Hi yeah me here to overanalyze Morro and DOTD again
Morro's short moment of redemption carries like. A lot of weight to me. Because not only did he show himself as wanting to do better, he was also already beginning to abandon his "i am better off alone/am stronger because I don't need others" mindset. Did he do this intentionally/did this register to him? Probably not! But it happened!! Bare with me here okay
If he'd still been in that mindset, he would have gone after Cole and to Yangs temple on his own right. He still would've technically been doing something good, but it would've been on his own terms. He would have either believed himself capable enough to defeat Yang, or believed it was an impossibility that Wu and the Ninja would trust him at all. Or both.
But instead, he recognized that that kind of thing wouldn't work. It *hasn't* worked. He is not capable of this without others. He needed to risk it and tell Wu, risk it and tell the Ninja, risk offering that hand, even though he knows that in doing so his time will be up and he'll just have to watch them leave to hopefully see it through.
And it WORKS, because the only reason Cole survived wasn't because someone else appeared to fight beside him, it was because he saw the people he cared about were there for him and it gave him the strength to go on.
The writers were most definitely 100% intentional with all of this and I am most definitely not just reading into everything and overanalyzing everything i possibly can. Don't worry about it everything is fine

Sometimes I think about how Kai made his way out of an inferno by accepting that being the green ninja wasn't meant for him but that didn't make him any lesser while Morro died in an inferno because he couldn't let go of the idea of being the green ninja and viewed it as his only source of worth. And then I lose it a little

Dude season 5 is so weirdddd. Like don’t get me wrong it’s one of my personal favorite seasons but like it’s weird, y’know?
It sets up all these emotional stakes at the very beginning of the story, but then never actually follows up on them until wayyy later. It introduces morro’s backstory/beef with Wu in the first couple episodes, but I’m pretty sure there’s no meaningful follow up on that until like… the finale?? When they meet each other during the final battle I think?
Same goes for Lloyd and his lingering grief over his father. That gets touched on early on as well, but then all the possession stuff happens and we don’t really get to see much of that play out until later on in the story. We only see it addressed at the last possible moment, when Lloyd goes into the cursed realm in the finale.
And so there’s this long stretch of time in the middle of the season where, sure, we’re bouncing around, we’re following the clues from Wu’s staff, we’re racing against morro, we’re doing things, the plot is moving; however there is minimal emotional weight to any of it. And to an extent I’m okay with that (the stakes are high and the constant moving around keeps things exciting, I’m a sucker for that kind of thing I guess), but it’s still so strange?? Like why are we doing it like this????
And the fix for this is super simple too. Literally just show us a scene of Lloyd and Morro interacting with each other. You could bring up Morro’s beef w Wu and reinforce his motivations for doing any of this in the first place. You could show Morro using Lloyd’s grief as a way to get into his head or something. And, you know. Showing your main antagonist clash with your main protagonist is kinda. Writing 101. That’s generally something you wanna do. In your story.
You could literally include that one scene somewhere in the middle of season 5 and it would make the whole thing that much more cohesive.

being a morro fan is so difficult because on one hand my head tells me that boy should stay dead. like he had a perfect death and bringing him back would really just accomplish nothing. but on the other hand THATS MY GUY? THATS MY FAVORITE GUY? HES GOING TO COME BACK NEXT SEASON GUYS. TRUST HES GOING TO BE REVIVED.

Hi everyone! To kick off our seasonal Morro events, our first one will be the spring collab event!
This year our theme is flowers/flower language.
Here's how it works: Sign-ups for a flower will occur in April (though this is not a deadline and you may continue to sign up for flowers in May).
Please note: you do NOT have to sign-up in order to participate in this event but it does help provide us a way to see who is doing what and help participants find others to collab with!
Participants will then create a work (or multiple if they wish!) that fits the theme/flower they chose and this will be posted any time from May 19-31. Anything goes--fics, art, gifs, cosplay, etc. As this is a "collab" event, we do encourage participants to collab with others and try their hand at any flowers that have not been claimed yet! You're also more than welcome to do multiple flowers/works!
For posting, simply post on tumblr any time from May 19 to 31 and tag this blog and we will reblog it here!
Rules:
No hate (racism, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, etc) will be allowed, except in the context of exploring those themes.
OCs, AUs, and other non-canon content will be allowed.
