why do laws even exist if we’re just gonna let white people break them

Take note of how little your president had to say about Ferguson. Remember that the next time you want to make gifsets of how funny, cool, and clever he is. Remember that he’s just a Black sheet over a White system.

My heart aches for the black grandmothers and grandfathers who marched with Martin Luther King as children, and are marching again as elders, both times for the same reason

It is its own weird brand of dystopia that a whitewashed movie celebrating revolt against a police state will earn a bajillion dollars in the same week that people protesting excessive authoritarian violence and injustice are forcibly suppressed and given racist treatment by a largely unsympathetic public

It's unfair that men are ridiculed in this way.  But part of the reason this happens is because women are misconcieved as vulnerable, weak, and defenseless.  Because of this stereotype, men are assholes if they hit a "poor, defensless creature" and are wusses if they let a "poor, defensless creature" hit them.  I'm not saying that it's acceptable for men to hit women,  I'm saying that sexism effects everybody.  Sexism towards one gender cause sexism towards the other.  This stereotyping allows women who sexually assault men get away with their sins.

It’s strange how a website full of teenagers understand how to treat people equally better than a room full of politicians. The adults tell us to grow up yet they behave as if they were still living in the 1960s.

Idol: *takes time out of their booked schedule of meeting fans, practicing dances until they almost collapse, driving from place to place, etc, to study english for no other reason than to cater to english speaking fans*

International fan: “lol he said ‘her’ funny”

Yesterday a 17 year female, who attends Lancaster High School in California, was beaten by a football player, on school grounds, for being gay. After receiving over a dozen blows to her jaw, head, eye and head, all he received was a 5 day suspension by the Lancaster School District. She suffered from a fractured jaw and multiple concussions to the head and the Deputy Sheriff advised her mother to re-think her wanting to file charges against the football player because her daughter pushed him back. The school ended up documenting "assault" charges on the victims school file, NOT the football players!!! To make things worse, the Deputy Sheriff warned the victim, by saying, "Just so you know, if you file charges against him, I'm taking his side." We're attempting to raise awareness and bring this story to light because Lancaster High School is trying to sweep this "Hate Crime" under the rug!
