I’m chubby (I got a belly), have a big cheeks (look like a little kid), and have difficult, but beautiful 4c hair. I love to eat, but don’t care much for exercise (unless you make it fun I guess), have legs that grow hair like a werewolf (seriously, I could shave in the morning and in the evening it would start to come back) and I don’t have much of a butt.

BUT.

I FREAKING LOVE MYSELF!

However, I do sometimes think I may not find anyone to be with, but…I’m okay with that.

I am currently talking to this guy who has real potential, but he’s one of those (now common) people who seems to LOVE physical activity and staying in-shape (fitness-head) Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but generally what I find alot with people like that is that they tend to be very fatphobic AND VERY pushy about getting others to excercise, as if they can’t bear the thought of being with someone who is not toned…defined…or who is just simply not fat.

I just hope he isn’t like that. I like him.

As females, we care a lot about our appearance. We try to keep up appearances by changing our hair, the things we wear, and getting our nails and toes done! Fake nails in my opinion, are a protective type of nail style. Not only is it protective but its cute!!! See here’s where it all started. In 1954 a dentist named Fred Slack broke his nail on the job and used dental acrylic from the office to help recreate a nail. From this, he and his brother created a business and called it Patti Nails.

As stated in a previous post, appearances for women is very important. Even the smallest details matter. Every stray hair, mismatched sock, and nail color matters. When getting your nails done they must have the perfect color to shape ratio. Yes, there are rules. Although they vary from person to person to person because different people like different things, there are standards that most people follow.

The most protective nail style is gel. Gel nails for years have been done incorrectly. Gel nails are indeed supposed to be gel acrylic NOT powder based. The powder is regular acrylic and although it keeps your nail from breaking due to everyday activities, it is more likely to break than gel.

When In the process of getting your nails done you will notice that the nail technician puts a coat of clear liquid on the nail. This helps protect the nail. It keeps the nail from growing mold and other fungi under the fake. It also helps the acrylic stay attached to your nail.

Many people have said that fake nails are bad for your real nail and fake nails are a waste of money because all they do is break. If you take care of your nails properly and treat them with care they should not break. Ive seen a lot of people who have had fake nails end up with no nail at all because they were not treating there nails well but a broken nail does not ruin your nail but it may make your hand go from royalty to peasantry.

You Might even make you think your hand is disgusting but this is all fine because we have fill- ins!!!! Some women who opt for nail extensions want a more natural look. Between all the materials used for artificial nail enhancements, acrylics and gel nails provide the most natural look. Additionally, they can be filled in as the natural nail grows without looking artificial.

A new trend that people have started is they do their own gel and acrylic nails. Doing your own nails can be less costly and could be a better choice if you are picky about your nails. Also, it makes for great business plus if the quality of your nail production is great you will have good business and make a LOT of money. One thing that new businesses forget about when it comes to doing fake nails is that it is a very tedious task and if done poorly you may lose out on customers, tips, and even payment for a job you’ve already done !!

When talking about nails you’re unleashing a child-like world of colors and shapes but for women. As I stated before, there are soooooo many different shapes of nail and I previously posted a picture of a couple. Some of them look pretty outrages I must agree, but as we know not everyone has the same likes and dislikes. The most popular nail shape today are square. Square nails will NEVER go out of style. They’ve been here since the very beginning and have stayed strong for decades. Also, they are the easiest to do because the base nail is square. The second most popular is coffin shape. Coffin nails aren’t nearly as old a square but they are currently hand and hand on the nail scale. As a nail connoisseur, I believe you can go wrong with either. Square is a classic and they look great regardless. Coffin, on the other hand, is a more classy look. Coffin is the type of shape you should get before an important dinner or a big event of some sort. (Coffin on top, square on bottom)

 Now that I’ve broken down the shapes a little further, let’s talk about the types of colors and which are in now! Choosing a color is probably the hardest part of getting your nails done. There’s so many colors from reds to pinks to blues, purples, greens, yellows ohhh myy!! You also got the sparkly and the metallic and iridescent. The list goes on and on. The most popular right now is sparkly nails. You can’t go wrong with sparkles! There’s even color variation in sparkles. You have pink, blue, purple, gold, silver, white and so on. During the warmer months of the year we tend to wear brighter colors and that goes for nail polish too. It is more common to see bright pinks and yellows during July than it is to see a brown or black.

With all this being said, there are still some people who believe that nails are damaging, pointless, and ugly. If you know how to take care of your nails then they should not damage your nail bed. It is not that hard to care for nail extensions. Also, men, who know nothing about nails, prefer a woman to have her hands groomed so for women to shame them is actually hurting they’re relationships with men. So are fake nails really that pointless and ugly?

For many years women have been getting enhancers from hair to breasts to nails. Today I want to talk about nails enhancers. Yes, fake nails. There’s so many different nail enhancers. You could have press-ons, acrylic, gel, acrylic overlay, gel overlay, and more. Many people have different opinions on the usage of fake nails. Some say that fake nails can permanently damage your nail bed so why do women still get them?

 The most common false nails are acrylic and gel. Acrylic is a powder base. After drilling your real nail to create a smooth canvas they use the powder base mixed with acetone to make the fake nail. With gel, it is a little different. Some gel nails are a gel base and others are a powder base with gel nail polish. Gel nails also last longer but tend to be more expensive. It’s also said to be the most protective style of nail extensions.

 Acrylic nails in my opinion are the best things ever created! Gel nails are nice in the sense of immediately dry nails and you know safe nail beds but changing the color is much more work and quite frankly more money. In contrast to being able to change your nail color at any time for free with acrylic nails!

Now that we’ve went over some of the technicalities of nail extensions, its time for some fun stuff. Nails come in all different shapes and sizes. There’s coffin or ballerina, stiletto, and ya knowww I’m just going to upload a picture

Pair one of these shapes with the perfect color and your hand looks like the hand of royalty! I imagine that doing nails is a hard job because if the customer doesn’t like the outcome, they’ll either not pay for it or never come back to you again. For little businesses, losing one customer can hurt the business a lot.

Hidden Figures - Hidden Gold

The movie ' Hidden Figures ' was pure gold. Not to mention that the movie has a duel meaning🤔… but we’ll talk about that later. The movie introduces things in African American history that many people didn't know. It gives watchers an inside look on what really lyes beneath the history of space travel. Black Women. Not to mention, the actresses they had play the roles of these 3 iconic women of Americas past are AMAZING at everything they do. Best choice ever! I rate this movie a ten out of ten and it most certainly she be seen by everyone of all ages!

Btw if you haven’t seen ‘ Hidden Figures ‘ I need you to wake up because this movie will have you SHOOK!! I mean yea, black People are behind a lot of history but who knew that the smartest people behind space travel were women not even mentioning that they were BLACK women!!! Double iconic!! While watching this movie it is prudent to know that white supremacy was still very much so valid in the eyes of upperclassmen so for a black person to work hand in hand with white people was very… very rare. Less rare than usual……. But still very rare. Even in the movie when actress Taraji P. Henson was working in the office with all of the other aerospace engineers, it was obvious that they didn’t want her there. They had a separate coffee pot for her, she had to walk ALL the way to another building jus to use the bathroom and they would black out all the work that was done that they didn’t want her to see!! Tragic I know. I feel as though within the circumstances, they began to take envy of her because she was black and a female who was better at math than all of them. Now obviously this review was based off my views on the movie but I cant be the only one who sees that the men in the movie were intimidated by how knowledgeable she was and they envied her ability to calculate everything that was thrown at her.

On to the actresses, Katherine Johnson, the main character is played by Taraji P. Henson. Taraji has played in many films. So of her most well known movies include Baby Boy, Hustle and Flow, and the hit tv series, Empire. She has been in PLENTY of movies and her acting has improved so much since her first debut. So much so that they asked her to play a historical icon. Dorothy Vaughn played by Octavia Spencer was a more subtle role. Her turmoils in the movie were not as great and Katherine’s but they were still hardships. You may recognize Octavia from the award winning movie ‘ The Help .‘ The help was a movie based on African American women who were servants for white families after segregation. That movie also demonstrates that black women were not treated as equally as white women and for sure not white men. Octavia Spencer is an amazing actress who has showed her skills in multiple films and playing women of history is her calling. The last but not least main character, Mary Jackson played by Janelle Monáe. I honestly have only known Janelle to be a musician. The role she played in this movie was astounding. Out of the three of these ladies Janelle played the sassy friend who always spoke her mind but knew her limits. None of these women were scared to hold anything back from their knowledge to their feelings. These women were outstanding.

Let’s talk about the title of this move gold pixelation. The title of the movie is of course Hidden Figures. After watching the movie I can see that it refers to the calculations that Katherine was dealing with and how they had to solve the mystery of rocket takeoff. But when you really think about the title, wouldn’t you say that they are talking about the people BEHIND the screen? Clarify? Gladly. The title one again is Hidden Figures. HIDDEN referring to the women behind the math. The ones that were either forgotten or just not mentioned. FIGURES refers to the actual people not so much what they’ve done but who and what they are. They ARE Strong, Fearless, Intelligent Women. BLACK women. Now, don’t get me wrong. There were plenty of women who helped create this historical experience. And if you’ve seen the movie you know there’s a whole room full to be exact. But all in all this movie was 100% ICONIC.
