[Kaito is silent for a moment more before he stands up almost shakily, still cradling the plushie. He finally looks Tsukasa in the eyes, and he looks more disheveled than he’s ever allowed himself to be in Sekai. He’s tired, and now with this revelation he can’t hide it any longer.]
…It’s not your fault, Tsukasa… none of you… nobody deserves this.
[Kaito looks back down at the plushie, running a hand over their head one last time.]
Kitty… you always were the most selfless of us all…
[Kaito doesn’t know exactly who he’s talking to anymore.]
[Tsukasa makes it back to the tent, still looking distraught despite having wiped his tears away. He glances around, carefully holding the lifeless plush in his arms before he eventually spots Kaito.]
Kaito…
[Tsukasa starts off, hesitant.]
… Kitty's… not…
[Tsukasa backs out of finish the sentence, instead holding out the plush for Kaito to take.]

[Kaito turns from where he’d been sitting alone in the empty audience, standing up when he sees Tsukasa. However, as soon as Tsukasa starts speaking and he sees the plushie in his arms, something in Kaito breaks.
The cane he always used to bring magic and light to the shows of the SEKAI clatters to the ground, the glass on the head fracturing. Kaito can’t bring himself to care as he scoops the lifeless plushie into his arms and drops to his knees, silent tears escaping. They eventually evolve into quiet sobs, his shoulders shaking as he cradles the plushie to his chest.]

kitty was.. they were always tied to rui, so when he died..
but, kitty wasn't able to pass on- effectively a ghost like rui was- only the thing tethering them to this world was that, for some inconceivable reason, they were holding tsukasa's memories of rui. they knew this- and presumably aside from their state that was the reason they were hiding. but they returned tsukasa's memories to him. so now..

Rui… I need you to listen to me very closely, ok…? What happened to you is not your fault. It’s nobody’s fault. There is far too much self-blame going on in this Sekai for my liking, if you ask me… It was an accident. Nothing more. We lost a precious friend to it, but… it was nobody’s fault.
As for here… We’ll be ok, in the end. The wound is still fresh, and, well… the passing of a sekai owner is not something we thought we were ever supposed to be prepared for. We can deal with a great many things, but…
