When I get sad I listen to Christmas music and think about the twinkling lights and the way the cold air smells and the sunrises and even though winter is my least favorite season it has the best sunrises with all the long shadows and I think about the frost on the grass in the morning and having a Christmas tree up and most importantly I think about dancing. Winter is such a dancing and twirling season. I waited so so so long for spring but I miss the string lights and I miss my cloudy breath and wearing trench coats and scarves and wearing double socks to bed. Saying I hate the cold in the cold and then sitting in front of the heater all night. Picking out gifts for my friends. Watching the dusk emerge behind the glass while I steam hot lattes. Counting down the days to Christmas and New Years. Watching Over the Garden Wall and moving my record player into the living room so we can all hear Joni Mitchell. Making big plans for summer. Buying tickets and forgetting about them. Always thinking about whats to come and never what is there. Perhaps the spring will set and I will still be thinking about the cold and suddenly I will find myself there again, thinking, I miss the long days and the sprinkles on in the afternoon.
