Preparing for the Pilgrimage.
The best thing about going on location? Going home.
Since March of this year, we’ve been living on location for a Marvel movie and have been dying to go home. It’s always nice to see another part of the country, and I’m always grateful that my husband has work, But this has been the longest job, and the farthest away from home that I’ve gone on. The state of North Carolina is beautiful but the weather, bugs and locals are getting to me. No one likes us here “taking their jobs”, but they’re more than happy to take my money when I shop at their stores. Go figure.
With the wrap date nearing, my growing belly and the holidays fast approaching, I’m growing anxious, excited and ANTSY!
All I want to do is nest. There’s so much to do at home and I can’t do anything from here but make lists! Need to get the new baby’s nursery in order, get Hunter’s toddler bedroom all set up for him, refurbish our living rooms and rest of the house to accommodate our growing family… I’m pretty much driving myself crazy over it, and my poor husband is going to have mountains of work to do when we get home. Thankfully, being on such a long job means he’ll have a good amount of time off before the next one starts! Were going to be driving home, which I’m sort of dreading… I drove here with my mom and Hunter, who at the time was only 7 months old and our 2 dogs. That’s from California to North Carolina for anyone wondering… It took us 5 days only stopping to pee and sleep. This time around we’ve got a toddler who hates being cooped up for long, a pregnant lady who has to pee every 30 minutes and a dude with little patience or know-how when it comes to a road trip with a screaming kid. Did I mention we’ll be traveling home Thanksgiving week? Sounds fun.

This being my first post, I’d like to elaborate on the URL.
“Movie Widow” is a term that has been coined by women such as myself, who find themselves, for the most part alone as their husbands are enslaved to the production world. 16-18 hour days, some times 7 day weeks for months at a time, and the dreaded location films leave us to fend for ourselves while the men are at work.
Don’t misunderstand me. I am a lucky lady… I love my life. I love my husband and I love our son(s) - one is on the way. But sometimes, it can get a little lonely, and frustrating and all kinds of things, and I like to gripe just like anyone else! In some cases it can be a lot like being a military wife, of course with out the heroic patriotism. Even though my husband blows things up for a living...
