The Abuse, Torture And Murder Of Adrian Jones

The murder

The boy in the pictures above was named Adrian Jones, and he was just seven years old when he died at the hands of his father, Michael Jones, and stepmother, Heather Jones. This is Adrian’s story.

Not much is known about Adrian’s life before living solely with his father, except for what his older sister has revealed. According to her, their mother neglected them and the older siblings had to care for the younger ones. Adrian’s parents split up due to his father being unfaithful, and Michael received custody of Adrian.

Adrian lived with his father and his new wife Heather and seven other children in a house in Kansas. Outwardly, it seemed to be a quite normal family; however, what happened inside the house sounds like a real-life horror story. The house was filthy and dead rodents, syringes, and pornography was lying all over the house. A pool filled with filthy water was also on the property. Living in the house was nothing but a living hell for all children, but especially for little Adrian. Michael and Heather spent most of their time torturing and starving the boy, and their methods are truly sickening. They sometimes forced Adrian to stand in the pool with the filthy, cold water up to his neck for hours. Other times, they strapped him to an inversion table and blindfolded him or forced him to stand up completely straight by using bandages to fasten cutting boards to Adrian’s body. Adrian was also beaten and forced to stand outside during the colder months for hours. In 2015, when Adrian was seven years old, he was severely malnourished. What makes this story even more horrifying is the fact that Heather documented the abuse by taking photos and videos of the boy.

The exact date when Adrian died is not known, but it was sometime in November 2015. Michael and Heather strapped Adrian to a chair inside the shower stall and then left him to die. Adrian’s body was in the house for at least two weeks after he died while Michael tried to figure out how to get rid of the body. Michael’s solution is truly sickening; he bought a couple of pigs, starved them for a few days, and then let them eat Adrian’s corpse. The only thing left of Adrian was some of his bones.

The terrifying story about what happened inside Michael and Heather’s house came to light after Heather called the police in late November 2015. She reported that she had almost been shot by her husband, and the story quickly unraveled as soon as the police got to their house.

Trial and aftermath

Michael and Heather Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree murder. They were sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after serving 25 years.

What makes this case even more tragic is that Adrian could have been saved. He informed social services of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father, but nothing was done to protect him. Adrian was also diagnosed with PTSD at the age of 5.

Serial Killer John Christie

The murders

The year was 1899: it was almost the beginning of a new century, and in the small village of Northowram one of the most infamous serial killers and necrophiles was born. His name was John Christie, and he grew up in an unstable household. His father was emotionally unavailable and abusive, and his mother would coddle him. John was also bullied by classmates, which resulted in feelings of inferiority. He was often teased because he suffered from impotence and had failed several times at sex.

John enlisted in the army during World War I and was injured in a gas attack. He later claimed that the attack resulted in him only being able to talk in a soft and quiet voice. He left the army in 1919, at the age of 20. The following year, John married a woman named Ethel Simpson, but their marriage was rocky from the start. Ethel suffered a miscarriage, and John was unfaithful to his wife. They separated in 1924 but reunited ten years later. The couple moved to Rillington Place in London.

The first murder occurred in 1943. The victim was Austrian Ruth Fuerst, a 21-year-old prostitute. John took Ruth to his home, where he strangled her with a belt. He kept the body underneath his floorboards but later buried it in his garden. His second victim was Muriel Amelia Eady, who suffered from bronchitis. John told Muriel that he could cure her with a special mixture, but it was in fact a gas that rendered Muriel unconscious. John sexually assaulted Muriel, strangled her, and buried her in the garden.

In 1948, John and Ethel had two new neighbors moving in next to them. It was a young couple named Timothy and Beryl Evans, who shortly after they moved in had their first child together, Geraldine. Beryl soon got pregnant again, and John told the couple that he could carry out an abortion. The couple accepted, but John ended up strangling both Beryl and Geraldine. He placed the bodies in an outhouse, and they were soon discovered. Timothy tried to explain to the police that John must have murdered his wife and daughter, but they did not believe him. Instead, they accused Timothy of the killings. Timothy supposedly confessed to the murders, but this confession may have been fabricated by the police.  He withdrew his confession, but was found guilty of the murders and hanged in 1950.

John’s next victim was his wife, Ethel. He strangled her in bed one morning in late 1952. He told different lies about his wife’s whereabouts and emptied her bank accounts. John also sold Ethel’s jewelry and clothes to make ends meet.

The sixth victim was a prostitute named Katherine Maloney. She was strangled with a rope. His next victim was Rita Nelson, who was six months pregnant at the time of the killing. She was, just like Katherine, strangled with a rope. John’s final victim was Hectorina MacLennan, and she was killed in the same manner as the others. He stashed the bodies of his three final victims behind a wall in his house.

The murders came to light in 1953 when John decided to move out of Rillington place. A neighbor was allowed to use John’s kitchen, and he discovered the last three victims when he peeled away the wallpaper in the kitchen. John was arrested shortly thereafter, and the media soon started to report about the gruesome murders. It was also soon revealed that John had engaged in sexual activity with some of the bodies after he had killed them.

Trial and aftermath

John Christie confessed to murdering the women found in his house and backyard, but also confessed to killing Beryl and Geraldine Evans. He only stood trial for the murder of Ethel, and pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. He was found guilty and sentenced to death by hanging. He had the same executioner as Timothy Evans.

A doctor testified at the trial that John suffered from a hysterical personality, and another psychologist believed that John’s claim that he could only speak in a soft and quiet voice due to the gas attack was false and that he lied for attention. This psychologist believed that John suffered from some type of personality disorder.

The Murder of Christian Larsson

The murder

26-year-old Christian Larsson had struggled with substance abuse for a long time when he decided to go to rehab. However, he decided to wait just a little while longer, since he had hurt his jaw badly and wanted it to heal properly before rehab. Christian’s dream of becoming sober never became reality; he was tortured and murdered before he had the chance.

Christian was brutally tortured by three men; Dennis Jonsson (19 years old), Johan Flykt (20 years old), and Andreas Clarström (19 years old). They forced Christian into a bathtub where they showered him with ice-cold water. They also hit him several times with a hammer and punched him in the face. The perpetrators then started to stab Christian in his stomach, back, arm, legs, and feet. They ended the torture by slitting his throat. The motive? Christian reportedly owed some money to one of the murderers and refused to give it to him.

Jonsson, Flykt, and Clarström then took the body to a wooded area, where they dismembered Christian’s body. They also filmed the ordeal, and they laughed while they detached the head from the rest of Christian’s body. All of Christian’s teeth were pulled out, probably to make identification harder. They wrapped up all of the body parts in black plastic bags and dumped them in a lake.

Christian’s body was found several weeks later. One of the perpetrators had told a friend about what he and the others had done, and the friend reported him to the police. All three of the murderers were soon arrested.

Trial and aftermath

Jonsson, Flykt, and Clarström were all found guilty of murder. Jonsson was sentenced to 12 years in prison, Flykt was sentenced to 11 years and Clarström was sentenced to ten years. They have all been released, and Johan Flykt died in March 2020.
