before directors are allowed to put in the request for cgi they should be required to answer: โ€œwould lord of the rings have been able to do this by sitting somebody a little further back, using an apple box, or putting out a casting call for a really big pig?โ€ and if the answer is yes they should consider finding a really big pig.

hi! when you say that morality is determined by God, how do you justify (or refute) the more controversial + weird parts of the Bible such as beating of slaves (Exodus 21:20-21) and children (Proverbs 13:24) and the forbidding of eating shellfish (Leviticus 11:10-12), for example?
There is no weird parts of the Bible and by the very question youve asked its obvious you havent read it. You can pick it apart and take things out of their context both within the text itself and its historical context all you want, thats how you get to questions like this.
So the answer is to read the Bible.
But I'll answer your specific quotes too, in an effort to show good faith so that you read the Bible yourself.
Exodus 21:20: Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21ย but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.
Slavery was common at the time all over the world. God took people who owned slaves and gave them basic rules they ought to keep with them. These rules were better than the slaves had before God's rule; Exodus is literally about the abolition of slavery, and God is trying to inch the Israelites towards this. He frees them from slavery first, and this is their first step to doing the same.
2) Proverbs 13:24: Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him. Does not mention slavery. Read: https://www.bibleref.com/Proverbs/13/Proverbs-13-24.html
3) Leviticus 11:10-12:
Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary
What animals were clean and unclean. - These laws seem to have been intended, 1. As a test of the people's obedience, as Adam was forbidden to eat of the tree of knowledge; and to teach them self-denial, and the government of their appetites. 2. To keep the Israelites distinct from other nations. Many also of these forbidden animals were objects of superstition and idolatry to the heathen. 3. The people were taught to make distinctions between the holy and unholy in their companions and intimate connexions. 4. The law forbad, not only the eating of the unclean beasts, but the touching of them. Those who would be kept from any sin, must be careful to avoid all temptations to it, or coming near it. The exceptions are very minute, and all were designed to call forth constant care and exactness in their obedience; and to teach us to obey. Whilst we enjoy our Christian liberty, and are free from such burdensome observances, we must be careful not to abuse our liberty. For the Lord hath redeemed and called his people, that they may be holy, even as he is holy. We must come out, and be separate from the world; we must leave the company of the ungodly, and all needless connexions with those who are dead in sin; we must be zealous of good works devoted followers of God, and companions of his people.
I hope you asked in good faith. Read the Bible. Get a KJV Orthodox study Bible. I have one but not in KJV, but it still has Church fathers' explanations and discussions on every verse which has helped me contextualize and understand the Bible.
Jesus said that those who wish to believe will read into the Bible themselves. They will study past the words on the page to truly understand them - while others will not, and be without true understanding.
I hope you can find the strength to read the Bible yourself. Let me know if you want a PDF of a good study Bible.
