Im going to bed

a few days ago i was walkin past a basketball court and a ball Flew at me and i

1) didn’t flinch

2) caught the ball

3) threw it back at the guy

4) responded to his “thanks bro” with a nod

it was like the ghost of some guy named chad took over me so i didn’t like embarrass myself

The other day I was washing my hands and another woman came out the stall a couple seconds after I did. She wasn’t cis, and a different woman waiting for someone to finish up looked angry and opened her mouth to say something. Before she could, I smiled real friendly a this woman who’s just trynna wash her hands and told her I loved her skirt, and we started talking clothes.

The waiting woman was still clearly pissed but she didn’t say anything because she knew I wouldn’t have her back. That’s all it took to keep some poor lady just trynna scrub up from getting harassed.

Sometimes doing the right thing is really hard and kinda scary. Other times all it takes is making it clear that you won’t support someone’s nastiness. It’s a little enough thing to do your part.

millenial generation got a little too beaten down and miserable but im delighted to see that gen z seems to be frothing at the mouth and out for blood

So PT barnum was used for The Greatest Showman. Was he a selfish dick? Yeah. And george washington owned slaves and alexander hamilton wasn’t all that much of an abolisionist. So how’d Hamilton happen? The 60’s were an absolutely miserable time for anyone not the conventional white male but Hairspray certainly spun it to seem hopeful. Musicals aren’t made for historical accuracy, you want that you go watch a documentary. In this day and age there’s no excuse for getting your information from a musical. If you can access the movie, you can google real facts. We don’t go to musicals to be informed. We go to be touched. Theater is about making people happy, finding something good in a bad thing. It’s entertainment. And imo the good ones are always a little revolutionary. They took a selfish man, slapped his name on a movie, hired and paid all the people he exploited, and turned it into a story that would have scandalized him to inspire an audience that would have scandalized him. Good.
