“Whoa, what’s this?” Dimple pointed at a shallow ceramic dish on Reigen’s desk. “An ashtray?” “No,” said Reigen sharply. He didn’t think Dimple knew about his old vice. “It’s a candy bowl. Sometimes kids come in here, and it helps them feel welcome. Adults, too.” Like an obnoxious cat, Dimple sat in the dish. “Yeah, I bet,” he said, grinning smugly as Reigen glared at him. “That’s why there’s no candy in here.”

Mermaid Reigen was not born with an ability with his voice, like the sirens. This lead him to be outcastes by the other mermaids and his family. But still, he’s not powerless, he has magic in his eyes, able to entrance humans with just a look. Still…he is jealous of his best friend.

Serizawa is Reigen’s childhood best friend forever! ( hashtag not a serirei au)

Teru is a prince here. He uses this shell to turn

Mermaid Au Teru would be one of the bratty human princes that doesn’t really care for the ocean life, prob litters a lot until he gets to know Mermob. He gets to understand their world.

& especially when he’s given an enchanted necklace that turns him into a mermaid temporarily

As long as the necklace is under the water, he’ll be a mermaid. it gives him a perspective of the beauty of he sea. He meets other merfolk too like the others weeee

He is fascinated

I bet he still don’t have present parents though, that’s why he doesn’t care both the ocean

[added this here bc I don’t remember if I’ve said it before]

Dimple is Prince Teru’s right hand man and is human. He is also separate from Yoshioka. Dimple has long black hair and dark green eyes. Yoshioka looks like he is, but no suit and he’s not wealthy.

This is Serizawa! Not completed yet! He has a powerful ability with his voice, luring people and mind control, but he doesn’t use it. Definitely much more timid, but he is still a capable mermaid.

ahh soulmate aus are so interesting to come up with. The first thing that came to mind for me was the colourblind one, where everyone is born being unable to see colour.

[on the spot, delusional mode]

Actually, can you imagine, Dimple being able to see colour first because he can see Reigen but Reigen can’t see him? The abundance of colours when he sees the guy but denies it.

Reigen on the other hand, assumes the colour is from the 1000% powers flowing through him and not any sort of soulmate connection. He’s disappointed he isn’t able to know who his soulmate is but he barely cares ag this age, not being interested in getting into a relationship anyway

Another sort of au is them feeling the connection after being fully in love? I dunno! It can be all sorts of things, like, at the end of the anime where they’re trying to talk to Shigeo, and they have a moment to talk before Reigen almost dies. Dimple realises that they have a connection, and it’s love. They don’t immediately get together

It’s just something they talk and eventually, realise that they’re soulmates somehow. Their souls are connected, maybe that’s why it’s easier for Dimple and Reigen to be in sync together, but it’s not just that supernatural connection, they’re just genuinely in love, and they love each other for them, nothing else.

Different other scenario is the red string one, maybe Reigen isn’t able to see his because ekubo is dead. So, he thinks he’s been born without one, but, the string has always been there. And only the espers can see his string, so he just grows up, thinking he’d be alone

So many thoughts and it’s hard to explain haha.

ekurei enjoyers has anyone considered an ekurei soulmate au. i wanted to make one up and then i realized that so many tropes just feel like. both parties have to be alive. and like do soulmates even work for ghosts. i have a lot of questions and few answers . if anyone has any ideas i am So interested please
