Bleach AU where Ichigo becomes a captain after his death
Ichigo hates all the paperwork the job comes with. Sure being able to help change the system from the inside is nice but ugh, he’s missing having free time. So he has a little advantage he uses to help get his work done.
Manifesting his zanpakto (of course he would learn how, he would actually have TIME to learn it now instead of being a teenager speed-running hundreds of years of training for an approaching war), oh Old Man Zangetsu won’t you please help with the paperwork. Bribes of food and a nice relaxing nature walk later certainly don’t hurt his case (Old Man likes his trees, who wouldn’t if they were stuck in an urban city nightmare 24/7). What kind of responsible zanpakto spirit would he be to deny Ichigo this break from paperwork hell. Of course Shiro wanted out as well so they leave him and Kenpatchi to have a “spar” aka “Fight-To-The-Damn-Near-Death”.
Ichigo leaves the office to do something to stretch his legs, like going home to the house he bought in the Sereitei to spend time with his family. The Old Man is now alone at Ichigo’s desk doing the paperwork, probably contemplating his afterlife choices. A seated officer knocks on the door to bring even more paperwork. A voice that definitely isn’t Captain Kurosaki says to enter and this poor seated officer has a near heart attack. Ywach is supposed to be dead, why is he in Captian Kurosaki’s office!?
Flashsteping away like their life depends on it, the seated office sends a distress Hell Butterfly to the Head Captain. Kyoraku is confused but more alarmed than anything and calls for all his Captains to deal with the threat. Ichigo, being the farthest away at this point in time is the last to get the Hell Butterfly. In the meantime, Old Man Zangetsu is surrounded by 10 captains threatening him. Rukia and Renji however can immediately tell it’s Zangetsu. (Byakuya thinks the same but only caught glimpses of the zanpakto while training in the Soul King’s Palace, Rukia and Renji are close enough with Ichigo that they can tell)
Ichigo finally gets the Hell Butterfly and is back in his office in an instant. He sees Zangetsu with 8 sworrds towards his throat with Rukia and Renji saying “We know it’s a REALLY WEIRD coincidence but that’s not Ywach it’s Zangetsu”. He knows that Quincy Zangetsu looks like his ancestor but seriously guys Ywach is dead this time, for real. Most breathe a sigh of relief and lower their weapons. Kyoraku “advises” that Ichigo do his own paperwork next time and not leave it to the clearly more responsible part of his soul.
Ichigo never stops delegating paperwork to his spirit but they both make sure the office door stays locked from now on.

Bleach X Tokyo Ghoul au
Now before I post about the soul reapers, hollows, visoreds, etc it’s important to understand how this au works
World Building I Guess?
Honestly most things are the same in the living world. Ghouls eat humans, humans learn to fight back, etc etc.
One thing that has happened is that ghouls happen to have a much higher rate of being able to see/ sense spirits. Since living souls gain spiritual energy faster when they are in danger, ghouls tend to have a higher population that is spiritually aware when compared to humans
CCG investigators of rank 3 or above almost always can see spirits. The amount of life threatening situations they have been in is probably higher than some of the ghouls. The Doves normally don’t see spirits where they live so most of the time no one mentions/ acknowledges it.
Now say if certain powerful Doves (such as Arima, the cool younger Mado, Suzuya and/or Amon) get sent to a place with high spiritual activity like Karakura? Well that seems like a lot of potential shenanigans and mental breakdowns to me
Karakura only has the ghouls from our main cast as Isshin has kicked out any others that he doesn’t trust with his life. Any ghouls he sees hanging around the town for more then a week, he tells to fuck off somewhere. Hopefully all the ghouls he kicked out found better homes
Due to Urahara’s intervention, the CCG typically avoids Karakura. Computerized evidence just straight up gets deleted way too often for it to be a glitch in the system. The CCG has bigger priorities than the town at the moment. However they will get around to it (around which arc I’m not sure but before/ during the fullbringer arc sounds convenient)
Fun Fact: Most human murders are never caught. Most killings are attributed to ghouls and suspects are typically cleared of suspicion once they prove they are not a ghoul. Only those with obvious motive are ever investigated and convicted.
Now you may be wondering where ghouls originated from here. Well in this au ghouls are actually all the descendants of quinces. Yhwach (I’ll never know how to pronounce this), as the son of the soul king (aka quincy Jesus) and is all around a “better human”. Through sharing his soul and teaching quinces to use their powers, he was able to create the ghoul race. That doesn’t mean all ghouls are quinces. All quinces are ghouls but not all ghouls are quinces. Quinces are ghouls who still have the spiritual abilities. Normal ghouls are those who descend from quinces but have no Quincy abilities themselves. Normal ghouls lose the Quincy bloodline when the grand parents or parents don’t activate Quincy abilities. Normal ghouls make up for this lack of spiritual Quincy power with a slightly more powerful kagune.
As souls, ghouls are no longer required to eat humans/ non ghouls to survive. Eating spiritual energy can sustain them. The only time a soul reaper or hollow ghoul has to eat non-ghoul flesh is if they use their kagune or need to regenerate. The RC cells can not be regenerated from just consuming spiritual energy from normal food. Ghouls still can’t make their own RC cells even in death.
Most ghouls end up in hell or Hueco Mundo, due to the actions they were forced to take when alive. Any race that is also a ghoul will be stronger than the average of that race. For example, a ghoul soul reaper should be stronger than an average non- ghoul soul reaper. Same applies to hollows. Ghoul hollows need to eat more to reach the next evolution stage.
Ghouls in Soul Society aren’t treated that well. Soul reaper ghouls are only able to join squads 3, 7, 10, 11 or 12 after graduating the academy. Gin just doesn’t care about what the other captains think. Komamura doesn’t like the discrimination. Hitsuguya knows they aren’t all bad from captain Shiba. Kenpatchi could not give a single fuck as long as they can fight. Kurotsuchi could always use more lab assistants/ test subjects.
Squad 4 runs a blood bank to feed ghouls that need RC cells. Each ghoul needs ID and the amount of blood they get is tracked. If they try to draw “too much” without a reason (such as needing it for a mission) they get denied and reported to their squad for “suspicious activity”. Leaving said blood bank is also a great way for soul reaper ghouls to get jumped.
Hueco Mundo is exactly the same. The strong eat the weak and all that. Honestly with the addition of ghouls, the soul reapers and living characters understand the hollows just a bit better.

More Bleach x Tokyo Ghoul au
More Characters
Orihime
Orihime is a natural one-eyed ghoul with a Rinkaku kagune. Orihime in cannon has basically one offensive ability that is broken for a whole arc and then rarely used for the sake of defense and healing. Personally, I thought she could have done more so I’m fixing this myself. Her kagune has 2 tentacles that she can use for offensive. Her Shun Shun Rika will be for the healing and shield, the attacking fairy will not be used often unless she needs a long ranged attack.
The reason for her being a one-eyed ghoul is so she could still eat human food. Her weird food combinations are a part of her character and I thought it wouldn’t be right to take that from her. It also doesn’t hurt that Orihime constantly eating food is a good cover for when the ghoul group hangs out at school. The fact that her brother was a human makes for an interesting dynamic as well.
As a half ghoul she can eat human food as much as she wants. The genetic combination may have messed with her taste buds, resulting in the strange food. She can taste it but the human food gives her almost no nutritional value. She has to eat like a ghoul in order to sustain herself.
Her main ability is in her regeneration, which is high even for a Rinkaku. Even though her kagune is fairly weak and easy to cut off, they grow back very quickly. This also applies to any injuries she takes; for example getting completely flattened by a speeding car will only take her a few hours to completely regenerate from; as long as she’s feed.
Her father was a ghoul and her mother was a human. Her mother left Sora’s father, who was a human, for Orihime’s father, a ghoul. Sora and Orihime were half siblings. After her father was killed by the CCG and her mother became an alcoholic, Sora took her and moved to Karakura. Sora at first feed her dead homeless people who he would find until he was approached by Isshin and the other adult ghouls in town who took that responsibility out of his hands. After Sora’s death, Orihime became very close to the Ishida and Kurosaki families. The fathers would make sure she was feed and the kids would make sure she wasn’t lonely.
Uryu
Uryu is an Ukaku type ghoul. His kagune is used in tandem with his quincy arrows for more projectiles and the speed boast is helpful for him to avoid attacks. Since Ryuken is still unhelpful with training him as a quincy, he at least trains Uryu as a ghoul. They still have a horrible relationship but at least they see each other now.
Since all the ghouls in town are relatively close, he is well aware that he and the Kurosaki kids are basically cousins. (Are they really though cause the relations between Masaki and Ryuken have always confused me? No matter, cousins is close enough) Mostly Yuzu (Karin absolutely does not admit to helping), convinces Uryu to visit the Kurosaki household every once in a while. Yuzu calls him cousin, Karin does when she’s happy and Ichigo only calls him that when he needs Uryu to listen to him. Isshin tries to make Uryu call him Uncle but Uryu has picked up some things from Ichigo and smacks him around when he’s being annoying; he will call Isshin uncle on special occasions though.
Due to how tight knit the ghouls in town are, Uryu is friends with the Karakura teens long before the story begins. Him, Ichigo, Orihime, and Chad sit on the roof during lunch at school. He tolerates the presence of Tatsuki and Keigo but finds them both annoying.
Once Uryu learns how to sew, he becomes the mask maker in town. Considering the small ghoul population he doesn’t have to make or fix masks that often but he does get annoyed when someone tells him they broke the mask. (All the individual masks will be another post, mainly because some still haven’t been decided)
Ryuken
Like his son, Ryuken is an Ukaku type ghoul. He still despises being “the Last Quincy” but accepts that he is a ghoul. He makes sure Uryu is prepared for the hostile world against ghouls but otherwise is still distant. Later trains Yuzu in Quincy abilities but only because Masaki asked him to before her death. He later passes this on to Uryu because he is not the best teacher.
Since he works at the hospital he needed a way to keep his kakugan from activating. Through the efforts of both him and Isshin, they annoyed Urahara so much that he made them an oral medication that prevents the kakugan from activating for a time. This is why the fathers can both work in hospitals and smell blood without people suspecting them. After all no one is going to suspect a ghoul is working at a hospital.
He provides the ghouls main source of food. When a body is in the morgue of his hospital, he contacts Urahara who replaces it with a cheap inflatable Gigai. This Gigai lasts just long enough for the funeral so the stolen bodies are never discovered. He first makes sure Uryu is feed, then Orihime and then gives the rest to the Kurosaki’s. If not enough dead bodies come in for the month then Isshin leaves town and hunts while telling others he’s at a medical conference.
Ryuken’s ghoul identity is “Plague Doctor” due to his mask. He is the second ghoul being suspected of owning Karakura town. An A ranked ghoul due to his speed and projectile weapons, he is SS ranked when working with Isshin “Flame Oni”. He hates how in sync they are but tolerates it for the safely of the town.
Occasionally joins Uryu in visiting the Kurosaki’s. He only stays for a short while to talk to Isshin about whatever important things are going on, such as taking care of all the kids. Yuzu is happy her Uncle is visiting, Karin doesn’t really care and Ichigo likes to call him out on being an emotionally distant father. Uryu proceeds to tell him to shut up, sometimes leading to brawls in the living room.
Chad
Chad is a human with a Kokaku type quinque. It’s 2 gauntlets that connect through a long chain in the middle which goes over his arms and back. It makes his fullbring even stronger when using it. It was made from his abuelo’s greatest kill as a CCG Dove (a S ranked ghoul).
He carries the quinque case in a disguise bag for 2 reasons. The first is that owning a quinque outside the CCG is illegal and he won’t let anyone take his abuelo’s gift to him. The second reason is that the quinque makes his friends very uncomfortable so he disguises it out of respect for them. He uses a larger version of his high school bag to disguise it and carries it or uses the straps to wear it like a backpack.
When he moved to Karakura he saw Ichigo in the original thug beat down at the bridge. After that day, Chad was attacked by a passing ghoul who thought he looked tasty (Ichigo was preoccupied in a store). Chad got out his quinque despite never being thought how to use it but was loosing and had heavy wounds from his enemies kagune. Ichigo came back to the sounds of fighting and attacked the ghoul with his kagune. After the fight Ichigo only then realized Chad had a quinque and froze in place out of panic. Chad put the weapons away and limped over to Ichigo to help clean the blood off him. Chad really didn’t care that his friend was a ghoul, especially since said friend just saved his life.
Ichigo took Chad home and after getting patched up by Isshin, Chad became an honorary member of the ghouls. He joined them for monthly training considering he had no idea how to use his quinque and the adults would not have this rarely kind human die. He got a mask so he could use his quinque and not get recognized. He also has a costume that covers most of his body considering a half-Mexican and half-Japanese man is very easy to recognize, especially outside of a big city.
He is just the best ghoul ally. He is a very quiet individual but he will not stay silent when someone (mainly Tatsuki) is insulting ghouls in front of him or his friends. For a man of few words his words can sure pack a punch.
Tatsuki
Tatsuki is a human and doesn’t have the best image of ghouls. After Masaki’s death and Isshin being lost in his grief, a ghoul came into town and killed Tatsuki’s father. Ryuken “took care of” the offender and was the reason Isshin got off his ass.
Since beginning high school, Tatsuki has been in a CCG program over the weekends. She adds on to her pre-existing martial arts skills and is working her way up to learning quinque combat. Her quinque would be a bikaku that is a serrated edge sword and can stretch into a whip when needed. The whip is used to hold ghouls in place as the hooked spikes cause more damage when being taken out.
Tatsuki is still friends with Orihime and Ichigo. Orihime is her best friend and they share dinner quite often. When Tatsuki starts with the ghoul hate speech, Ichigo tells her to talk about something else or he’s leaving. Orihime kinds shuts down and starts doing something else to distract herself. Tatsuki is so caught up in her rage and grief that she normally doesn’t notice when Orihime does this. She gets frustrated with Ichigo but doesn’t stay mad at him.
Urahara
Urahara is a “human” with a vast knowledge of ghouls. He is the reason the CCG ignores Karakura for as long as it does. He hacks into the data base whenever something that might be important occurs (someone having to use their kagune and there’s a security camera nearby) and deletes the data. The CCG eventually figured out that someone is wiping the data and sends Doves to investigate the town. But that’s a whole other story arc.
Jinta and Ururu are failed half ghoul experiments that he may or may not have liberated from the CCG as kids. At first he took them to examine their DNA but he grew to love them. The weird genetics has taken a toll on the kid’s bodies; Jinta needs hearing aids and Ururu wears glasses. Urahara however does him best to keep the kids healthy.
As a man of science, he has taken the liberty of getting DNA samples of all the ghouls in town as the data on ghouls is limited to the CCG’s propaganda. He may or may not want to make his own half ghoul some day (or do it to himself); all in the name of science.
His shop sells all sorts of items that the ghouls may need. It is also the place where the ghouls have their monthly meetings. Most of the kids are suspicious of Urahara since he is clearly “human”. Ryuken and Isshin trust him though so that’s good enough for the kids, at least for now.

My first dump of this Bleach x Tokyo Ghoul AU
The Characters
Not every character can be a ghoul, it would make no sense what with ghouls being severally outnumbered by humans. Just being a ghoul isn’t the only way to change a character though
Ichigo
Of course Ichigo had to be a ghoul. He has a Kokaku kagune (same as his dad). I considered a Rinkaku since Ichigo is about powerful attacks but he’s always been a protector so having his own shield/ armor would be more fitting to his character. The kagune itself is a blood red that comes from his right shoulder.
When he gets his giant unnamed Zanpakto, he either avoids using his kagune (so he won’t tire himself out) or uses it to encase his arm and hand to stabilize his grip on the blades. In Shikai, he can grow his kagune over the blade to strengthen it a bit when activated. After learning Bankai, he has enough control and power over his kagune to slowly have it grow over his body as armor to protect himself. A protector needs to be able to take hits in order to stay standing.
Due to his kagune type, his bankai doesn’t quite give him that speed advantage so Yoruichi has to relentlessly train him in Flash Step even harder than in cannon.
Already having to deal with ghoul instincts makes him a little less panicked about his Inner Hollow. The fight they have at the visoreds hideout has a bigger impact on Ichigo as he realizes he may be a soul reaper but he still should fight like a ghoul sometimes. This prompts him to learn how to fight with his kagune better instead of just Zangetsu. Him and his Inner Hollow also become frenemies in a way, although neither will admit it.
Even for a ghoul, Ichigo has impressive hearing. In fights this helps him dodge attacks and prevent others from sneaking up on him. Outside of fights it makes him particularly annoyed at naturally loud people.
Yuzu
Yuzu inherited the Ukaku kagune from Masaki. She is still not a fighter and rarely uses her kagune except with her family when it’s time to train together. She is only ever able to use her kagune in fairly weak and short bursts, however is is quite fast and good at dodging attacks.
Unlike cannon, she starts developing quincy abilities (most likely during the time between the end of Soul Society arc and the beginning of the Hueco Mundo arc). Ryuken offers her training, as Masaki expressed to him that if any of her kids became Quincies he needed to help them where she could not. Uryu eventually takes over her training because Ryuken is absolutely not the best teacher. Isshin is very much not informed; no one wants that man to go after them.
She never gets soul reaper powers but her Quincy abilities let her protect herself from hollows weaker than Menos Grande.
While Yuzu is not particularly strong, she does have a ghoul’s heightened senses. Specifically her sense of smell which helps her tremendously so she never has to worry about being snuck up on.
Karin
Karin wins the genetic lottery and has a chimera kagune of Kokaku and Ukaku. Due to this she isn’t the best at any fighting style but she is very adaptable.
She starts showing signs of soul reaper powers around the same time Yuzu shows Quincy abilities. Since Isshin refuses to involve his girls, Karin goes to Urahara who she has always thought was shady but now has suspicions (after seeing how Ichigo has been acting). He helps her gain her zanpakto (in a less dangerous but more time consuming manner than Ichigo). No one is happy when they learn about this. Isshin will absolutely attempt to kill Urahara over this. It won’t work of course but it’s the thought that counts.
Before this however, she fights by instinctually putting spiritual energy in her kagune or her soccer ball. Her soccer ball isn’t exactly powerful, however it can be used without outing herself as a ghoul in public (since she is human and can’t run around as an unseen spirit like Ichigo). Her main attacks are with her kagune, but only when she is sure no one will see or she has a mask.
Isshin
Isshin has a kokaku kagune. After losing his soul reaper powers he gets particularly good at fighting with it to protect his wife and kids. The kagune engulfs his arm and shapes itself into a fire red blade. Once his soul reaper powers start to return it can also heat itself and set things it cuts ablaze.
In the CCG’s limited records, “Flame Oni” (due to his oni mask and fire red kagune), is one of the 2 ghouls suspected of being in control of Karakura town. He is considered an A ranked ghoul on his own and SS ranked when teamed up with “Plague Doctor” aka Ryuken. The 2 of them work very well as a team, to the point that it is theorized that they are brothers or lovers. Both men despise this idea however don’t dispute it for sake of their identities.
He is very protective of his family and town. After Masaki died, there was a period of time where the town did suffer some ghoul attacks as he was too busy drowning in grief to pay attention. Ryuken had enough and beat some sense into him. After this Isshin chased off any other ghouls that tried to move in as he already decided enough lived in the town.
He considers it his job to make sure all the child ghouls in town are taken care of. He organizes a meeting at Urahara’s shop every month so that he can see how they are all doing, get them food and teach them how to protect themselves. He may try to get his kids to ignore the spiritual threats (to the point of actively making Yuzu and Karin avoid learning about hollows and soup reapers), but the living ones he makes sure they can deal with.
Masaki
Masaki had an Ukaku type kagune. In combination with her quincy arrows it made her a powerful fighter.
Before her death she instructed Ryuken that if her kids ever showed signs of Quincy powers, he would teach them. She wanted her kids to avoid the spiritual world for as long as they could but accepted that it was inevitable, at least for Ichigo.
I’ll make more parts to this, the Kurosaki family is long enough

Ever wanted a fanfiction crossover between Bleach and Tokyo Ghoul? Don’t answer that, your getting one anyway
I started this story a couple years ago but I’m having a really hard time organizing all the ideas I have for it. So I’ll start posting them on here as most of them are too short / in no particular order for a fanfiction chapter.
The story can be summed up like this; Have you ever wondered what the bleach characters would be like in the Tokyo Ghoul world? Well your in luck cause literally everyone has been impacted by ghouls whether they are human, hollow, or soul reaper.
The story will be updated... eventually
https://archiveofourown.org/works/24396766?view_full_work=true
https://m.fanfiction.net/s/13410145/1/The-SSS-Ranked-Hollow
Other than Tumblr these are the only sites I use for fanfiction. No I do not use Wattpad
