A critique of a narrative story.
1. Introduction - The story is called "The horror stories from the Japanese Occupation are worse than you thought." This story unfold the horrifying truth on how Japanese soldiers in WW2 disgustingly abuse the filipinos especially our women and children. That these should not be forgotten for the sake of those victims who are robbed of their basic human rights.
2. Summary - The author's purpose on writing this horrific story is to inform the readers how the Japanese soldiers that occupy our land during WW2 showed us how far humans can go for power and lust. A Japanese veteran told us in the story that he witnessed how his comrades kills innocent people, like just "killing insects". 400 filipinos are thrown to their deaths in Lipa city, while 2000 of filipino people are massacred in Calamba, Laguna. Japanese soldiers killed old men using rope by strangling them because they said it is cheap than using their riffles and bullets. These horrendous crimes doesn't stop their. Rape and even attempted rape of a dead woman body are reported. There are also reports of a pregnant woman and a 11-month-old child being killed merciless.
3. Evaluation - The author's dedication on unrevealing the frightful crimes of those Japanese soldier who offend our filipino people should not be forgotten. These are the evidences that should never be thrown away. That the poeple who suffered and end up being dead should at least attain justice. The story also reflect in the present on how our culture is slowly being alter by foreign countries like Japan and some Japanese citizen are extending their racism towards us filipinos. The youngs who are obsessed of the japanese culture that they tend to forget these histories and their own culture should be reminded of these things.
4. Conclusion - The story is a heart-breaking truth for a filipino like me. That innocent people such as children has to suffer from things like that because of the people who are thirsty of power and lust. The author is right by saying the youth should look back on these horrifying history of our land. Overall the story is something very informative, brutal and knowledgeable. Giving readers a broader understanding on what really happen that time. Providing empathy for the victims of Japanese who occupy the Philippines.
