed out a laugh in an effort to cover up the crushing feeling in your chest, your arousal fading to a dull ache. “Of course, you were,” you uttered. Teasing. Nothing more. “Good night, Bucky,” you said, turning your head away.
He brought a hand to your cheek and brought your face back toward him. How did his eyes look so blue in the faint light? “Don’t go to sleep yet, please.”
“Why not?”
“You rushed to bed and now you're shutting down. I clearly said or did something wrong,” he sighed, which made you feel bad. He hadn't done anything wrong in your eyes since it wasn’t his fault you wanted his teasing to mean something. “I need to fix it.”
“There’s nothing to fix because you didn't break anything,” you said, the ring heavy on the finger. “But can I ask for a favor?”
“Of course,” he whispered.
You didn’t dare search out his gaze when you said, “I may need reminders this week that you don't actually have feelings for me.”
A few seconds went by before he asked in a small voice, “What?”
You took a breath to compose yourself. The last thing you needed to do was get upset for no good reason. “We’re going to hold hands and cuddle and share a bed and be a couple, but you may need to give me a reality check now and again that you only see me as an agent. Okay?”
Maybe he’d ask Steve for a new partner in the morning.
“You think I only see you as an agent?” He asked, sighing when you nodded. “I used to be good at this.”
“Good at what?”
“Teasing. Flirting,” he answered, leaning in close. He stopped just before his lips touched yours. “Kissing.”
“Wait. You were flirting with me?” you said, not moving forward or back as you put a hand on his chest. His heart raced as fast as yours. And your brain couldn’t compute that implication that he wanted to kiss you. “You weren’t just practicing for the assignment?”
He huffed out a laugh this time. “You’re killing me, doll,” he whispered, closing the distance.
You imagined Bucky kissing you before, but didn’t think it would ever be so soft. His lips barely brushed against yours, but it felt like the beginning of something more. It tempted you like nothing else ever had. He must’ve felt it, too, since he deepened it. You melted. You surrendered.
You never stood a chance.
“So, you like me?” You asked when he pulled back a little to gaze at you. “I’m sorry. I just need to hear you say it because I really like you and have for months. Fuck, maybe I shouldn’t have said that because we have a whole week together for this assignment and now you know and I don't want it to be weird.”
Your mind almost shut down when he gave you a full-blown smile and said, “Yeah, I like you. I thought it was obvious. I tried dropping little hints, talking about your smile and trusting you.” He chuckled almost shyly as his words sank in. “I took this assignment because of you.”
A moment passed before you giggled, happiness blooming in your chest. Bucky Barnes liked you. Wanted you. “Thank fuck,” you breathed, pulling him back down for another kiss.
He groaned, ravaging your mouth as he moved on top of you. His knee pushed your legs apart so he could settle between them, swallowing down your whimpers when he pressed his growing hardness against your pussy. He ground his hips, your panties soaked as his tongue tangled with yours. The man kissed you like he had something to prove.
Like he wanted to own you.
His muscles rippled as he leaned up and grasped the bottom of your nightie. The vision of him above you like this was now engraved in your mind. “If you want me to stop, I will.”
Sleeping with him was moving fast considering you just confessed your feelings for each other, but you didn't care. “Don't stop,” you whispered, quivering as he tugged the fabric over your head.
Your hands moved up to cover your chest before he gripped your wrists. “Are you trying to hide from me?” He questioned, his smirk playful in comparison to the uncertainty in his gaze.
You didn't want him doubting himself or your want for him for a second.
“Maybe? I mean, look at you and look at
”
You wouldn't knock on your looks since you were generally confident in your appearance, but the super soldier was an entirely different level of gorgeous. He towered over even the largest of agents, with the exception of Steve, and his dark lashes framing his steel eyes were enough to pull you under.
And who were you compared to him? Just another agent. Average.
“Don't,” he whispered, releasing a wrist so he could cup your breast. You arched your back and any uncertainty in his eyes before faded when a moan escaped your lips. “You're so fucking beautiful.”
The praise almost made your eyes water as he brought his head down, losing focus when he swept his tongue across your nipple. Your eyes fluttered shut as he did it again, a wave from a sea of ecstasy crashing over you. Your heart thudded faster, addicted to the feel of his sinful mouth.
“You’re the reason I don't have a boyfriend,” you whined, your fingers twisting in his hair. Why did you say that?
He smirked against your skin before he reached down and tore your panties away. “I haven't gone on a date because of you.”
Your body throbbed with need as you met his gaze. “You're just saying that to get in my pants,” you joked.
His eyes raked down your body, stopping between your trembling thighs as he pushed his pants and underwear down. “If I had my way, I would've taken you out first,” he said, drawing a moan from you when he wrapped a hand around his thick cock. “But all I can think about right now is how loud you’ll say my name when I make you come.”
“Bucky,” you moaned, tempted to reach down and touch yourself to the sight of him.
“Louder than that,” he said smugly, rubbing the tip of his cock along your slick folds. “Fuck, I wanna take my time and explore you. Make you feel like a goddess. Treat you the way you deserve.”
It warmed your heart and sent another wave of desire through you knowing he wanted to take care of you. “I know you'll treat me well,” you smiled, opening your legs wider. “But for now, please, fuck me.”
He didn't ask about birth control, which you were on. You didn't ask about condoms. It didn't matter. You wanted to feel all of him.
You glanced down as he lined himself up, watching as he slowly eased into you. It was overwhelming as you took every inch, your mouth falling open with a moan. You floated in a cloud of lust, the sound of his groan reaching your ears.
“Look at me,” he ordered as he bottomed out.
Your eyes flew to his as he gripped your chin. The feel of him inside you, his eyes staring so intently into yours that he practically touched your soul. It was almost too much. And that was when he began to move, the weight of his body on top of yours as he fucked you in slow and deep thrusts. It was the kind of lovemaking that would make you crave more.
Crave him.
“Knew you'd take me well,” he grunted. You whined, the praise going straight to your core as you tightened around his thick cock. Your walls couldn't stop gripping him as he slid in and out. “Knew your pussy would be greedy for me. Won’t let me go.”
Your head fell back against the pillow, dizzy as he trapped your body under his. As he rolled his hips, you wondered if he’d let you ride him at some point. Maybe he’d fuck up into you as he brought your hips down. Or maybe he’d lay back and cup your breasts, let the weight bounce in his hands as you took all of him.
You’d take whatever he gave you.
The growing pleasure within you was like you were burning from the inside out, each movement from him stoking the flames. His low groans mixed with your whines, his thrusts increasing in speed when he brought his thumb to your clit. Your hand worked its way back into his hair as you cried out his name, your control slipping further and further away as he took over.
“Just like that,” he moaned. “Don’t hold back on me. Wanna hear every pretty sound you make.”
“Bucky, I'm gonna
” you trailed off, your orgasm building fast in your core and ready to burst.
“Come,” he finished for you, a filthy smirk on his face as he laced his fingers with yours.
One more thrust and you were gone, his name falling from your lips as you came. Your mouth stayed open as you spasmed, pleasure rushing from head to toe. You panted and didn't care if you'd ever properly breathe again. That was how good it felt.
“I’m close, doll,” he gritted, resembling a growl as he continued to fuck you and chase his release. “Gonna come inside you. Gonna own you.”
“Come inside me, Bucky,” you begged, watching through half-lidded eyes as his face contorted in ecstasy. It was such an erotic sight. “Please.”
He buried himself deep with a long moan as he filled you in hot, thick spurts, nuzzling his face in your neck when he finished. He said your name as he heavily breathed against your neck and it was the sweetest sound you’ve ever heard. You wrapped your arms around him when he stayed inside you, not at all bothered as your mixed release slowly trickled out.
You didn't want him to let you go.
“Well,” you huffed, a dopey smile on your face as you ran your fingers through his hair. “I don't think we’ll have a problem convincing people we care about each other.”
He chuckled, kissing your warm skin. “And we won't have a problem sharing a bed,” he said, keeping you close as you yawned. “Sleep, doll. I’ve got you.”
“I’ve got you, too,” you said, feeling him smile against you as you drifted off.
Tumblr media
The delicious ache between your thighs was the second thing you noticed when you woke up. The first, of course, was Bucky’s arm and leg draped over you: warm, protective, perfect. He was still fast asleep, the blanket pooled around his waist, completely at ease with the world. You could get used to waking up like this.
You hesitated before you touched his cheek, not wanting to wake him as you kissed his forehead. You wished you had time to kiss every scar on his body and worship him the way he said he wanted to worship you. The two of you would have to leave the bed sooner or later. There was work to do.
“Mmm. Morning,” he said, his voice laced with sleep as he cracked an eye open.
“Morning,” you whispered, cuddling closer as he brought your hand to his mouth and kissed over the ring. The motion made you brush against his crotch and you were close enough to hear the hitch in his breath. You did it again, keeping your gaze innocent as he opened his eyes more and groaned.
Yes, there was work to do, but it was still early.
“You’re still horny? Didn’t I fuck you hard enough last night?” He teased.
“Yeah, I’m still horny,” you replied. Waking up next to him would arouse anyone. “Need you to fuck me again.”
“You won’t be able to walk if I fuck you again,” he smirked, rolling on top of you and digging his fingers into your waist.
“Should’ve known you’d be a cocky boyfriend,” you teased back, your heart thundering in your chest as he leaned down and skimmed kisses along your jaw. “Sorry, we didn’t put a label on this and there’s still stuff to figure out and the mission and-”
“Hey. Boyfriend, your man, whatever you want to call me, I’m yours,” he cut you off, his mouth drifting to your neck. “And I still owe you a date, got it? You’re my girl. You’re mine.”
“I'm yours,” you gasped when he nipped your skin hard enough to sting, his tongue soothing it after. You were his and he was yours. “So, we're a couple now? Just like that?” You smiled as he worked his way back to your lips.
Bucky answered you with a kiss. “Just like that.”

hello soulmate | min yoongi
Tumblr media
summary: your first day on the job doesn't turn out the exact way you envisioned
pairing: min yoongi x hype employee reader
genre: soulmate au, soulmarks, fluff,
warnings: running, unhappy coworkers, some injury
word count: 1.7k
------------------------------------------------------
Running was not your forte, and neither was breathing apparently as you choke trying to get air into your lungs as you reach the fortunately empty elevator.
You were running late, and you were seconds away from being fired on your third day of work. You had just gotten the job as one of the content creators for a variety show through one of the big four entertainment companies, and today was the first official day at the company.
HYBE was bigger than you imagined, and thus, the reason you were late. You had gotten lost on the first floor and then there were issues with your ID card getting past security. But you manage to reach the 12th floor in record time and use the piece of paper you received the last meeting to find the correct room.
It was slight chaos when you opened the door, unsurprisingly as you now realized who you would be working with for the variety show. Everything was kept top secret until you were approved by HYBE and showed up on the first day, after signing numerous NDA’s of course.
The BTS boys were having fun and running amuck as they waited for the shoot to start. It was supposed to be just a fun shoot, numerous arcade games set up throughout the room and a table set in the middle where some challenges were going to take place later on.
You looked around after taking in the room, trying to set eyes on your director. Eventually you find him talking to your fellow creators, going over the different challenges that would be taking place.
“—After the water bottle challenge, we’re going to move onto the karaoke booth.” You arrive just at the tail end of the run through, but you manage to understand anyways, seeing as you all had a copy of the schedule for the day.
“Where have you been? Never mind, you’re working on the individual camera today.” Your director questions you but doesn’t give you any time to explain yourself before moving on and assigning you your task. You quickly nod your head, before moving to grab one of the video cameras from the table.
You would be in charge of taking individual behind the scenes videos and photos for the social media accounts. You had seen episodes of Run BTS before and knew how much moving you would be doing today.
Again. Running wasn’t your thing.
“What are you doing?” You turn your head to see a slightly older woman in front of you, her hands on her hips as she looks towards the camera in your hands.
“I was assigned individual shots today, Ma’am.” You respond as politely as you can, getting bad feelings from the woman in front of you.
You could almost feel that you would be having problems with her. You tried to be respectful though, not wanting to step on anyone’s toes on your first official day.
The woman just looked you up and down, her nose crinkling a little before she spoke. “Just don’t get in my way. I’ve been doing this longer than you have and don’t need some inexperienced newbie messing up my photos.”
You can only nod before she is walking past you, bumping into your shoulder on her way past.
‘What the heck?’ you think, turning to watch as she steps forward and begins to talk to one of the supervisors who was in the middle of talking to Namjoon. Shaking your head, you move to the edge of the set, close to the basketball arcade shot game.
You had a good view of the other games from here and felt you could maneuver through the set easier from where you were set up. Bringing your camera up to your eyes, you begin taking some practice shots, making sure the lighting was good and the settings on the camera aligned with what you wanted to photograph.
It took you some time, but eventually you were able to begin taking photos of the boys who had come back to mess around with the games after getting changed and before the actual shoot started.
You were so focused on the pictures that you didn’t even notice one of the boys moving up to you.
“Hi! You must be one of the new creators! I’m Taehyung.” The bright eyed man bounced right up to you when he noticed you, hand held in front of you to shake your hand as he introduced himself.
You put your camera down, smiling softly as you brought your hand to meet his, introducing yourself. As you did, you caught his attention on your wrist, where your soulmark resided. The initials of your soulmate were written in short, quick writing, the gray M and Y staring back up at you since the minute you turned sixteen.
Taehyung’s smile only seemed to widen once you introduced yourself, a twinkle in his eyes that wasn’t there before. You could barely blink before the director was calling for the boys to get into place; the shoot was about to begin.
You smile as you watch him bounce away again, his energy levels palpable as you hold your camera up again.
The next hour was spent moving slowly throughout the edge of the set up game room, trying to get as many good shots as you could. You noticed that Taehyung gravitated towards you and seemed to pull Yoongi with him to play the basketball game, Jungkook following behind to try and battle against the basketball player.
You moved closer to get a picture of both boys making a basket and scoring a point when someone stepped on your foot causing pain to radiate up your ankle and shin. A gasp leaves your lips as you look towards your left to see the woman from earlier, a glare set on her dark eyes as she almost pushes you aside.
You end up tripping over the cord to another game and just barely manage to catch yourself on the corner of said game before injuring yourself or ruining the shoot. You were so focused on the pain in your foot you didn’t even notice the burning in your wrist as your soulmark gets darker.
You didn’t notice the three men witnessing the entire thing, nor the dark looks Taehyung was sending to the older woman. A break was luckily called soon enough and you tried to move away back to the far wall but a hand on your arm stops you.
“What was that? I thought I told you not to get in my way?!” The older woman steps in front of you, her hand still gripping tightly to your forearm.
“I’m sorry, Ma’am. It won’t happen again.” You grit out as politely as you can, the pain in your ankle making you want to sit down but you knew you needed to just go along with what she was saying, not wanting any trouble.
“No. Don’t apologize.” You both turn to your right to see Taehyung, Yoongi and Jungkook, all three eyeing the hand gripping onto your forearm. The woman is quick to release you when she realizes what the boys were seeing.
“Oh boys! Don’t worry about this. I’m just giving some advice to the newbie.” The woman was quick to put on the sweet tone as she speaks to them. You just want to roll your eyes.
Pulling your arm back to your chest, rubbing against where you knew her grip was going to leave some bruises. Your sleeve had rolled back down and your forearm was on full display, along with your soulmark.
“Advice? It seemed like you stepped on and pushed someone out of the way. That is not okay nor something we want to see happen between our employees.” Yoongi’s voice was low, each word spoken slowly as if to ensure the woman knew exactly what she had done.
Jungkook moved to you while Taehyung and Yoongi were talking to the woman, his hand holding onto your own, softly and a huge contrast to the woman as he tilts your forearm around to see the spot where the woman held you.
The skin was red and he knew it would bruise. This was unacceptable and he would make sure that the woman would be reprimanded for her actions. As Jungkook continued to look over your arm, his attention was caught by your soulmark, his hyungs initials on the inside of your wrist.
‘No wonder Taehyung kept bringing him to where you were
’ Jungkook mused, a small smile on his lips as the thought of Taehyung trying to bring you two together.
Well, no time like the present.
Taehyung agreed, as his next words caught the attention of everyone.
“You hurt Yoongi’s mate.” Your eyes widened as your head turned quickly to see Yoongi already staring at you, your faces both sharing the expression of shock. Jungkook was still holding your wrist, bringing you the two feet until you were right in front of Yoongi.
You were silent, trying to process everything as Yoongi looked down at your held out wrist, his initials written in his own handwriting. Slowly, he pulled his own sleeve up, showing you his soulmark.
Your initials were written in your own soft script, smooth cursive showing on his inner wrist, the same spot as your own.
You were lost in your own world, oblivious to all of the noise and emotions happened outside the two of you. Yoongi slowly brought his hand to your wrist, his thumb rubbing over the top of your soulmark, gray turning to a dark black as the soulbond snaps into place confirming Taehyung’s suspicions.
“Hello, soulmate.” A gummy smile burns into your retina, a memory you never want to forget as warmth erupts in your soul.

Pairing: Sam Wilson x Reader
Warnings: none, little angst, mild cursing
Word Count: 1,670
Summary: The red string of fate connects the pinky of one soulmate to the pinky of the other. Not everyone can see them, but since you had this rare gift you figured it was your duty to make sure as many soulmates found each other. At the very least, you could make sure your friends found their special person. What happens when your best friend’s boyfriend isn’t her soulmate though?
Tumblr media
Your world was filled with red. If you unfocused your eyes enough, dissociated deep enough, every single red string came into view. As a kid, you thought this was normal. That everyone could see them. A lot of times you never even brought it up because you didn’t know there was anything unusual going on. People just had little red strings tied on their pinkies that traveled to distances unknown. It wasn’t until the first grade that you realized nobody else could see them, and it wasn’t until seventh grade that you realized the strings even connected.
A girl in your math class with a red string around her pinky connected to a boy in your english class. They started dating two months into the school year and it was the first time you saw an entire string, from beginning to end.
The red string of fate connecting soulmate to soulmate.

The sound of rain against your window is the first thing you register as you wake up. The sounds of your street in New York slowly adding themselves in. You let out a yawn and stretch. These were the best days. Waking up to the rain serenading you on your day off. You have nowhere to be, no plans, just a day for yourself. So you lay in bed a bit longer, just listening to the sounds.
Once you get up, you start your day. A nice warm shower, comfy clothes and breakfast with your favourite tea. Your phone dings with the daily reminder of your best friend to leave your apartment today so you'd have a chance finding your soulmate. You roll your eyes. She found hers in high school - lucky bitch. The matching tattoo of a weird shaped heart, that to you looked more like a bean, on her ankle sealed her fait to the high school jock. You were scared for her at first but he turned out to be the best partner she could ever have wished for. You on the other hand weren't so lucky. The little star constellation on your shoulder blade hasn't met it's match yet and you weren't sure if it ever would. With a sigh you put down your mug and text her back, promising you'd leave the house if the rain stopped.
Tumblr media
The internet was a wonderful, helpful thing until it wasn't. Until one misstep, one accident gets spread around and ruins your life.
Steve was always good at hiding his soulmate mark. Back in the 40s when he was sickly he partially did it because dressing warm enough prevented him from getting sick and to protect whatever dame had the matching mark on her shoulder from having him as soulmate. As soon as he became Captain America he solely did it so no one would lead him on by pretending to be his soulmate. He was glad his soulmark was on his shoulder blade, easy to hide under the shirts he wore. Even though he was hiding it he couldn't help the disappointment that in all his years on this planet he hasn't even had a slightest tickle of the feeling of his soulmate being close to him.
But then his years of hiding were ruined by a very public mission. He was doing his best to lead his team and make sure they were all safe. He was in his element until a Hydra agent attacked him with a knife. This happened way too often these days and every time Howard Stark's voice mocks him in his mind. "Hydra won't attack you with pocket knives." Yeah right.
Steve was quick to react and instead of stabbing him in his shoulder all the attacker did was rip open his suit. This shouldn't happen this easily, maybe it wasn't a common pocket knife and Howard was right after all. Steve knocked him to the floor and made sure the man was unconscious. He didn't even think twice about the rip in his suit before he went back to the mission. He should have... He should have took a damn second to check then he wouldn't be stuck in the Tower.
The rip exposed his soulmark. And of course some onlooker took a picture that spread like wildfire on the internet. Promptly the Tower was overrun by people claiming they're his soulmate. His morning runs through central park were turning into him being hunted down by them too.
When the first woman came he had hope. He really thought that maybe, just maybe the stupid mistake would bring him his soulmate but the feeling never came... Nothing ever snapped into place. He didn't have the feeling.
His soulmark soon graced the shoulder blades of thousands of people like some stupid fashion accessory which caused him to swear off his soulmate and accepted a life of being alone. He just hoped that this hype around his mark would soon die down.
His fists hit the punching bag in front of him hard. The bag swinging back and forth wildly as he tried to let his pent up anger out. His usual sparring partners tapped out a few days ago since he got too cruel during it, not pulling his punches anymore. He understood, he didn't want to hurt them but he couldn't help himself but be disappointed. Those social interactions flew out the window too which didn't help him with feeling so alone.
"We gotta get him out of the tower... He's been cooped up for two weeks now." Natasha mumured to the fellow assassin next to her as they both watched their friend. "Sam and me tried... Either we get overrun immediately or he refuses to leave the tower." Bucky answered, his arms crossed. He felt for his friend, he deserves to find his soulmate and live happily ever after with them. "Maybe we can fly him out to Clint's farm?" He added only to be met with a snort of the redhead next to him. "Yeah he'd love that. Clint would make him take care of the chickens. Imagine all the pictures of him and Cap Jr." She smirked at the image of Steve holding up his chicken counterpart in several pictures.
Just as Bucky was about to answer their little conversation got interrupted by the bag hitting the floor and Steve marching or rather stomping off to get a new one.
"I have a plan to buy you guys some time" the redhead said after a moment of silence and beckoned her friend to follow her.

Picking at his cap and the borrowed clothes, Steve sends Nat a sceptical look. "This isn't going to work..." He sighs and sits down. His face falls into the palms of his hands. Soon enough there are soft strokes on his back. "Yes it will work. You just gotta be positive for once, Rogers" she says with an encouraging smile. "Sam and Bucky are currently distracting the masses, making them fill out forms so you can find your soulmate. All you gotta do is take the back exit and vanish into the crowds. It's a simple mission." Nat ever the optimist. There was so many things that could go wrong with this plan. Steve lifts a sceptical eyebrow at her.
"Look it's either this or Bucky's plan that involves a horrible granny dress and a wig. So choose your poison, Cap" she smirks at his furrowed eyebrows and claps on his shoulder. "That's what I thought. Let's get you out of here." With a smile she beckons him to follow her. They walk through the hallways and take the stairs down to the lobby. Instead of taking the usual door Natasha leads him around the corner and through some storage rooms before they stop in front of a door.
"Alright, sunglasses on. I texted you the code to get back into this door but I expect you to not use it before lunchtime." Like a mother scolding her child she points a finger at him. "The door leads to the back alley. The security guard has been informed that you'd take this way so no need to worry. Just make a swift exit from the alley into the crowds. Keep your head down, cap and sunglasses on, ok?" Steve nods at that and hugs her. "Thank you" he whispers and before she can answer he slips out of the door.
He nods to Stan the security guard, a nice old man that he often talked about art with, and slips out of the alley into the masses. To his surprise everyone's minding their own business and soon he's a block away from the tower. His shoulders relax and he lets out a breath. The rain probably helped him stay unrecognised.
Tumblr media
Much to your dismay the rain stops after a few hours and you have to keep your promise. You sigh and get dressed to leave your apartment. Maybe a coffee in the park wouldn't be so bad. The park near your apartment always was empty on rainy days, except for a few people walking their dogs. So you could still enjoy your day without too many people around you. Once you're all dressed you grab your bag and an umbrella, just to be safe, before you leave. Your feet carry you to the little cafe at the end of your street. You weren't surprised with how busy it was. People would come here to escape the cloudy skies, to study, to meet others or to simply just get coffee. You weren't bothered by the masses though since it was your plan all along to get your order to go and sit in the park.
With your drink and snack in hand you enter the park a little while later. It wasn't big but still beautiful. You make your way to your favorite spot, a little bridge over the lake that housed two benches. It was a quiet and beautiful spot and you're were sure no one would hog the benches today. Well you were wrong. As you approach you see one of the benches taken by a tall stranger with a sketchpad. He seemed relaxed as his hand moved the pencil over the paper. His cap and hunched over form hid his face from your view but you didn't mind. Something inside you told you he was safe and even pulled you a bit closer to him. It's a weird feeling but you chalk it off to the two of you just doing the same thing - trying to enjoy the silence in the park.
You sit down on the bench across from him and take in the nature. You don't even notice his surprised face when he looks up and sees someone across from him. Or when he absent mindly scratches his shoulder. Or when his lips pull into a small smile at the added person in his sketch. You sit in silence for a while, trying to ignore your itchy shoulder, occasionally stealing a glance of the handsome stranger until he stands up and approaches you. Your heart beats faster as you look up at him. Why was he approaching you? Was he not the nice strange...
"Here..." He holds out a piece of paper to you with a soft smile on his face. Fuck even his voice was handsome. You hesitate for a second before you softly take it from him, which just makes his smile grow wider. Your eyes land on his sketch of the park... the lake, the trees, the flowers and you... You on the bench with your drink in hand, smiling as you take in the nature. It's breathtakingly beautiful. Your surprised eyes find his and you're met by a bashful smile. "I uh... It's a thank you..." He scratches his neck, his face blushing as he tries to avoid your eyes. "A thank you?" You ask confused, the small itch in your shoulder growing. You look up at him. Why would he thank you for sitting across from him?
"Yeah... The last week's... Have been crazy and you're the first person who treats me... normal?" He fumbles with his hands as your confusion just grows, brows knitted together. "My soulmark was released to the public after a mission and so many people got it as a tattoo and they hunted me down on my jogs and they waited for me everywhere and I was stuck in the tower and my friends wouldn't even spar with me and I felt so alone and when I was finally able to sneak out and spend some time outside you didn't even lift an eyebrow at Captain America sitting across from you so thank you" he rambles and your eyebrows shoot up in surprise. You didn't even recognize him. Not in casual clothes that seem a bit too big for him. He nervously fumbles with his hands again at your silence. "I..." "See I even signed it. If you don't want to keep it you can sell it" as he tries to point out his signature he grazes your hand with his fingers and both of you wince. The blinding pain in your shoulder was gone within a second but it was replaced with warmth. As your eyes meet his you realize it wasn't just you who feels it. His hand is still on his shoulder as he looks at you with wide eyes and his beautiful lips apart.
"Please tell me you felt that too..." He whispers, his voice almost breaking. You nod as answer and continue to stare at him. He lets his hand fall and gets on his knees in front of you, his eyes stare in yours so desperate you want to wrap him up in a hug and blanket and protect him from the world.
"I didn't even recognize you" is all you bring out and he laughs. A beautiful melodic laugh as his hands softly grab your free one. Thousands of little butterflies spread in your body, the tingly sensation wandering through you until it reaches your soulmark. "I'm pretty sure you have a little constellation of stars on your shoulder" the blonde still kneeling in front of you says with a smile that's brighter than the sun. You chuckle and bite your lower lip. "What makes you think so?" You tease. He licks his lips and squeezes your hand softly. "Because I have the same" he whispers as if it's a secret for just the two of you and maybe just maybe it would be if he would have used his brain a few weeks back.
You stare at each other for a while longer till the rain starts again. "Shoot! I have a cap you can wear uh..." The Adonis in front of you gets up and hurries over to his bench to get his things. You chuckle as he comes back and pull out your umbrella. "We can just share this and sit for a while longer" you suggest as you open it. He stops for a second but then smiles easily as he plops down next to you and offers to hold it.
Tumblr media
You spend the afternoon talking, smiling and laughing. The conversation flowed easy and Steve even gave you a peek at his mark which was to no one's surprise the one you have too. Thus followed a lot of star related jokes from Steve. You laughed at every adorable pun and that seemed to spur him on even more. His eyes shining brighter with every laugh or giggle you gifted him, almost like the star littered night sky was trapped in them.
When the sun started to set Steve walked you home. He insisted that he did so because he wanted to make sure you're safe. You agreed, that was obviously the reason. Not the two of you wanting to spend more time together. And him holding your hand obviously was for keeping you safe too. And the kiss that you pressed on his lips when you arrived was definitely just a thank you. And the promise to see each other again after exchanging numbers was just part of your extensive security plan.
Steve slips into the tower through the door in the alleyway. He smiles at Stan before he takes the stairs, two steps at a time. He has never felt this happy and carefree before. He found his soulmate and you were the most beautiful and kind and amazing human being he knows. As he enters the common area he finds Bucky and Sam in front of a stack of paper and Natasha enjoying their aggregation.
"What's going on here?" Steve asks, his left eyebrow lifted. He grabs some water from the fridge and walks over to his friends. "It's all the soulmate applications that were filled out. We're going through them to see if maybe one of them is actually your soulmate." Sam explains and holds up one of the filled out forms. Steve smile widens. "But most of them are so obnoxious. Like this one" Bucky holds up another form. "I'm meant to be yours even if I had to get the soulmark tattooed." He reads, his frown deepening. Steve just laughs and takes the stack in front of his friends. He throws the stack in the recycling bin, much to the outrage of Bucky and Sam. He takes a sip from his water before the smile finds his lips again. "Well... Thank you for doing all this work but it was unnecessary. I found her and she's pretty amazing." His smile widens at the shocked faces of his friends.
"Excuse me, what?! You walk in here like nothing happened and then out of nowhere drop that bomb on us?!" Sam cries out. Steve chuckles which just seems to anger his friends even more. "Oh I'll hand your ass to you in tomorrow's sparring session!" Bucky promises as Steve skillfully avoids him. Finally Natasha just gets up and hugs him. "I'm happy for you. You deserve it, Cap." She says sincerely. "I hope you know that I'm doing a background check on her." Steve chuckles but hugs her back. "And that you're gonna break poor Clint's heart by not visiting him on his farm." Steve's laugh turns into a snort. "You mean I'm making him really happy because he now has an excuse to buy a new chicken? Can't have Cap Jr. without his soulmate. And I'm pretty sure she'll love the chicken once I take her for a visit." Natasha smiles fondly before she punches his shoulder slightly and leaves him to Sam and Bucky's complaining and investigations.

"Bruce, listen to me, and listen to me good," I speak into the phone, my voice a sort of choked up and strangled mess of syllables and affixes, "I am going to be just fine. Things are going to be tough, but I don't need you to worry about them. You have the world saving thing to worry about. I am going to find a new doctor, take another job to pay for health issuance, and I am going to get back on my medication in a few months. Everything is going to be just fine." I repeat the last bit more for my own benefit than for his.
I have just been informed that my current insurance no longer covers my medical care and I had called Bruce, a lifelong friend, to vent. Part of it was also a lie, I lost my insurance all together when I got laid off, but frankly I am not ready to admit that to anyone yet.
We have known each other since we were children, or I suppose since I was a child and he was just barely a teenager. Our families each owned a portion of a time share that just so happened to be a duplex. Every summer we would pack our things and head for the lake, taking  up residence next to the Banner family. Bruce and I's bedroom even shared a wall. As we got older, I would cover for him when he snuck out and he would make sure that I was always cared for. The eight year age gap never seemed to faze us, and we were fast friends who loved each other like siblings.
"Bubba, please," He began, my childhood nickname all but covers up the too familiar plead in his voice that I have begun to hear too often, "Just come to the compound and let me help."
"You know how I feel about going upstate." I try and swerve the subject and I know Bruce is shaking his head on the other end of the phone.
"This isn't about traveling upstate and you know it!" He shouts, but I don't bother pulling the phone from my ear. I can hear him breathe deeply over the line as he composes himself, "Bubba, I know you don't want to feel like you are burdening anyone, but you aren't okay? How about you come first thing on Monday and let me check you out. Everyone is going to be away on mission and I will sleep better knowing you have at least let me check you out."
I hum into the receiver as I mull over his words. As much as I don't want to inconvenience the Avengers, especially because they just got done taking down Ultron, I know I only have a weeks worth of medication left. I pick up the large bottle, dumping the oblong yellow capsules into my hand before triple checking the amount.
"Alright, Bruce," I finally speak, biting at my lip to mumble the words. "I will come up on Monday, but the second I am in the way, I am leaving."
"I will take it," He rumbles, the joy in his voice leaking over the line, "One more thing, Bubba,"
"What?" I question, wiping my eyes with my sleeve, attempting to remove the dried tears from my cheeks.
"You know that's the first time you have called me Bruce since you were seventeen." He points out, "I hated it."
Bruce's blunt words cause me to full on belly laugh, easing the tension in my shoulders slightly. He chuckles lightly through the phone.
"That's better." He simpers, "I'll see you on Monday, Bubba. I love you."
"I love you, too, Bruiser." I bid him before hanging up the phone.
When I pulled up to the compound on Monday morning, I was relieved to see that the grounds were quiet. A few odd agents roamed around outside but I felt rather invisible which gave me the courage to leave my car and head for the front doors.
A blond agent sat at the desk when I walked in, typing away on a computer, the phone receiver held loosely between his cheek and shoulder. He didn't even make eye contact when I approached the desk which left me standing there sort of awkwardly, bouncing slightly on the balls of my feet.
The agent stuck his hand out forcefully, eye contact still on his computer screen. 'ID' was all he said as he made a sort of grabby hand gesture with his outstretched hand. I riffled around in my bag before handing it over to him. He looked at it before handing me a 'Visitor Badge' in return point down the hallway to my right. I thanked him, but he didn't seem to notice.
I head down the large hallway now, scanning each of the nameplates on the doors as I go. There were so many that they start to blur together and I have to shake my head to keep focus.
"Bubba!" A voice calls from the hallway bisecting the one I am meandering down. I look up to see Bruce standing there, a wide smile on his face. His hands are piled high with files, a cup of tea balanced precariously atop them. His briefcase is slung over his shoulder.
"Hey there, Bruiser," I rush over to him, taking his mug into my hand before pulling him into a hug with an arm draping over his neck. "It's really good to see you."
"It's good to see you too, kid. Come on, lets go to the clinic and we can get started." I follow him down the hallways, twisting and turning around corridors before we finally make it to an annex building.
"Here we are, go ahead and put your stuff down. Did you bring your charts with you?" He inquires, setting his files down on the desk with a thud. He sits down into the desk chair, typing away at the computer.
"Here is everything as of three weeks ago." I slide a file across the desk, taking a seat across from him. "No 'how are you' or anything, huh?" I ask, setting my bag down on the floor next to me. Bruce looks up at me, a dumb smile on his face.
"I'm sorry Bubba. How are you?" He pushes his hair back out of his eyes carefully.
"Considering I drove all the way up here to see your ugly mug, I could be better." I wink at him. He rolls his eyes in return, flipping open my file.
"This thing is hefty." He murmurs, more to himself than to me. I can feel a blush begin to bleed its way over my chest. I have been sick for a while and Bruce has always known, but the idea of him looking over all the intimate details of it all has me anxious. "Lets go over this, then I'll go ahead and examine you. After that, maybe draw some blood and all that good stuff. Are you okay if I get a couple of lab workers to run the tests?"
"Sure, I suppose." I mutter, looking him over. It's been about a year since I last saw Bruce, but he really hasn't changed since his accident, or really much at all. His dark mop of curls still stuck out in all directions and his brown eyes still glowed. He wears a lab coat, and business attire underneath which still cracks me up if I think about it too long. I remember when he wore nothing but too-loose jeans and waffle shirts.
We spend the next few hours going over records and my health. He asks me so many questions that my head spins. One thing about Bruce, he has always been thorough. He takes blood samples and looks over my medication. Through the whole ordeal he has made himself impossible to read which only adds to the stress crawling under my skin.
"Well, thing's aren't great, but they aren't terrible either." Bruce takes off his glasses and rubs over the bridge of his nose carefully. The gesture does not inspire any sort of confidence. "Your whole digestive system is a mess. Your nervous system is shot. You never grew out of your asthma, I don't know why your quack of a doctor said you did. You've got a handful of mental health medication, which are at least working, and don't even get me started on your uterus."
"Jesus Christ Bruiser, is there anything that isn't wrong with me?" I laugh, running my hands over my thighs.
"I will get all of your medication ordered and sent to your place, okay?" He dodges my question, typing away at the computer in front of him. "While you are here, want to grab some lunch with me? We can hang out in the Avengers wing away from all of the suits."
"That sounds wonderful." I nod, pulling myself to my feet.
We spend the whole of lunch catching up and joking with each other. He tells me about his sort of 'thing' with Natasha and we go over my complete lack of love interests. We talk about the team and how he feels like he is finally doing okay with being a hero and that makes my heart swell with pride. We reminisce about being kids at the lake and about how we wish we could go back sometimes.
"Banner, want to tell me why you special ordered a whole pharmacy on my credit card?" A silky voice breaks over our laughter, pulling us from the bubble of nostalgia we have been in for the last couple hours.
Bruce's eyes lock over my shoulder and I turn to see none other than Tony Stark standing there, a tablet in hand. He is dressed in a breathtakingly expensive navy suit paired with a soft lavender dress shirt. A pair of purple tinted glasses sit on the bridge of his nose, the thick frames showcasing the arrent brown of his eyes. His lack of tie and open collar leaving a perfect view of the top of his chest. A beautiful redhead stands next to him, holding a few files in hand.
"Oh, hey Tony. Hi Pepper," Is all Bruce manages to say, the presence of the Playboy and his assistant catching us both off guard.
"Bruiser, you said there wasn't going to be anyone else here, let alone your boss," I ask, voice stern but wavering. I stand from the couch, trying to put some distance between the horrible anxious feeling in my chest and myself but only managing to move further from both men.
"He's not actually my boss-" Bruce begins but his words are cut off with a chuckle coming from Tony.
"I don't know which B-Word I like better, Boss or Bruiser." He laughs again, clapping his hands together. I manage a glare directed straight at Bruce.
"Seriously Tony?" Bruce asks, pushing himself from the couch. He takes a deep breath, shaking his head as if to try and shake loose some sort of idea. "Bubba, this is Tony, Tony, this is Bubba." He gestures between us, introducing us. "And that is Pepper Pots, Tony's assistant."
"Ah yes, Y/F/N Y/L/N, born and raised in the Midwest, high school graduate, no college degree, but it looks like you've got some certifications and  licenses under your belt," Tony reads from the tablet in his hands, "And  you are apparently friends with our resident rage monster, Dr. Banner."
I look at Bruce again, his head buried in his hands. I suddenly feel like a deer caught in the headlights, unsure of what to do in this situation. I have never had a stranger know quite so much about me.
"Bubba, answer a question for me, would you?" Tony asks, turning on his heel. I check with Bruce who gives me one of those 'I don't have the slightest' looks, shrugging his shoulders. "Why do you call him Bruiser?" There is nothing but amusement in his voice. He hands his tablet to Pepper, looking between Bruce and I in anticipation.
"Bubba," Bruce warns me. I can feel his eyes boring into the side of my face as I look at Tony. "Don't you dare." That just earns a laugh from Tony. I just shake my head, not bothering to answer.
"Not a secret I am going to share with a stranger." I finally say, bouncing on my toes. Bruce lets out a breath he was holding.
"Okay, okay, all in due time I suppose." Tony claps his hands, "What do you do, Bubba?"
"I am a party planner." I lie. Was, I was a party planner. My stomach twists with nausea.
"Not as of a week ago." Pepper says casually, clicking away at the tablet. She wears a bit of a scowl, looking like she wants to be anywhere but here.
"What?" Bruce's voice cuts through the tension that has built around me, closing me in. "What does she mean by that, Bubba?"
Bruce's voice has a special way of eating away at me, it has been that way since we were children. This isn't the first time he has caught me in a lie, but this is definitely the first time it wasn't a lie I told my parents. I can feel my stomach twist and it's not from the lack of medication in my system.
"I lost my job, but it's no big deal. I've sent out some resumes, I'll find something soon." I tell him, trying to play down the situation. I am slick with sweat now, anxiety thrumming under my skin.
"Sooner than you might think," Pepper speaks, "We want to offer you a contract to plan the rest of our events for the year. You come highly recommended it seems." She continues typing away, not bothering to look up at me. Tony stands beside her, a million dollar smile adorning his face.
I can't believe what I am hearing, a job offer has just fallen into my lap and I can't seem to make my brain work long enough to process it. Maybe it's the constant nausea, or maybe it's the situation, but my stomach rolls over.
"I'll send the contract for you to read over and you let me know by the end of the week what you think of it, okay?" Pepper turns and pulls Tony with her out of the room. I stand dumbstruck in front of Bruce, unsure of what to say. I bring my hands to my stomach, attempting to ground myself in the moment. I take a few deep breathes, the last couple minutes playing on rerun in m head.
When I finally look at Bruce, he is smiling brightly at me.
"What is it?" I ask, rubbing my hands together to try and ease some of my anxiety.
"I'm just looking forward to seeing you more often, that's all." He sits back down on the couch, kicking his legs up onto the coffee table. Confident bastard.
"You think I am taking this job?" I ask him, eyes wide.
"I think you will when you find out all of the amenities that come with it." He says like its a matter of fact. I scoff. "You get full medical coverage, including prescriptions. Vacation time, sick time, all of the good stuff."
I think about the information carefully, but there is doubt in my mind about taking the job- working for the Tony Stark means putting myself out there in a way I never have before. But then again, it's only until the end of the year, and I can tough out eight months if it means not having to worry about medical care. Being close to Bruce is also a plus. I've missed having him around.
"I'll think about it."
---
"I can't believe they expect me to move into the freaking compound." I announce to Bruce, my phone held between my ear and shoulder as I read the contract on my laptop. It has been three days since Pepper offered me job. The contract sat in my email collecting dust until this morning.
"It's a good gig, Bubba," Bruce begins. I can hear him munching on something over the phone. "Plus, it would get you out of that shitty apartment. I hate that you live there, and truth be told, I don't think you like it."
"Oh shut up, it's not so bad." I look around at my messy studio apartment, grimacing.
"It's not so bad if you like being able to get stuff out of your refrigerator from your bed."
"It makes for easy midnight snacking" I counter back, closing my laptop with a metallic click. I shift around on my bed, pulling my knees to my chest. "If I take this, and that's a big if, are we able to keep my medical shit under the rug? I'd prefer to not advertise it."
"You bet, it's not anyone's business anyway." He soothes me. "I've got to get back to it, but seriously Bubba, just take the job and quit doubting yourself. I love you, kid."
"I love you too, stupid." I hang up the phone.
I look over my studio again, thinking about how nice it would be to live somewhere bigger than a shoebox. I open my laptop again, eyes dragging over the contract as I scroll. I click reply at the bottom.
"Dear Miss Pots, I would officially like to accept your job offer..."
---
Bruce took Friday off to come and help me pack all of my belongings. It didn't take longer than half a day to pack, not that much had fit into my studio in the first place. It is Saturday now, the sun high up in the sky beating down on us as we unload the truck in front of the compound.
I look down from the truck to see Bruce standing there, hands on his hips as he looks up at me, smile wide.
"What is it, Bruiser?" I question him, cocking my eyebrow.
"I just can't believe we will be living in the same place again, we are going to be kids all over again," He is awed at the thought, "Hell, your quarters even share a wall with mine!"
"Somehow I believe it won't be just like it was growing up, unless I find you sneaking out of the window again to go make out with Sherry Fisher." I tease him, pulling another box from the small pile in the back of the truck.
"Dude, you were eleven, how do you even remember her?" He takes the box from me with a chuckle.
"I remember because I had to cover for your ass when your Mom called mine so see where you had been that morning! Do you seriously not remember any of this?" I question him. I begin to pull the last of the boxes towards the opening of the truck bed.
"No I don't, keep going, what did you tell her?" He asks, pulling down two small boxes.
"I told them that you had gone fishing on the other side of the lake, then I ran outside and hid your pole and tackle box down by the old tire swing!" I pull the last box off the truck bed, walking it over to the pile we've made by the side door of the compound. "Then, when you finally came home covered in Sherry's cherry lip gloss, I pushed you into the lake!"
"Now that part I remember!" He exclaims, pointing at me with one hand. A playful smirk decorates his lips and I can't help but laugh at the memory of him falling into the murky water. "You ruined my favorite shoes when you threw me in there!"
"But you still thanked me. Heaven hath no fury like Mrs. Banner." I laugh. Bruce shakes his head in agreement.
"You saved me from my mother's wrath and I will always be thankful for that." He picks up a couple of the boxes, placing them in a stack on the movers bed before tilting it back and pulling it through the door. I sling my duffle bag and backpack over my body before pulling a suitcase behind me as I follow Bruce into the compound.
It didn't take long before all of the boxes were piled in my living room. Bruce had left to get us lunch, leaving me behind to begin the unpacking process. I have a large living room, a kitchenette, a huge bedroom, and one and a half bathrooms all to myself. I know I don't have enough stuff to fill all of the space, and I am thankful that it came mostly furnished. I left the old furniture at the studio, wanting to make a completely fresh start.
I pull open one of the boxes, pulling out kitchen plates and mugs from the inside, but I don't get very far before there is a knock at the door. I swing it open carefully, making sure there aren't any boxes in the way. Tony stands on the other side clad in an Iron Maiden tee-shirt and a well fitting pair of dark wash jeans. He smiles that million dollar grin at me before stepping into my new quarters.
"It's good to see you're settling in." He begins, gazing around at all of the boxes. "I have a file for you, its the outline for the gala we are throwing next month. I need you to start planning it right away." He explains, holding out a folder for me. "Pepper usually drops this kind of stuff off but she is... off site at the moment."
"Ah, thank you, I'll get started right away." I tell him, hugging the folder to my chest. Without a warning, my watch on my wrist starts ringing, a shrill noise filling the room causing both Tony and I to jump. "Oh god, I'm sorry, this stupid thing keeps doing this." I hit the buttons, getting the alarm to stop. I ignore the "High Heartrate" alert that flashes across the screen before turning my attention back to Tony.
"Is everything alright?" He narrows his eyes at me, searching my face for any since of duress.
"I'm all good, I promise. Now if you'll excuse me, I'd like to get some of this unpacking done and then I'll get started on this baby right here." I pat the folder. He doesn't say anything, just offers me a nod in return before heading out the door the way he came. I close the door behind him before heading to the couch, carefully laying myself on the floor and propping my legs up on the soft cushions. This should get my heart rate down, I hope, but only time will tell.
The next month goes by steadily, most of the team off on missions. The only people I really interact with are Bruce, Tony and Pepper. I did manage to meet Natasha once as she was passing though on her way to her next mission post. I spend most of the time planning out the charity gala that Tony is throwing.
Roughly two hundred people are expected here tonight for a black tie party. The ballroom of the compound is decorated in deep navy and lavender, the same way that Tony was when I first met him. Something about the colors seemed to stick in my mind. Though they may be moody for late May, I opted for them anyway.
Each table was set with rose gold flatware and bone China.  Eucalyptus and baby's breathe center pieces sit on each table. The place cards were all hand written and embossed with matching rose gold foil. String lights ran from the center point of the room out towards all of the walls creating a chandelier like effect. The small orchestra was set up in the corner, near the dance floor and across from the bar. Overall everything was absolutely breathtaking.
"Hey, Bubba, this looks amazing," Bruce catches my attention as he walks into the ballroom. He spins around taking in all of the decorations, eyeing each detail before he focuses his attention back to me.
"Thanks Bruiser, I think so too. I have really gotta impress you guys. I am meeting the team for the first time tonight and probably like a hundred other people and I'd like to think of this room as my very first impression. I just hope it goes well, and that Tony will like it." I ramble as I adjust one of the place cards on the table.
"Everything looks fantastic and they are going to love you." Bruce pulls me into a hug, rubbing my back with his hand to ease the tension in my body. "Please tell me you have something to wear tonight."
"Excuse me, this is literally my job. Did you really think I was going to show up in these ripped jeans and this flannel?" I jab, pinching at his sides. He pulls away, bending awkwardly to avoid my fingers. "Now, I have to go meet with the caterers so I will see you tonight." I wave him off before turning to head to the kitchen.
It wasn't long before I got to get cleaned up and ready for the party. After a quick shower I stand in front of my closet mulling over my options. I could wear anything black tie, really. It's not like anyone is going to be focused on me at this thing. I shift the clothes around, pulling out a garment bag containing gray tuxedo. This will do.
I pull the garment out of the bag carefully before dressing myself. The deep gray of the suit complementing the purple silk dress shirt I styled with it. I put in some earrings before tying my long gray tie. I leave my hair down and curly, letting it frame my face. The last step is a pair of dress shoes. I hate wearing heels to these things and absolutely avoid them whenever possible.
By the time I head down stairs, Bruce is already standing in the ballroom talking to a couple of people. The party kicks off in about fifteen minutes and no part of me is surprised that he is early. My watch screams again, the 'High Heartrate' alarm sounding though out the room. I click the buttons quickly as I make my way deeper into the room.
He lights up when he sees me, excusing himself from the group he was talking to before walking over to meet me. He pulls me into his side, pressing a kiss to the top of my head.
"You look fantastic, Bubba," He smiles, "How are you feeling?"
"Nervous, this kind of feels like a make or break moment, you know?" I tell him, letting my eyes gaze over the table settings. He keeps an arm wrapped around my body protectively as he leans down to whisper in my ear.
"That's not exactly what I meant," His voice is stern, a ribbon of worry peaking through. His face is buried in my hair.
"Oh Bruiser, I am fine, don't worry. I took all my medication this morning, and I have the next two doses right here." I pat my chest signaling to the contents of my chest pocket. He smiles at me one of those bright smiles that lights up your whole chest with warm and I savor the feeling as it spreads throughout my chest. He gives me an encouraging pat on the back.
The rest of the night goes off without a hitch. Tony loves the whole ambiance of the party, and Pepper hangs off his arm in the most lovely way. It warms my heart to see them together in such a way, but it leaves a dark green part of my soul crying with envy. The whole night I have managed to meet all of Bruce's team- his friends. They welcome me with open arms, especially Natasha. I can't help but feel a bit bad about that fact, tearing her attention away from Bruce when I know he is the one biding for it.
As the night begins to slow, the open windows bring cool night air into the party. I am sat at the bar, one drink in my hand, the same one that I have been nursing for the past three hours. I'm not supposed to drink, not on these meds, but it's definitely time to celebrate.
"How long have you been sitting here all alone?" I catch a glimpse of Natasha in the mirror behind the bar. She wears a light smirk covered in dark red lipstick. The dress she's in hugs her figure nicely, stretching with her movements. There is no bling or sparkle to the piece, the dark blush color speaking volumes all by itself.
"Oh, not too long," I tell her as she slides up into the seat next to me. I run a finger over the rim of my glass, over and over again. She carries a martini in her hand, the lime green color makes me a bit nauseous, but I try not to let the feeling show.
"So," She begins, placing her neatly folded hands on her knee, "How long have you and Bruce been seeing each other?" My eyes go wide at her question, my hands coming to a stop.
"I beg your pardon?" I take a long sip of my drink, the immediate need to wet my throat almost overwhelming. I can feel my heartbeat quicken in my chest, bruising the inside of my ribcage with each insistent thump.
"Oh, you don't have to be embarrassed. You can tell me! Bruce is practically my best friend. I can respect the fact that he wants to keep your relationship a secret. After all, in this line of work, it's easier to appear alone. You're less of a target that way," She brings her drink up to her lips, sipping slowly at the toxic colored liquid. She eyes me carefully, I can almost feel each and every pass of her eyes over the expanses of my skin.
I am sure my whole body is drenched in sweat now, being on the opposite side of a deadly women with looks that could kill really does that to a person, but I do my best to compose what little of myself I can before offering her a smile.
"I'm not sure what Bruiser has told you, but we are just long time friends. He's also technically my doctor. And also my roommate? Is that what we'd all be called, since we live here together?" I shake my head, trying to shake my thoughts back into place, "Bruiser and I are a lot of things, but together isn't one of them," I tell her.
"That's really a shame," She mutter a bit, but there is something behind her voice that I can't quite read, "I see how you two look at each other, and he talks about you like you hung every star in the galaxy. The way his eyes sparkle when your name is even mentioned," She laughs a bit to herself, "I just thought there was something there,"
"The something is probably all of the residual anger from all those times I had to push him into the lake as kids," I laugh a bit, but Nat just looks at me inquisitively.
Before I can say anything else, my heart monitor on my watch begins to ring, loud and obnoxious. I push the sleeve of my tux up, fumbling with it for a moment before accessing the buttons to turn it off. Natasha's eyes dart down to it quickly, before she excuses herself and disappears back into the crowd.
Before I can even begin to process the conversation I just had with Natasha, I can hear Bruce's voice excusing himself through the crowd with a chorus of "Oops" and "I'm Sorry". I catch him in the mirror, concern written all over his face. The look he sends me makes my heart beat faster, setting off the monitor again. I am quicker to shut it off this time, but Bruce grabs my wrist and pulls me off of my seat.
"Come on, I'm calling it." He tells me, an air of concern in his voice. I can tell he is trying to stuff it down, to bury it under some sort of tone that booms with authority. He laces his fingers with mine and the heat that pours off his palm is stifling. He drags me through the crowd and into the elevator. After he asks for the floor with the nearest lab and the elevator begins its decent he turns to me, eyes full to the brim with worry.
"How much have you had to drink?" He questions me, fingers still laced with mine. It's like he's holding me there, like if he takes his hand away I might disappear into thin air.
"Technically less than one. You didn't let me finish my vodka lemonade," I tell him, crossing one arm over my chest in faux offense.
"Don't do that, Bubba," He scolds, rolling his eyes at me. I want to fight him, to tease him, to push his buttons just like I have done most of our lives but something stops me. Maybe its the look in his eyes, or the way that his face is written with concern, his brain working a thousand miles a minute at some new unknown problem. Maybe it is the conversation Natasha and I had, hanging every star in the night sky and all that. Whatever it is, I keep my mouth shut, eyes boring into Bruce's profile as he guides me out of the elevator.
The next few minutes blur by as I undress from the waist up down to my bar. Bruce is insistent on running an EKG, even though we did one a couple of months ago. I can feel how my skin blushes under his eyes, no doubt turning into a raspberry kissed sort of red. It doesn't help when his fingertips skim over my body, his gentle touches leaving a fire of energy in their wake.
I can tell he is flustered with the way he gingerly moves the band of my bra, avoiding all eye contact with me while he presses the lead to my skin. I want to tell him how unnecessary this all is, but the words are caught somewhere between my head and my tongue. I can't help but dwell on each press of his fingertips, the gentle way he touches me and how my heart seems to flutter.
Bruce begins to run the test, asking me to sit still and be quiet. I let my mind drift back to Natasha's words, and I can feel my heart spike the machine. Bruce runs a hand through his hair as he watches the results, squinting at the spike that has been recorded.
"I need to talk to you about something," I inform him, sitting up.
"After the test, lay back down," He places a hand on my shoulder, his fingers spread out enveloping as much flesh as he can reach. He still doesn't quite meet my eyes.
"No Bruiser, now," I tell him, a hand folding around the thickness of his wrist. I begin pulling off a couple of the leads with my other hand, causing Bruce to mumble something under his breath. "I need to ask you something, and it's kind of important," I chance a look at his face and it is scribbled with an expression that I have come to try to avoid; curious worry.
"What is it, Bubba?" He asks, pulling a stool over to sit in. He is looking up at me now, his hands folded in his lap. I hesitate for a moment, trying to collect my words. He takes my hands in his, holding them on my lap. The combination of his touch and his Earth ladened eyes put me at an even greater loss for words, so I spit out the first thing that comes to mind.
"Natasha said something to me tonight, and I need to know if it's true," I squeeze my eyes shut, almost too hard. I don't dare witness the look on his face as I continue. He hums for me to continue, squeezing my hands reassuringly. "She asked me tonight if we were a couple, and I told her no, because we aren't, and then she said that you speak of me in a way that lead her to believe otherwise and I guess I've just gotta know if that's accurate," The words spill out of me so fast I don't even have time to choose them, so they are born into the world from my tongue in a mess of syllables and rushed breaths.
When I finally crack an eye open, Bruce is staring up at me with a half cocked smile, a light chuckle falling from his lips. I shoot him a look, one of those 'are you serious' ones where my nose is scrunched up, head tilted to the side.
"So, they got to you too, huh?" He asks with a laugh. He lets go of one of my hands, bringing his up to rub at his brow. He takes both of my hands in his other, like he is once again afraid to let me go. "Tony cornered me and started asking me if you and I were seeing each other. I figured it was because he planned on hitting on you or something, because you know how he is. But what he said is starting to make some sense,"
"What the hell did he say to you?" I shake his arm a bit, the action causing a smile to bloom over his lips.
"After I told him that you and I were not, you know, an item, he laughed and said, "This is the first time I've lost a bet. Guess I'll have to call off the demolition crew,"" Bruce punctuates his sentence with air quotes and I can't help but laugh. The atmosphere shifts when we catch each others gaze mid laugh.  Everything going from light and playful to soaked in a new sense of intimacy. I cough a bit to cover it up. "I guess that's the narrative," He lets out a last little chuckle.
"Bruiser," I start, shying away from his eyes again, "Are you sure there isn't anything else here that I'm missing?" He locks eyes with mine before looking anywhere else but I swear I can feel the heat crawling off his hand and up my arms.
"You know, Bubba, this isn't exactly how I imagined this conversation going," He shrugs a bit, hand scratching at the light stubble on his cheeks.
"This conversation?" I question him, leaning a bit closer. He slides up between my knees, eyes still locked on his shoes.
Bruce brings his eyes up to meet mine and there is something in them I have never seen before. A youthful innocence that is just burning bright in his irises.
"You know, Bubba, it's you, it's always been you," He begins, eyes boring into mine, "Since you were nineteen it's been you. You're it for me," His words are dripping with candor and honey. "That's why every single woman I date always ends up being a sort of something. The only sure thing in my world is you." He drops his eyes and in that split second I can't help but snag a glance down at his lips.
My world was cracking open around me. Bruiser, Bruce, the man that I have know for all the years that it counts to actually know somebody is spilling his heart out to me and I can't help but feel like he is stealing the words right out of my mouth- my heart.
I pull my hands from his before leaning forward and grabbing onto the thick material of his lapels and pulling his body closer to mine. I stop pulling, our lips millimeters apart, giving him one final moment to back out and into the life we have been living up until we entered this room- but he doesn't. He stands, cupping my face in his hands before leaning down and capturing my lips with his.
He tastes like sour whiskey and cherries, a deadly mixture that causes me to pull him endlessly closer. Our bodies pressed together, he makes a move to pull me up from the exam table, his hands wrapping themselves in the tendrils of my hair. I could kiss him for hours and I don't know how we have ever stood in a room together before and not been kissing like this. Years of time wasted all because there wasn't a billionaire scientist and a deadly assassin to mettle into our personal lives sooner.
I push him back a bit, a small whimper leaving his lips as we part. I can't help the big, cheesy smile that breaks over my lips before I speak, "As my doctor, isn't this a sort of abuse of power, or something?" I ask him, flirtation laced in my voice. I run a hand over his tie then up to his cheek.
He breaks out into a smile too, "It's a good thing my co-worker Helen Cho is a hell of a doctor," He shoots back at me before leaning in and snagging another blistering his from my lips.
"But she's not a medical doctor," I mumble against his kisses, my smile to wide to kiss him back properly.
"Oh shut up, Bubba," He whispers before pulls away. "Get dressed, we have a party to get back to, and I want to dance with you,"
"You know I would have danced with you, anyway, Bruiser," He watches me get dressed, a small dopey smile on his face.
"It's not about the dance," he hums, "It's about the kiss that ends it."
