we haven't had a true tumblr sexyman in years. Sans was like the last one. as ((an)) artist, not all artists, but as one of them. Firstly! definitely reblog posts, reblog what you enjoy etc. But if you want to save art you fear an artist might delete you can just... right click save it to a folder on your computer. Whenever I delete art I do it for a reason. Reason might be: I no longer feel like it represents my values/skillset In which case deleting it might be pointless cuz people can still enjoy stuff I no longer feel is a good show of my skill anymore. OR, I delete it because the platform it's on is no longer a platform I want my art to be on. In which case I would much prefer someone right click saved my art than have it stay on the platform. It could be I no longer want 'future users' to be able to find that art. This might be because I'm a greedy asshole or because users of the platform have decided the art I deleted is grounds for mass harassment. Doesn't matter I no longer want it available so I delete it. This doesn't mean I want people to stop reblogging art, definitely not. I hope everyone reblogs everything that brings them those slivers of serotonin but like do it for you, if you want to make an archive you can also just save images. You don't bear the burden of creating a curated archive of art for other people to enjoy in the future. Your blog is for you to reblog stuff to you enjoy.

also in the face of people deleting their blogs, that's another reason why you guys are supposed to reblog stuff. if somebody deletes a post, your liked version will disappear, but the reblogs remain. i'm insane about preservation and archival, every single piece of art i have ever enjoyed is reblogged on my 450k+ posts main account so if the artists leave I still have their work. i even tag things (though just with the main fandom tag) so I have years and years worth of fanworks saved that the terrible general site search will never show you.

please reblog art. not just to support the artists who make it and share their efforts, but also so you have your own copy of their works saved for yourself, and the future users of this site.

The only time you go "why can't they just be friends" is when you're looking at something wherein they're not. Which to my experience, and I'm not encompassing all experiences in a tumblr post, is a bunch of fucking fanart. And if you're annoyed by people romantically shipping characters instead of friendshipping characters as they are in the canon. Make your own fucking fanart or just re-enjoy the canon. A lot of fanart is not made to be complex and dynamic. It's a hobby where people smash dolls together in a way they find interesting. This means that a lot of the doll smashing 'content' you see is not going to be smashed together in a way you find pleasing. If fanart isn't giving you what you want make your own. Commenting "why can't they just be friends" on gay ship art be it a drawing or writing or anything is gonna be read as homophobic.

Pick up the pen, babe, be the change you want to see in your fandom.
