Actually no I can accept the deepground slop because the most unrealistic thing in this game is that Lucrecia picked greasy human experimentation enjoyer Hojo over the man so hot his second name is Valentine.

Damn that was uh not very good.

The boss fights were very very bad, in most of them you just stand still and tap RT, the worst one was probably omega cocoon but the last nero one was awful. I'm not sure why we needed a jump button when they could have just mapped an item there or something, also the single cait sith mission was a weird addition. It felt like they had a lot of teams all adding their own thing to the game then thinking about how it would actually work when it was too much of a time sink to take out.

The story was eh, I could buy into most of it but I really disliked Shelke and Shalua (don't even get me started on Shalua's design like I'm not really bothered by fanservice designs but that was just ugly fanservice, never let Nomura smoke the Shalua blunt again, tbh the deepground tron ripoff designs were pretty bad too idk why he did that). The most interesting part of the stuff about Vincent's backstory but you get most of that in OG 7 anyway soooooo. Even though stuff happened it really felt like it didn't because it didn't really feel like Vincent got a character arc like the story ends in the same place it started with nothing different. Like Vincent once and for all kills Hojo and nothing comes of that?? Also how is Vincent alive without Chaos? Like my guy was a actual rotting corpse before Lucresia sticks Chaos in him so what he got better?

Seeing the rest of the cast was fun and the en dub was decent, I really didn't like Hojo's voice but that was definitely a problem with the director telling the guy to do a squeaky evil scientist voice and it coming out of Weiss was a bad call from the director.

[Edit] I forgot to mention the Gackt jumpscare, get that man out of here.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this but I'm pretty sure the name of Zack and Cloud's synergy skill is a reference to the vocal version of price of freedom (Price of Freedom -I Want To See You Smile-)

This has been driving me insane because no lists of all the synergy skills include this one (but they do include double helix which is also a one time one sooooo??) so I had to boot up the game to check that I didn't just invent this.
