Using Sokka as a crutch, Yue slowly made her way out of the Oasis after the creature that the avatar seemed to be controlling some how.

“Is the avatar okay?” Yue asked as they slowly made their way through the destruction of the Southern Water Tribe citadel.

Sokka’s mouth lay agape with awe as the creature rose, moving with a vengeance out of the pond and towards the direction Zhao had fled.

“That fire general’s got a lot coming.” He muttered, looking back down at her with serious eyes. “We should stay here. You need to rest.”

“I’m fine,” Yue said trying to get out of Sokka’s arms and hurry after the creature, she wanted to make sure that her people were alright. She was a princess, it was her duty.

But the weakness in her limbs returned and she found herself collapsed against Sokka’s chest again. Groaning softly, Yue looked up at Sokka, maybe he was right.

“What about my people? I need to know they’re safe.”

Yue laughed and shook her head, Sokka was funny, this was all so thrilling she couldn’t believe she did this! Father would be furious, but Yue found she didn’t particularly care what her Father thought at this moment.

“I don’t think that’s true, Sokka, but I guess we’ll see won’t we? When we get there.”

Sneaking out of the palace was easier than Yue had anticipated, of course, it stood to reason that the reason it was so easy was because Yue had always been such a good and obedient daughter there was no reason for extra guards.

She had left a note for her father and her betrothal necklace for Hahn before going to meet the group at the Oasis. Upon seeing the group waiting for her, she started to run towards them. She had nothing but the clothes on her back and a fire of hope in her heart.

❝ Yue — !❞

He waved frenetically as he saw her, glad she had made up her mind. Jumping off Appa, Sokka ran to her embrace and to assist her on her way up, smiling bright like a man who had won the lottery. Making his way to their seats, he sat right next to her, attempting to place his hand over he shoulders.

❝ Appa, Ip ip !❞ The bison set flight at last, headed to the Earth Kingdom. Sokka had never been there himself, but was excited to get to know it alongside his dearest.

❝ Uh, so, Earth Kingdom… I heard they don’t like to shower !❞

Yue smiled a small tentative smile, Sokka was so sweet, and so full of hope. Could they really forget about the world and just be themselves?

“The world has had it’s eyes on me since I was a child,” she reminded him softly.

“I don’t think that will change just because we will it so.”
