Just had a thought about Layla and Steven making dinner together at the apartment and they're so happy and content today and make lots of dishes for no reason at all, just because they can.
Then it's eating time and Marc tries to take over and enjoy the spoils and Steven protests that he made it all so he should get it and Marc retorts with 'its the same body innit' in the most horrible british accent and then they start fighting over the control of the body.
Layla laughs at them, telling them it's only fair they shared, in a teasing voice. Steven complains, but reluctantly agrees with a pleading look from Layla. Marc wears a very smug look as he eats first.
From a lone window in the darkened corner, Jake Lockley watches their bright world. No one notices him. As always, on the outside looking in.
When everyone goes to sleep, he gets up and quietly walks over to the fridge.
Hesitantly, he opens it, feeling strangely vulnerable. He eats a few tentative bites of the cold leftovers alone on the table, pretending for a minute.
Pretending that maybe he belonged too.
It doesn't work. Everything was just too quiet. He was alone. As always. He suddenly feels the urge to cry, but as usual, stops himself.
His face hardens as he pushes the plate away, and puts on his cap and gloves. An impatient moon good awaits, he has people to kill.

I think Marc took most of the beatings from his mom because he was probably so focused on keeping steven out he probably also kept jake out.
I think Jake was there for marc to deal with the trauma and abuse from their father. Neglect is abuse and so is just being a bystander when your child is being beaten.
I think Jake dealt with the fact their father never helped them no matter how much Marc or Jake begged for help.
I think jake is like the protector because hes proactive he will step in unlike Marc's father.
I also think this could be the reason Jake and khonshu could have an interesting relationship. Like Jake seeing Khonshu as a father that actually does something to protect the system by giving them a healing suit .

a part of me is super worried about how the mcu will progress marclayla and stevenlayla…i don’t want mk s2 to just consist of a dumb love triangle or anything like that 🧍 marc and steven both love her n she loves both of them. they Should Seriously Sit Down And Talk About It (and also bc i have a sneaking suspicion that layla doesn’t even realize that marc and steven are not the same person so that’s gonna be Awkward??) i have more to say but 🧍🧍 idrk how to Say It
