April 23rd 1952 was the debut of I Was A Communist for the FBI. It's hard to believe that the stories are not fiction but fact. 😳 They tell the true story of Matt Cvetic, a man who put his love for his country above everything else. The stories in this series were based on the actual records and authentic experiences of Matt Cvetic (portrayed by Dana Andrews) who infiltrated the top levels of the Communist Party for the Federal Bureau of Investigation from 1941 until 1950.

On 19th April 1914 Betty Lou Gerson was born. She was a very successful radio actress, starring in hundreds of shows, but is perhaps best known for lending her wicked voice to the character, Cruella De Vil, in the Disney animation, 101 Dalmatians.

This week, the world celebrates the birth of the literary genius William Shakespeare, who was born over four hundred years ago, in 1564. Joy and I have been adding some of his most famous plays and tragedies to RUSC this past week, and a new Shakespeare radio station is also available for you to listen non-stop. I'd wager the old time radio versions are much easier to understand than the blind panic I experienced during the first five minutes of listening at the theater recently! 🤣

There's something about Spring that makes everyone want to clean house and have a good old clear out ... Or, if you can’t bear to get rid of anything in case you might need it some day, or it’s too good to throw away ... you can always do like Fibber McGee and ram it all in to the hall closet! 😉 https://www.rusc.com/?s=537d3477d9

Lovely, lovely Spring! You can feel it in the first warm rays of the sun. You can hear it in the excitement of the birds twittering in the maples. You can see it everywhere. Spring does something to people, and spring fever was very popular during the golden age of radio too - which is reflected in how many shows there are. I've put together a collection of the best ones, and you'll find these on a special radio station, over at RUSC.com

I couldn't agree more - I especially enjoy the classic Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals. What unforgettable songs were in their films, by masters like the Gershwins, Cole Porter , Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin! ❤️
