The delight at finding what might actually be a previously-uncited primary source document about the history blorbo
vs
The resignation that because it's in a private collection, the chance that they'll even respond to me within the promised time frame is slim, and then the document might only be available for in-person viewing at some obscure estate in the middle of nowhere in another country, and then it might not even be what it says it is
Fight!

i saw someone spell "your excellency" as "you're excellency" and that gave me the vision of some aide de camp staring down george washington going "you are excellency. you are excellency. you are excellency." talk about positive affirmations.

*it doesn't have to include Canonically LGBT Characters or even be explicit about the queer subject matter. For example, if you've read a particular book knowing it had queer subtext for the queer subtext, or specifically because you knew the author was gay and you went in with the intent to Read A Queer Author, that can count. The same goes for queer playwrights/filmmakers. Obviously the line can get fuzzy here but I'll just trust you all to answer in good faith.

Holy crap I posted something on AO3...
My entry for this month's @hamevents2024 getting it in at the last possible minute.
***
The additional heat is instantaneous and awful. Out of instinct John leans away.
To which Lafayette responds by bonelessly falling across his lap.
“Lafayette-” John grunts, tries to extract himself without having to move. He tenses as Lafayette shifts against his hip. He might blush if his cheeks weren’t already so red from the day’s exposure to the sun. “My friend, it is much too hot to… to touch in any way.”

what if horses could do back flips and body slams like wrestlers. what then. you get on the horse, it bucks and then goes "nah this isn't worth it" and it slams down on its back and boom KO, no equestrians ever. civilization halts.

Three modes of feelings toward characters as the writer is writing them:
These fuckers (affectionate)
These fuckers (annoyed)
These fuckers (literal)

Washington as cynical-old-man-Batman and Hamilton, Lafayette and Laurens as the boys desperately looking for a father figure that he adopts, trains, traumatises and spits out again in the name of justice.
Surely this has been done?

i am so glad i'm not the only one who utilizes '&c' in my day-to-day 2024 life
What they don't tell u about being a history student is that all of the speech patterns from the primary sources will rub off on u 😔

Which Underrated Woman from History are You?
Finally got around to making a uquiz featuring six of my favourite women from history! You can either get someone from the French Revolution, Roman Republic (I know, how unexpected!) or from 1700s/early 1800s.
Featuring scientists, writers, politically active icons and a few poets whose lives were intertwined with theirs, as a treat!
Enjoy and thanks everyone for sharing! ✨
