Allen Walker is the Best Protagonist in Manga
Allen Walker is the best protagonist in manga, for many reasons. First and most obvious is that he is one of few shounen protagonists with common sense. Unlike Midoriya from My Hero Academia, Eren from Attack on Titan, Natsu from Fairy Tail or a slew of other shounen protagonists, he is generally level-headed, practical, and if necessary, underhanded – as can be seen below: Further, Allen is a…

I am obsessed with the idea that Tsuna comes into power and is just. Genuinely, truly, loved by his people. (He's a good leader, and he cares in a way that had been so, so rare for someone of his station.)
I'm also obsessed with the idea that his people, who love him and could never be afraid of him, start to pick up on his bullshit self-destructive tendencies and take offence. Give me a baker in a small town, suspiciously muscled and missing an eye, scowling down at Tsuna until Tsuna accepts an armful of free food. Give me a random old grandma, covered in tattoos, marching up to Tsuna in public and loudly questioning why he's so pale and berating him for spending too much time working. Give me a young maid in the Iron Fort, new to the job, catching Tsuna asleep at his desk and waking him up and staring him down until he leaves his paperwork to go sleep in a proper bed. Give me people, of all ranks and stations, adoring and unafraid of Vongola X, taking exception to the way he treats himself and seeing no issues in telling him so.
I am obsessed with the idea that Tsuna takes on the job of caring for the family, and the family takes on the job of caring for him in turn.

Re-reading the Simon arc what I find interesting is how both sides guardians speak about their respective boss.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Firstly we have Rauji vs Lambo. To Rauji the Simon is a family bonded by pain. To him Enma is a real boss. Someone above him. That Enma will avenge this loss in his place. Because in where he fails, Enma will make up for. However to Lambo, Tsuna is his older brother. Simple. In his eyes, he doesn't expect Tsuna to fight for him. It's because of Tsuna that he isn't even fighting that often. Tsuna introduced him to so much of the world, protecting him, allowing him to enjoy his childhood from a protective bubble. Even though the role of the Lightning guardians is meant to endure pain to draw away from the family, Tsuna is always protecting him. To Lambo they are bonded by happiness and enjoyment of life. Rauji wants Enma to fight for their sakes, Lambo wants Tsuna to bring him along to the fight. Lambo looks up to all of the guardians to be like them. Rauji just looks up to Enma as a boss in a different standing.
Tumblr media
Next we Shitt P vs Gokudera. Shitt P does love Enma that is a fact. However, she also sees his flaws. That's why she strives to be herself and love herself more than anyone. Relying on Enma to protect her is futile. In a way you can say Enma fails as a leader if she doesn't fully count on him or any of them to help her be herself. When she tries to convince Gokudera the same, that Tsuna will one day fail him, he doesn't see it. Because to him, though Tsuna is terrible at a lot of things, he sees Tsuna as a boss and friend. Tsuna accepted his flaws and Gokudera accepted his flaws, allowing them to grow off of one another. Again this difference in power where there's this expectation that Enma as the boss should be powerful and flawless which he isn't causing her to lose faith in him in the long run. She doesn't talk about him like he's going to restore the Simon name like the others do that she must live with herself always being a bottom dog and accept that. That pedestal of being boss is always shut down by Tsuna especially towards Gokudera. Be a friend first and see eye to eye. And while Gokudera is still working on it, he can say that he doesn't look to Tsuna to protect him. They protecr each other, side by side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally we have Adelheid vs Hibari. Out of all the Simon guardians Adelheid views Enma as their hero the highest. Because of that she never sees Enma's struggles. Convincing herself that the boy understands what has to be done to restore their name. And yes he does understand but does he fully accept it? No way. As he and Tsuna and the rest of the Simon got closer, Enma was not blind that Tsuna's generation was not the same as those that abused them. To throw that away was painful but yes it convinced him that this way of pain was the only option in their cruel world. Reminder this is 400 years of revenge and pain that is on Enma to fix. That's heavy and he can't say no. Not to the only family he has left. Enma is crying for help to figure out why it has to be this way but Adelheid only sees him as a strong boss that already accepted his fate and created this respect for that image that he couldn't dare break.
Contrast to that is Hibari who barely ever associates himself with the Vongola let alone as Tsuna's guardian. He pretty much says that he thanks Tsuna for allowing him freedom to move, but one day he's gonna beat the shit out of him. Hibari sees Tsuna as a small animal that one day will grow to have his respect. But until then he will help him grow. One look at Tsuna was all he needed to know that the boy was lost (in finding his pride). By viewing Tsuna as literally a normal boy there is no special treatment for him. All the respect that Tsuna has gained, has been earned through everything they've been through. They are not boss and guardian. They are fighters on a field. Eye to eye with no power difference (like hierarchy wise, pretty sure Hibari rightful thinks Tsuna is physically weaker than him)
In general, the Simon look up to Enma like their saviour, the one that will bring them into the light and repay back all the pain they've suffered. Meanwhile the Vongola look at Tsuna like a regular dude. And again I do think that they love Enma and consider all of them to be extremely close but they were doomed to lose from the start because of all these expectations on Enma that eventually crushed him to the point that the truth of the past couldn't be seen.

PROPAGANDA
Yukio Okumura (LONG PROPAGANDA)
(Does contain spoilers and suicide mentions) Ok so the main issue I see people having with him is because he has threatened his brother and has shot him before. (His brother, Rin, is also the fan favorite so you can probably imagine people's feelings towards those scenes.) A lot of times Yukio also comes off as mean because he's a pretty closed off person and people don't like that either.
Although what people love to ignore is the reasons as to *why* he acts this way. (Granted, harming your brother is not an ok thing to do and it doesn't excuse that but it explains why he did what he did.) For starters, Rin was the one who inherited Satan's demonic power, not Yukio, meaning that Rin could potentially become dangerous even though his powers were locked away until he was about 15. Because of this, the boys' adoptive father, Shiro, put the responsibility of protecting Rin onto Yukio from the age of 7. So while Yukio was training to become an exorcist at a very young age, Rin got to live without knowing anything about demons or exorcists. This did cause some envy from Yukio, who felt the crushing pressure of having to do everything for his brother while Rin had no idea. Later on, Rin's power awakens at 15 (the present time in the story) and after a series of events, Shiro ends up dying due to becoming possessed by Satan. With their legal guardian dead, Yukio is now the one who has to take care of Rin because if his demonic power gets discovered, Rin will be executed by the Vatican. So yeah. In the span of ONE DAY Yukio now has even more pressure put on him and he didn't even get to say goodbye to Shiro, let alone grieve for him because he had to be the calm and collected one in the situation. (Yukio is also 15 btw!!) Now, both boys are going to enroll in True Cross Academy, a school that also has a secret exorcist program. At this time, Rin has no knowledge that Yukio knows what's going on. It's only until he's at the exorcist cram school that Rin finds out that his teacher is Yukio. This leads to a confrontation between the brothers as Rin feels rightfully betrayed that everyone knew except him. This is also where Yukio reveals some of his concerns, leading to people not liking him. Essentially, Yukio says that Rin could be a danger to others because he can't control his powers yet and that Yukio will kill him if it's necessary (this is also where he threatens his brother with a gun). Eventually the conflict does get resolved and they go back to normal for the most part. So not only does Yukio have to keep his brother from getting into trouble (which he does. several times. Rin does eventually get discovered.) but he also has to be an exorcist AND a teacher. Yukio constantly has to act like an adult throughout the series, and HE'S ONLY 15!! He has so much pressure put on him by everyone and if he makes a mistake, either him or Rin could die. As the series continues, you can see Yukio's mental health rapidly worsening due to his self-hatred leading him to several suicide attempts (which he doesn't die because Satan is now residing in his body). Yukio also feels that Shiro never really cared about him and only kept him to be raised as a weapon. All this and the fact that he's being manipulated by another antagonist character leads him to join sides with the Illuminati (the evil organization). By doing this, he will be able to take down the Illuminati from the inside and hopes that he and Satan will die along with it. The entire time up to this point Rin does not realize just how bad Yukio's mental health has been (which to be fair, Yukio is pretty closed off and has lied to his brother several times). Yukio then tries to force Rin to kill him, and ultimately fails because Rin cares too much. Overall, Yukio had so many responsibilities and felt as though he had to take everything on alone. It's honestly very tiring seeing people villainize everything bad he's ever done while completely ignoring how much he actually cares for his brother + all his mental health issues. This is only a summary of the things he's gone through so there's definitely some other details that show the escalation of his depression that weren't included here. But yeah. Justice for Yukio. He does not deserved to be treated like Satan (pun intended).
Apple White
everyone shut up about her being evil and selfish she is a teenage girl who has been raised HER WHOLE LIFE with this ideology, she can’t unlearn her entire belief system overnight especially when it’s so deeply tied to her identity as a person. also she literally does let go of it eventually, because she’s not a static character, she has an arc. apple is my favorite because she’s complex, not in spite of it. on the flipside there’s the people who act like she didn’t do anything wrong. i’ve seen people call raven the selfish one? this show was made for 5 years olds. how do you have less media comprehension that a 5 year old. and also, you’re loving apple the wrong ways!! she makes mistakes. she fucks up so much, and it’s awesome. i get overcompensating because the haters are so loud or whatever, but saying she’s perfect is erasing what makes her interesting. this propaganda is not very good because I’m guessing a lot of propaganda looks identical (edelgard and vriska have similar issues in fandom spaces) so here is my final pitch. vote for apple because she’s a lesbian (her canon soulmate was a girl). vote for apple because she’s a protagonist in a kids cartoon who was a lesbian way back in jan 2016. vote for apple because mattel let the face of their new franchise be a girl who likes girls (still feels surreal) #gayrights #applesweep

The Blue Exorcist Fandom has no media literacy
I keep seeing takes where people say "Rin's friends are bad friends and are fake. They shouldn't have gotten upset at Rin for learning he's the son of satan" and it makes me angry. These are children. 15-16 years of age. Many of their lives have been ruined by Satan. OBVIOUSLY, they're gonna be kinda upset. They aren't gonna have a mature reaction. Plus. They got over it pretty quickly. ALSO ALSO, the latter half of season 1 isn't canon. None of that shit happened in the manga. It's all made up. They didn't react like that. Their real reaction was the Kyoto saga. Also. Rin isn't an uwu soft boy who can do no wrong. And I'm tired of people acting like he is. Yes, I love him too. He's one of my favorites. BUT, he isn't innocent. He DOES have dangerous powers that he needs to learn to control. I'm so tired of the blue exorcist fandom acting like they never watched the show or read the manga. OH AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON YUKIO. You can not like him all u want. But you can't say he hates his brother. You just can't. They both love each other. They both are jealous of each other. And. Quick spoiler warning. YUKIO LITERALLY TRIES TO OFF HIMSELF. HE DOES DANGEROUS ASS TRAINING BC HE FEELS INFERIOR TO RIN. Omg. And yeah. He joined the Illuminati. Betraying them. Yeah. That's BAD. But people act like he's a disgusting roach just bc he treats Rin badly at times. Like. Omg. Not everyone can like Rin. Not every character NEEDS to like him. That's what makes stories interesting. I'm not a Yukio apologist or whatever. I'm just tired of the mischaracterization.
Anyways. That's all.

Exactly this what i don't understand, like, in the other works they would prefer the most crazy f¥kedup Psychopathic characters, but they hate yukio because he fought with rin?would they like him more if he was more manipulativ like Mephisto?more into destroying the world like Satan? More cold like lucifer? Like I see why they don't like him but this too much, he is obviously not a Saint but neither the others, not even rin, that's kinda thr whole point...
The way people talk about yukio pisses me off cuz he would have absolutely been a fan favorite if he were in literally any other manga

I'm going back to the blue Exorcist fandom because a new season has come out and honestly i'm already tired of the fandom. All of Yukio's hate is produced more out of "he's mean to Rin😭😔" than any other personal reasons. Fuck off from him, he tried to commit suicide three times. He's 16 for fucks sake.
he is not a universal evil, he is not a bad person, he is just a teenage boy who is traumatized and broken. and there's no shit "but rin—" no, no rin anymore. For Yukio, this has always been a big trigger, he needs his own personal comfort and not the throwing of his brothers in his face.
And that's OKAY. just because Rin loves him doesn't mean that Yukio feels loved. It's terrible to blame people for like "you cant see how I love you, you ungrateful shit". Yukio had a purpose in life that was built to copy his father and his goals, Yukio lost everything when he found out the truth and his moral compass went astray. He is in terrible confusion, in fear and misunderstanding, he cannot explain his feelings and deal with them himself, he feels absolutely alone. his fake identity is starting to crack at the seams and it's physically painful because this "mask" has grown into his skin. even if he is surrounded by people who can help him, he does not see it, he does not feel safe and understands that he will not be understood at the level he wanted.
Seriously, he could have done a ton of shit and I'm still going to defend him because he's acting like this not because he's just an asshole, but because he's in pain and we all get angry when it hurts. especially if it hurts all the time. especially if you're tired, but you can't sleep it off because it's not your body that's tired. It's your soul.
Im stand with my cancelled husband :((((
ps. His bro too, i saw last chapters.
