saw a mondrian (ok, well, many) in person yesterday... the lines weren't entirely exact; you could see a slight bleeding edge. got giddy

worked on that poem so hard... it feels like I ran a marathon... listened to new wave & harlan ellison interviews while editing it... had a realization halfway through the day that easter is a holiday & is today (well, orthodox easter is on a different date) & some people celebrate it... my family doesn't, so it didn't occur to me earlier... it was such a relief to finally send those words off after the meticulous revising & formatting... zzzzz... they're going to ask me what I did with my sunday, aren't they?

it is a miracle I managed to "turn out well" (as asserted by others, a notion I agree with however) in adulthood... I was once an elementary schooler reading ligotti & schopenhauer... my childhood was sincerely like the kate gompert parts of ij¹... but here I am! at last, enjoying life. in a couple weeks, it'll have been a year since my formerly lifelong depression mysteriously dissipated entirely. unfathomable, but tangible.
¹ the other day, my artist mentor called me "a savant" for reading ij @ age 14... really, turning the page was merely a facet of the endurance necessary to live (aided by listening to gy!be on the daily.) you do what you must...

saw eoe last night with a friend
packed theater, those who arrived later struggled finding seats
half of the moviegoers wore anime shirts
there was another guy with a leather jacket...
someone was dressed as shinji
the shrill screams skewered our ear drums (good)
one of those who arrived later (& thus was seated towards the front) brought rei & asuka plushies... during the live action movie theater part, the person in the film itself with the rei & asuka plushies was also seated in the front... I wonder how this person in our theater felt seeing that...
the movie theater bit of eoe was so surreal... I turned to my friend & whispered "that's us."
the second half's visuals were immensely bolstered by the theater setting
rather respectful crowd, no jokes cracked
within the room existed camaraderie
there was clearly a dad with his two teens who'd been dragged along & had no idea what he was in for... my friend could hear his brief bewildered reactions
walking out of the dark theater & into bright reality helped enhance the message... when you watch it at home, alone, you are not forced away from the fictions nearly inherent to the screens we occupy ourselves with & can thus choose to close yourself off from the world after seeing it, continuing the rejection eoe decries... but at the theater, everybody culminated into the tangible lobby & discussed it amongst each other... we went about our lives after; my friend & I had mexican food for dinner
beautiful experience
