Just finished Mysterious Lotus Casebook and I totally get why it was one of the best costume cdramas of 2023. The fight scenes were fun, the bad guys each took their major character flaw/pet peeve/obsession and made it their whole personality and reason for being, the trio of main characters were delightful (I'm kind of in love with all 3 of them for all different reasons), and they ran around jianghu solving crimes. It was a murder cozy! Li Lianhua is an unholy combo of Columbo, Jessica Fletcher, Poirot, and the con artist from White Collar.
It was funny, it was heartbreaking, it gave me brainrot. The costumes were gorgeous and the hair flipping was so perfect I defy you to find a teenage girl who could do it better than Fang Duobing.
It was Word of Honor but emotionally ouchier in the best way. Must watch again. Excellent. 11/10.

Ah so his period of Extremely Unfortunate Styling started in his very early days. I didn't realize since it wasn't evident in the bathtub pictures. Grateful to the stylist who eventually saved him from hair that did him no favors and other unflattering nonsense. It looks like he's aging backwards.
