"Little House"
Taking a photo and digitally composing it into a digital painting is rough work. You have to make sure your paintbrush fits the pattern that is originally displayed through the photo and that everything flows together. Honestly my experience with this type of digital painting didn't work out as well as I wanted to. I really struggled with panting and making sure I didn't paint over other objects. I used different paint brushes on all the objects so it was hard keeping them all in line. Otherwise this was a really neat experience that takes time and detail. I tried to pick a less detailed photo so I could exaggerate the objects that I did have oriented time with.

"Black Mystery"
Studio portraits put your mind in a box, you have to think outside the box to create something interesting. Although a scarf is something classic used in any portrait photo there are reasons why I chose to put a scarf around Joanna's face. I chose to put a scarf around her face because she kept looking away from the camera even though I kept telling her to look at me. So when I added the scarf in, it added a little bit of mystery since I have no idea what was going through her mind that day. I know she was having a bad day because the shoot was cut short and I had to finish another day. This photo just shows a girl lost in her thoughts so I found it appropriate to make it in black and white because the dark contrast also elevates the mystery.

"Corrupted Soul"
Taking self-portraits especially when the only thing you're used to is taking photos of someone else can be nerve wracking. The process of taking a self-portrait, especially for me makes me uncomfortable and nervous. It's not that I'm uncomfortable with myself, I just become uncomfortable in front of the camera. I believe lots of people struggle with being in front of the camera. Although, it was stressful I still found a photo that represented me in some way. I chose this photo because of the way my hand is covering my other eye. I believe the eyes are the door to the soul and since I was uncomfortable during the shoot I didn't want to show my soul to the camera. On top of this my photography teacher Ms. Lynn is considering to put the photo in the art show, let's just say that shook me hard. I do not know how I feel about putting myself in front of others to view.

"Vigilantes"
Recreating photos is a lot harder then imagined. Even when I tried my hardest to make sure I was emulating the photograph to the best of my abilities, there are still obvious mistakes. When comparing the Annie Leibovitz photo on the left and my emulation to the right it's clear that they don't match exactly. When I originally emulated this photo I was looking at Leibovitz cropped photo, so I believed that they're legs were cropped out. When I was shooting the bodies cropped, it didn't surprise me. I looked at other photos Leibovitz shot and she's not afraid to cut off body parts. When I finished shooting and re-googled the photo I noticed that this was actually a full body shot. Although this isn't a perfect emulation because of the fact it's not a full body I still believe the placement of the people gives it a strong enough emulation to share.

"Motorcycle Jacket"
The pressure rises when you've chosen a famous photographer and you must emulate their work. For a Digital Photography assignment that's exactly what we were asked to do: pick a famous photographer, pick a photo, recreate it. I decided to recreate photos done by Annie Leibovitz. On the left is a picture Leibovitz took of Leonardo Dicaprio. On the right is what I came up with when I recreated the photo. When comparing the two there are obvious differences: their jackets are different colors, the background color varies, and the stools don't match in color. Those are slight but obvious differences. The bigger difference varies in the fact that I shot the photo from below and clearly Lebovitz shot it directly from Dicaprio's height. Also Dicaprio's chin is titled towards the bottom while in my photo the guy has his chin a little too high up. In general the photos have a little resemblance but with little fixes the my photo could become a stronger emulation.

"Open Rose"
A photographer has free range when working with a composite piece. You take some of your favorite photos and create a beautiful masterpiece. All your hard work in one photograph. When creating the composite a lot of different techniques go into putting together three to five photos together. Every piece of my photo for example comes from a different photographs (the background, the trees, the flower, and the clouds). Originally for this photo I wanted to put four different roses in the sky on top of each other with different opacities. I photographed a rose first being closed and then I slowly opened it up more and photographed it that way. I wanted the flower transforming in the sky, but I had a hard time doing it so I settled with a pink rose completely open. After I chose this I named this Open Rose because it's an open rose for the sky and the people to see. The cloud in the background was suggested by my photography teacher Ms. Lynn, she believed it would make the flower part of the photo instead of stand out against everything. Seeing how the cloud puts everything together made that decision a good choice.

"Tree Isolation"
Being stuck in the middle of nowhere makes anyone feel isolated. When I picture being isolated I picture being lost in the forest surrounded by multiple trees. When comparing the colored photo and the black and white photo I believe the black and white is stronger then the colored. The black and white photo again creates a dark atmosphere which makes it more believable to be nowhere. On the other hand the colored photo creates a beautiful yellow/orange color on the skyline. Also the water all iced over looks a lot better in color. I believe it's because you can see all the different shades of white/blue color. This photo was taken at a forest preserve near my house. To create the feeling of nowhere you really don't have to venture too far out. Are there any places you go could go around your house to create the feeling of nowhere?

Nowhere is a place where you can feel isolated from the world.  Comparing the vintage to the original, the colored photo is the stronger one. The color of the sky and the sun beaming from the horizon create colors which make the picture look the way it does. The vintage hides those colors and makes everything blend. Although the vintage photo better appeals to the idea of nowhere. Dark colors are more related with being lost which makes the second photo more appealing to the assignment criteria. I made the photo "look" like it's nowhere but honestly this photo was taken around many houses and I just took the photo from an angle that didn't show the houses on the sides. I believe you can feel nowhere where every you are. If there are no people around and your in a field for example, around houses your still isolated. If you got a chance to create the feeling of nowhere where would you go?

"Masquerade Runaway"
Inspiration doesn't always have to come from something seen, sometimes inspiration comes from within. For the last cut and paste I created for the Digital Photo 2 assignment I decided to create something from within. I took a couple minutes and stared at the photo in front of me. I thought to myself how can I make her look more magical? I decided that I would give her wings because she's leaning which makes her look like she's about to jump/take off. Another part that really reassured me that I should add wings is her outstretched hand that gave me the feeling that she wants to fly. After adding her wings I came to the conclusion that I would switch her mask to color. I made this decision because the colors are both blue and they draw the focus not only to the wings but also to her face. If you had the chance to do a cut and paste would you seek inspiration or create something from within?

"Split Within"
Doing cut and paste enables the photographer to create something beautiful with photos they have captured already. While creating my cut and paste in Digital Photo 2 I found inspiration from the photo on the left. The photo on the right is what I created based on the photos I had already captured. I decided while I was doing my cut and paste that I would not refine-edge my person because I liked the contrast the bricks create with the tree. I also decided that with my photo I would choose a more sophisticated photo and have the jacket match the background colors (black and white). Another subtle difference is the spacing between the strips of the person. I decided to do them much closer since the background I chose was a little more detailed. I felt like that would draw away from the girl. In general I believe the photo on the left does a better job of arranging the cut pieces of the girl. If you got the chance to do a cut and paste where would you draw your inspiration from?

"Vein"
A cut and paste project gives free range on what masterpiece you want to create out of multiple photos you already have. My assignment for Digital Photo asked to create a cut and paste photo using an inspirational photo. For an inspirational photo (on the left) I chose a girl with half her face as a tree and then compared it to the one I created (on the right). When recreating the photo I used the same basics with having the tree on the girls face. The inspirational photo has a solid tree on the girls face and it's only part of half her face. With the photo I created I made the tree transparent and tried to make it look more like it was painted on. I did this because I wanted to create a more natural look to the photo. When recreating the photo I also made sure to include her neck and not her shoulders. I did this because I figured if the veins of the tree followed only on her skin then they wouldn't be visible through her shirt. Overall comparing the photos together I prefer the original photo. The original photo looks more mystical and makes you question why the photographer chose only to fill half her face. If you had a chance to create a cut and paste, what type of photos would you use? What would you create? Where would you look for inspiration?

"Street Walk"
Taking two photos and joining them together is a unique experience. This gives any photographer a chance to take two of their favorite photos and make something creative and interesting. In my Digital One Photography class we were assigned to take one portrait photo and one scenic photo and composite them together. I chose to put these two together because I believed Joanna (the girl in the photo) had a "street style" to her clothes and the art on the walls found in Pilsen fit her attire. I believe this photo can be believable because compared to the wall she looks like the right size. Also her clothing isn't out of place and the two photos conjoined together share the same light exposure. If you had a chance to put two photos together which ones would you choose? Would you choose to make it look believable?

"Cave Within"
When I was a child I played in this very tunnel photographed. My mother never approved this type of play, but I believe she would approve the creativity taken into consideration with this light photo. This photo was taken to illustrate the beauty light has on a place like this. The light has given the tunnel the ability to look completely dark and the branches to stand out. This happens because the light is coming from the background. If the light was behind the camera the tunnel wouldn't appear as dark. Light direction changes everything. If you had the ability to photograph a childhood memory where would you go? How would you use the light to make the place stand out?

"Fall Down"
Light is an important part to any photo, without it there would be no photo to begin with. In my Digital Photography class Ms. Lynn gave us an assignment where we had to capture light in different elements. I chose to photograph light that can be observed in the forest. This photo has light coming from the sky which allows the trees to be reflected in the water. The branches that create a shadow over the water create a reflection of themselves. This reflection and the ice yield the reflection which gives the water depth even though its a little stream. If you were given the choice to capture light in its purest form where would you go? What type of light would you capture?

"Journey"
Pilsen, a town filled with art at every street corner and a gorgeous wall dipped in paint from head to toe. While walking around Pilsen with my Digital one photography class, we were asked to photograph things that interested us. I chose to photograph the sidewalk and the wall tracing all the way back into the distance. I decided to take the photo at this angel because I felt like it gave someone looking at this a perspective of how much art this little town had. There was literally a long wall with art on it. All colors, all different artists and all equally beautiful. At the moment in time this displayed me walking down that sidewalk and looking at this very long wall and being amazed at how much work must have gone into it.

"Over Arching"
On a gray, sunless day my digital photography class and I were taken on a field trip to Pilsen and we were all given a chance to walk around and take photos of art that interested us. While making my way around Pilsen I took photos of art that caught my eye. When I first took these two photos I never thought that I'd set them up to each other. As seen above I did set them up to each other. I decided to set them up because I liked how the two meet in the middle, the fence and the blank concrete on top of both photos meet at the middle, top intersection of the two photos. Another factor that I believed set them to each other is the fact that both the photos are on concrete wall in general and they share the same color pallet. They share the colors: red, white, green, blue, and black. Having this color pallet allows the two photos to stand next to each other and creates another similarity between the two. If you got a chance to put two photos next to each other, which photos would you choose? Where would you go?
