Two events in The Longshed tonight Come and join us for a reception to open the Festival. We have the Angel bar open from 5PM and our friends at Woodyard Pizza are supplying the nibbles! At 6 we will be joined by leon clowes with a couple of short audio-visual pieces drawing on the life and poetry of celebrated Woodbridge poet Edward Fitzgerald, notably his translation of The Rubáiyat of Omar Khayyám.  7pm We are showing a film by Matt Jolly of last year’s sold-out concert in St. Marys. The film features an improvised performance by Tom Rogerson and Talvin Singh and some beautiful cello and viola da gamba music from Clare OConnell and Liam Byrne. Brian Eno introduced the concert and talked about his early life in Woodbridge “A very interesting little town. There were four thousand English people and about 17,000 Americans within a 5-mile radius.” After the film which will be in two halves there will be a Q&A with Tom Rogerson about working with Eno. Neil McGlone from the Riverside will be taking and asking the questions 10PM Finish for the last trains home. A lovely evening in store - we hope you will join us for one or both events. Woodbridge gets ready to welcome ambient electronic musicians and visitors to the town for the second Woodbridge Ambient Music Festival this weekend Producer Jan Pulsford says ‘Last year Brian Eno, introduced the weekend saying how glad he was that ambient music has come back to Woodbridge. We have many music makers and fans travelling from all over the UK to attend the three-day event.’ The events start on Friday evening, based in the Longshed on the bustling Whisstocks Square, celebrating the beautiful River Deben on Saturday with a surprise Concert from Tom Rogerson and friends in the Octogon Room. Sunday we are ‘Filling up the Spaces’ with art and music in the Community Hall. The Angel is hosting an electronic music open mic - there will be something for everyone! “We want people to come and be inspired by a genre of music that has its roots in this area.
