I have a headcannon that Ginny and Harry were insanely PDA forward. But like not on purpose. And Ginny knows it, she’s aware of the fact that they are always touching, kissing, sitting by (if not on top of) each other, that Harry is always touching her hair, squeezing her bum if he thinks he’s being sneaky, will kiss her if he feels like it. But Harry, because he has absolutely no frame of reference for affection, is simply unaware of the fact that maybe he doesn’t have to be so affectionate with people around. And one day all the Weasley siblings are talking about PDA and Harry says something like “oh yeah pda can be kind of annoying.” And they all look at him like ????? And Ginny is giggling behind her hand and tells Harry “you know we are constantly doing that.” Harry is incredulous. The siblings all take turns giving examples just to prove to him that he is very much guilty of this. Included are :
-that one time when we didn’t have enough chairs to sit everyone and you just put Ginny in your lap all night and held her there even when a chair became available
-you’ve kissed 5 times since we got here, Ron hasn’t kissed me yet
-you’re holding hands under the table right now
- oh my god. Your legs are literally intertwined. YOU’RE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER
- sometimes when people are talking to you, you do this thing were you just stare at each other. It’s very uncomfortable for us. Like we are interrupting a moment
-If you were zoo animals, parents would cover their kids eyes thinking you’re about to mate
-sometimes I think you are doing it just to get a rise out of Bill
And when Harry kept denying that none of those were that bad, George finally looked at him and yells
“You literally squeezed her boob earlier”
….”but I did it when no one was watching”
“obviously not mate”
Ginny can’t stop cackling.

Heyyy I absolutely loooove your metas and fics and istg I've read all of them and I constantly keep reading them. Big fan, maam! Also I have a question, how do you think Ginny's family, especially each of her overprotective brothers reacted when they got to know that Harry and Ginny dated? And then broke up and the again got back together?
Thank you so so much for reading (and re-reading!!!!) all of my stuff, you absolute legend 💗💖💘
You will be unsurprised to hear that I've thought about this one a lot. The short version is: I'm Team The Weasleys Always Sort Of Knew Something Was Going On and Were Supportive (if a bit Amused). The longer version is below the cut!
(Also someone else kindly sent an ask about this a while ago, about Molly and Arthur knowing about the break-up, and I completely forgot to post my reply to that, so very sorry to that anon, and hope the too-long discussion of this Q under the cut makes up for it!)
Tumblr media
I think there's a lot of evidence that throughout the series at least some of the Weasleys speculated something was going on or would one day go on between Harry and Ginny (especially the observant ones - Bill, Molly, Arthur, maybe even the twins, to some extent):
Ginny's historic crush on Harry in CoS is about as subtle as a brick through the window, visible both at the Burrow and at school with the Valentine, which the twins and Ron all know about (and rinse Harry for)
Ginny's romantic life is canonically the subject of some sibling speculation (see Fred and George at WWW in HBP), as are the love lives of all the siblings bar Charlie and the twins (Bill, Percy, Ron all get the sibling side-eye)
Starting in Christmas in OotP Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny begin to hang out a lot that Christmas as a foursome in ways that might invite some idle speculation about the pairings within…
By HBP, Harry does spend both the summer and Christmas holidays of 1996 either in cahoots with Ginny to tease Ron or staring at her or getting goosebumps whenever she got physically close to him (have you seen a teenage boy with a crush? Also criminally unsubtle)
Tumblr media
When Harry and Ginny get together in HBP, I don't think Ginny would ever tell her parents or any brothers other than Ron that she's started dating Harry. But there may well have been clues her family might pick up on:
After Bill's attack by Greyback, Bill remains in the Hospital Wing. It's implied that Molly, Arthur and Fleur stay either in the castle or in Hogsmeade in the days between the attack on the Astronomy Tower and Dumbledore's funeral. Harry and Ginny are together at this point, spending all their time together with Ron and Hermione. Obviously Fleur, Molly and Arthur would be preoccupied with Bill's recovery, but I do think it would be noticeable that the trio had become a four, and that Harry and Ginny seemed much closer than they were previously - Fleur in particular I think might notice, given her affection for Harry, and likely pass on her speculation to Bill (hi sorry you got savaged by a werewolf but guess who your sister is smashing)
Many of the teachers close to Molly and Arthur (such as McGonagall and Hagrid) likely knew about Harry and Ginny (if Snape and Slughorn knew, the goodies knew too, I reckon). They would have had occasion to mention it to the family at least in passing in that interim period between the attack and the funeral (my money is on Hagrid)
At the funeral itself, Harry and Ginny sit together in public and interact quite intimately before the break up takes place (Ginny whispering in his ear, nudging him, then obviously staying sat alone together after the funeral is over). All her family are in attendance, and remain close by when the break-up happens, and likely travel back to London altogether (though I don't think they would necessarily witness the breakup or notice it happening in the moment). I think it would be clear that there was something going on between Harry and Ginny, even if it wasn't at all clear what that was
Tumblr media
In DH, you have quite a few moments where there are even more little hints that Harry and Ginny was a bit of an open secret among the Weasleys:
In DH, Ron makes that comment about Ginny and the tattoo as they strip off in the seven Potters scene, in front of his dad, Bill, Fleur and the twins (Ginny's seen Harry shirtless because they're just very good pals, don't worry about it!)
Ok this one is a bit galaxy-brain take sleuthing on my part but during the wedding prep Molly is deliberately trying to separate the trio and convince them not to leave. She allocates the tasks and assigns them to combinations of people very deliberately. The evening after Molly corners Harry and tries to get him not to leave, she makes Harry and Ginny set the dinner table alone in the kitchen. Now, do we think Molly Weasley, Mastermind in Chief, might have put Harry and Ginny on a task together the same evening as she tries to persuade Harry not to go on the hunt... is this Molly pulling out the big guns...
At the wedding, Ginny winks at Harry in front of her entire assembled family when Muriel says she's showing too much boob (icon alert). And then Harry spends most of the reception leaning against a pillar staring at Ginny in front of her entire family. I mean, lads. You're killing me
When the DA summon the Order before the Battle in the Room of Requirement, Ginny is my petty queen has that infamous interaction with Cho over the diadem in front of the twins, showing she is giving precisely zero shits at this point
Harry and Ginny have that wordless interaction where Harry refuses to support her staying behind to fight in the battle, in front of all her family, where she at least appears to agree to go home only because Harry has said so, taking his direction over that of her family's. (I mean, we all know Ginny then tries to sneak off to fight because she's not only a petty queen but also a sneaky one but... still significant)
The big one for me is Ginny's reaction to Harry's death. She screams the loudest out of McGonagall, Hermione and Ron when she sees his body, in front of all the Weasleys and all combatants. I'm not saying this grieving war-ravaged family were thinking like huh weird that Ginny's so sad rn given the situation at hand, but I do think it was quite a telling moment for what Harry and Ginny had become by this point in the narrative
Tumblr media
All this is to say I think many of the Weasleys might have suspected something was going on, but didn't know the full story, and have the discretion not to blame Harry for Ginny’s misery nor to pry too much after the breakup, especially when Ginny comes home from school heartbroken (which is partly why I had them trying to cheer Gin up somewhat ambiguously in think / hope - her parents can see she's extremely sad, they aren't entirely sure about why or about of the details, but I think they're attentive, loving parents who aren't stupid and might have their suspicions).
Overall, then, when Harry and Ginny get back together after the war, I think the family both sort-of suspect there's been this thing coming on between them for a while, and, while they'd perhaps be surprised by the extent of it (there is literally no chill way to say 'hey I thought of your sister as I died!'), I think Molly, Arthur and the brothers would just be happy for them, with a few jokes and 👀 comments here and there. I don’t think they’d be angry at Harry for the breakup or sincerely over-protective and territorial over Ginny. They love Harry like a brother, they'd love the idea of him being formally part of the family one day, and they trust him implicitly.
Honestly, I think it makes sense that Ron was the one who would have by far the most extreme reaction to the breakup in particular, and even his response is reasonably mature. It's worth noting that it's actually only Ron and the twins that ever openly actually discuss and try to pry/interfere in Ginny's romantic life - the twins in HBP to take the piss a bit (in a slightly slut-shamey way - 'you're going through boyfriends a bit fast, aren't you?'), and Ron both during in the infamous fight over the Dean kiss and during his angry conversations with Harry post break-up. I think this is peak big-brother-to-Ginny-but-actually-little-brother-to-everyone-else energy, playing up overprotective. I don't think Bill, being eleven years older than Gin would at any point be that interested in policing Ginny's romantic life, I think Charlie truly would notice very little and care even less. Percy's got bigger fish to fry and other issues to wrangle with after the war, not to mention a whole relationship with both Ginny and Harry to mend. I think, at most, Harry and Ginny get a bit of teasing from her brothers but that's about it (my dumb headcanon is the first time they hear Harry call Ginny 'Gin' they're like... excuse me? Who the fuck is that?) I think actually protective big brother energy, from the likes of Bill, would mean worrying about the two of them in terms of public media scrutiny, which must be relentless, and about their long-term safety from reprisal attacks more than anything else.
I also think it’s clear that Harry really doesn’t care all that much what the rest of the Weasleys think lol, and certainly doesn't fear them. He does fear the loss of Ron's friendship in HBP (wrongly, because Ron is an OG Hinny shipper), but that’s a fear specifically about Ron’s reaction, not that of his wider family. In DH, Harry’s fully about to go hold Ginny for a bit in front of Molly with zero qualms, and the two of them hold hands in the vicinity of Order members and family members twice (once entering the hospital wing in HBP, and once at the Burrow) - not an especially declaratory gesture, but one that suggests they don’t hugely fear discovery. I think both of them would accept the need to be braced for mockery but basically trust the family not to be dicks about it. The important thing to remember is that canonically Ginny Weasley can and will hex you if you step out of line

do you ever just think about how ginny weasley is the only other person in harry potter’s life who knows what it’s like to go to your death staring into the face of tom riddle
like, we talk about harry and ginny both knowing what it is to have riddle in their heads but, after the war, there’s this new other thing: that they both know what it feels like to suddenly realise you’re going to die, there’s nothing you can do to stop it, and to go through this terrifying process of accepting you’re about to be murdered?
“So I made Ginny write her own farewell on the wall and come down here to wait. She struggled and cried and became very boring. But there isn’t much life left in her... She put too much into the diary, into me. Enough to let me leave its pages at last...” - CoS
ginny weasley at eleven years old writing her goodbye on the wall and thinking she was never going to see her mum and her dad and her brothers again. slipping unconscious, everything fading to black, thinking she was going to die as a little child, no one to tell her she was loved and forgiven as she slipped from this world. that the last face she thought she would ever see was the boy who murdered her and mocked her as she lay dying. waking up and coming back from the brink of death with harry staring back at her
harry potter at seventeen years old counting his own remaining heartbeats, slipping away to the forest, having to walk calmly away from the people he loves without saying goodbye to stand in front of riddle and let him kill him. looking into riddle’s face and having his be the last face he thought he’d ever see, all hope of a family and a future stolen from him. closing his eyes and thinking of gin as that flash of green light seems to end it all
(also that the only other people harry knows who went to their deaths that way, feeling that panic and grief and terror, are lily and james…….)
anyway i just think that that’s huge and awful and important ok!!!

Number 8 and hinny
In the dark kiss. (Under the cut for reasons, just to be safe)
Harry wasn't sure what he had expected, but full darkness claimed his surroundings as soon as he closed the door behind him. Maybe he should have paid attention before the lights were off because as he took another step in, he managed to stumble upon something metallic that rolled away from him.
Ginny giggled; he turned towards the sound, then promptly hit a shelf with his head.
"Here," she said helpfully, and he felt her hands on his arm, guiding him to her. "So—is the broom closet all you imagined?"
Harry shrugged, then remember she couldn't see him in the darkness. "I didn't think it would be like this," he admitted. The idea had sounded nice and daring, and he hadn't hesitated when Ginny had led him through the halls in search of a broom closet, but now he was remembering fondly that the grounds were warm and sunny, and he enjoyed the sunlight reflecting on her hair.
"Filch puts a door sweep to avoid rats," she explained, then snorted when he jumped. "There won't be any rats, that's why is so dark, remember?"
His face burned; Harry was glad that Ginny couldn't see it. It wasn't like he was afraid of rats, but there was something eerily in being in that small room, unable to see anything no matter how much he squinted his eyes; he was totally blind, unprotected. It was suddenly hard to breathe.
"Hey," Ginny called him, taking a step closer to him and placing his arms around her waist. "I'm here," she whispered, and it was easy to focus on her more than on the irrational fear that the walls were closing in.
He was holding Ginny, his girlfriend, and she was real. Her floral shampoo scent was real, far stronger than any citrus smell from the cleaning products; he inhaled her perfume, letting it comfort him. The warmth from her body was real, and he searched for that gap in her shirt that he adored so much, feeling her skin, tracing the goosebumps that arose under his touch.
And her mouth was real as she moved closer, and her lips brushed his neck, sucking the skin gently.
A gasp escaped his lips, the sound louder in the dark; he ought to break away, embarrassed, but Harry found out that as with many other things, it was easy to hide any self-consciousness and just enjoy Ginny's touch. Perhaps she felt the same, for as he leaned in, his hand holding her up to support her, he felt her fingers climbing under his shirt, her nails tracing his chest, leaving a burning path.
Even the sound of his heartbeat seemed to echo in that broom closet.
And then he pulled her closer, his lips searching for hers. He'd shared countless kisses by now, but there was something about being in the darkness with Ginny that Harry hadn't considered before; maybe the whole world had disappeared and it was just the two of them now, two bodies and souls together in that emptiness, but as long as he were with her, he was fine with it.
Her hand was over his heart now, and Harry knew she could feel how quick it was; his fingers traced her curves, going further than he had gone under the sunlight on the grounds, but as with everything, the darkness seemed to boost his boldness. Her skin was very smooth, so inviting. Ginny gasped when he touched her bra, and for a moment, Harry was almost brought back to reality; then Ginny pressed her lips against his once again, her tongue moving a bit more desperately, her hand burying itself in his hair to mess it, and that was all the encouragement that Harry needed; his fingers traced the fabric of her bra, then moved up, his heart racing even faster—
And then there was a light, blinding light, and where Harry was pulled back from that starless night to a burst of sunshine he didn't welcome for once.
"What—" He called, but he wasn't the only one to say something (or to curse lowly, in Ginny's case); when he could distinguish anything, he saw that Hermione was staring at them, mouth opened, and then he realised that he was still close to Ginny, her shirt lifted enough to show her ribs, and his hand was over her—
They jumped apart.
"I—sorry, Hermione," said Ginny, her voice an octave louder than usual as she fixed her clothes. "We were just sightseeing."
"Sightseeing," replied Hermione slow and disbelievingly.
"Yes, well." Ginny left the broom closet, her face now a mask of innocence even though her cheeks were still pink. "Harry had never been inside a broom closet before."
"Yeah," Harry agreed, recovering himself; he tried to comb his hair, as pointless as it always was. "I couldn't graduate from Hogwarts without the broom closet experience."
Hermione stared at them before shaking her head, apparently deciding they were hopeless. "Go on—you should be studying for your OWLs, Ginny—ah, don't look me like that. You should be glad it wasn't Ron that interrupted your... sightseeing."
Ginny looked mutinous, but Harry, face deep red, just pulled her down the hall, away from Hermione's sight.
"She would enjoy a few minutes with Ron in a broom closet," Ginny mumbled, annoyed.
Harry, who didn't want to imagine Ron and Hermione in the same conditions he had been with Ginny, just shrugged. "Sightseeing?" He asked instead, hoping to distract her. "I couldn't see one foot in front of me and you said we were sightseeing?"
Her face broke into a mischievous smile. "I didn't say you were seeing with your eyes," she teased, taking his hand and placing a kiss on his knuckles that sent a jolt down his body.
"Oh."
"Wanna keep seeing things? There is a broom closet in the floor above.
Harry raised his eyebrows. "I don't wanna get caught," he noted, placing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"That's what Locking Spells are for." She grinned. "And since they are probably going to be on my exams, you would even be helping me study."
His heart raced. "All for your education," he said, accepting her pull to the stairs.

"Harry... and Ginny."
A happy squeal. "Yes."
"Ginny and Harry."
"Yes."
"My best friend and—"
"Your best sister." The giggle turns into a snort, but Hermione is past caring. She was right, despite Harry's throw away comments and Ginny's insistence that they were just friends—Hermione had seen that from afar.
And, yes, she is also happy for them.
Ron blinks. "Did you know?"
"That Harry was going to come here, Ginny would jump into his arms, and they would snog in front of everyone? Well, no. But that they had feelings for each other... it was obvious."
"It bloody wasn't—a guy has no warning—why didn't you tell me?"
"Because you turn a Welsh Dragon whenever you think someone might fancy your sister."
Ron's ears turn pink. "Well, I'm her big brother, someone needs to—but anyway, it's Harry. He wouldn't, you know—"
"Mistreat Ginny?" She smirks. "I'm pretty sure Harry is treating her very well right now."
"No, stop it, I don't want—seeing once was more than enough—"
"I don't think you only see it once."
"Ugh—why are you being mean?"
She sobers up. "I'm not." She pulls him close to the table with drinks, urging Ron to accept a butterbeer. "I just think you should prepare yourself. And I know Harry, he was nervous around you as it was."
"Me? Why?"
"Ron... you are 'her big brother'. Welsh Dragon? Almost jinxed Dean?"
"It was Dean. He wasn't good enough."
"Oh, keep talking like that and it's Ginny who you should worry about, not Harry."
"Even Ginny agrees that Dean is a git now."
"The only thing Ginny agrees with is that you have no business in her romantic life—right? You are not giving Harry the older brother talk, are you?"
"I will?" His eyes widen. "Oh, Merlin's butt, I should, shouldn't I? It's Harry—"
"Your best friend, exactly! Don't give him a hard time—Harry's had a crush on Ginny for ages now—"
"I won't give him a hard time." Ron frowns. "I may have been blind to Harry crushing on my sister, but I saw how they looked."
"And how it was?"
"Happy," says Ron simply. "Ginny is that bright spot of sunshine when she wants, okay, nothing unusual, but Harry—he was beaming. I never saw him like that, not on his first Quidditch match, nor when Gryffindor won the cup. It was almost weird."
Hermione sighs. "Yeah... After everything—I am so thrilled for them."
"Me too," he agrees, then Ron blinks. "Me too." He coughs. "That's not to say I am not going to have a little talk with Harry—"
"Ron..."
"But away from Ginny's ears. Just in case."
She grins. "Smart."

“I’ve been complaining all the time, you must be thinking I’m not enjoying to play Quidditch anymore…” “Well, it’s much more than that now. You have your teammates and club counting on you, so of course it’s stressful.” “Thank you for not telling me to give up only to make me feel better.” “I would never tell you to be what you’re not. Giving up won’t make you happy.”

I don't know why but I imagine hestia girlie wearing mostly pink things, idk what do you think
honey, me too, but it's because I use Hestia as the insertion of myself in the fanfics shhahahahahah, and, Pink is my favorite color, and I love to write about people being 'girly', because usually girls like that in books they are seen as futile idiots, and it made me sad ahahahahahahah
but also because it's a nice contrast to Sirius, and it's fun to imagine it, him with all that unfeeling person pose, wearing black, and Hestia on his side like this:

Thank you so much for sharing your idea of Hestia with me, I really enjoy talking about her <3

sirius/hestia. “i like seeing you happy.”
“you make me happy…”💖
Thanks Anon, it took me a while to write, but, I really liked how it came out. I love the idea of Sirius playing the piano, and I hope you like it too❤️
------
The music resonated through their house, which made Hestia wake up and notice the empty bed beside her, blinking confusedly in the dark as she felt cold without him beside her.
Standing up and shivering with cold as she stepped onto the cold floor, Hestia grabbed a blanket from the blanket box they had, a chest in the corner of the room, and then wrapped herself in it, walking downstairs knowing where she would find he - and it wasn't just because that was where classical music came from.
Sirius had been spending a lot of time in their living room, sitting at the piano as played for hours.
''I woke you up? Sorry, I forgot to apply the charm,'' He grimaced when he noticed her there, standing in the doorway with her hands over her eyes, trying to get used to the light from the candles he had lit, walking like a cranky child toward him, sitting beside him and covering Sirius' legs with the same blanket that covered her. "I'm not cold," he said, smiling at her.
But Hestia didn't mind, imagining that he couldn't have been warm when it was winter outside and Sirius was wearing just a pair of sleep trunks and nothing else.
"But I am," Hestia laid her head in his lap, closing her eyes as she listened to the music play. It had become a habit already. “Nightmares?” she asked after a while.
"Insomnia." No one spoke for a while, just the noise of the piano keys being heard, and now and then Sirius whistled a song Hestia didn't know.
"Can you play the one I like?" Hestia asked, knowing he would. He always played.
"Yes, ma'am," Sirius chuckled softly, drastically stepping out of the melodramatic song that sounded like Beethoven's to start playing the song he played at their wedding, making Hestia smile. They didn't have a big party, in fact, the only people there were James and Lily (Sirius's bestman, and Hestia's bridesmaid), and it had been a wedding in the middle of the living room of their old apartment. The war had turned serious, and neither she nor Sirius knew what might happen tomorrow, so that was the best option for the time.
Sirius charmed the piano to play that song when James and Lily left, after a few glasses of wine and an attempt to forget about the war for a few hours, and they danced together for a good few minutes before he picked her up and carried her to their bed. ‘’When we can get out of here, we will travel to Amsterdam.’’
"Oh, that Honeymoon trip you've promised me for more than years already, but never took me?" Hestia opened her eyes, turning to get a better look at him. Sirius smiled, never lowering his head to look at her, keeping his eyes on the sheet music in front of him - even though he didn't need it anymore, so many times he played those songs.
"Exactly," Hestia could see his arm muscles working from that angle, and it was quite attractive. ‘’I always said that one day we would go, but I never said when,"
''You're boring," She closed her eyes again, not wanting to think too much about how handsome Sirius was while playing the piano, because it triggered a memory in Hestia about how good he was with his fingers, and she really needed to go back to sleep, they had a meeting with the Order first thing in the morning.
Sirius chuckled, stopping playing to stretch and then yawning. Hestia felt him stretch his arms and legs, and then his hand touched her hair, making a tender caress before he went back to playing some classic song she didn't remember the name, but loved hearing he play.
"You should go sleep in bed," he said, but Hestia shook her head, pulling the blanket closer to her chin, glad the stool was big enough for her to stretch her legs.
"I don't like sleeping without you."
"I'll go there in a few minutes."
"Alright then, we'll go together," Hestia dropped a kiss on his thigh, without malice, just because she didn't miss an opportunity to show her love to Sirius. ‘’I already said that I like to hear you play…’’
They fell silent, and Hestia felt her body soften as the music continued, drifting into sleep. It wasn't the first time she had slept there, and it probably wouldn't be the last, as Sirius seemed to be having more and more trouble sleeping through the night, even though Moody had let them out a few times, it didn't seem enough.
The war would still drive them mad.
Hestia only opened her eyes again when she felt strong arms taking her, and soon recognized that Sirius had finally decided to go back to bed, and had picked her up. She curled up in his arms, as she always did, too tired to say his gentleness wasn't necessary and she could walk.
"Let's go to sleep, doll," He laid her down, and it wasn't long before Hestia had him there again in bed, allowing her to wrap her legs around his like she liked to do, and hug him to sleep.
She liked to say that Sirius was her pillow.
"When this is all over," Sirius muttered. "We will get married again."
"Again?" Hestia asked, still a little self-conscious.
‘’Yes, again. And this time, we'll have a big party,” he promised, kissing her forehead. ‘’And we will have our honeymoon.’’
"I would marry you even in the middle of nowhere, babe."
"But you deserve better than the living room in our apartment," They both laughed and Sirius tightened his arms around Hestia, who sighed wearily into his chest. ‘’I like to see you happy and I know its your dream-’’
"You make me happy," Hestia interrupted him. "Now, enough of this and let's sleep, Black… Good night and I love you."
‘’I love you too, doll."

sirius/hestia: smutt
hi anon!
I know it wasn't that kind of smut, but I promise I will write more Sirius x Hestia ahahaha
For now, this cute domestic moment (the book is The Love Hypothesis, and yes, I do think the guy on the book cover looks like Sirius)
Smut
''What are you reading? One of those porn?''
''It's not porn!'' Hestia laughed, pushing Sirius away from her and her book. ''It's romance, and it's about fake dating... He's a teacher, and she's a student. Not his, but she is a PhD student at the same university he teaches,’’
''It's always porn, Hess,'' He sat on the hammock beside her, quickly shifting to lie on her lap as Hestia continued to lightly rock the hammock back and forth, concentrating on her book. ''He looks like me!''
''And he's an equal idiot,'' Hestia chuckled, looking at the book's cover and then at Sirius. ''It's not the same, but I see what you saw,''
''Is that why you're reading? Because you imagine me in his place? Want to play teacher and student tonight?''
''Ew, Sirius, stop talking shit,'' But she's smiling, having fun with him.
''Is that why you were like that last night? Was that something you read?” He looked at her curiously, and when his cheeks flushed, Sirius had the answer. ''I do not believe it! I need to read it to know if I did it justice!''
''Shut up, Sirius,'' Hestia brought the book closer to her face, hiding behind it. ''But you did.''
He laughed. "I'm always available, love, for you to use me as a live action for your spicy stories."

Fic prompt! Hinny + "how did you not realize we've been dating for over a year now?"
Thank you for sending a Hinny prompt! 💖 Here's some sort of HBP Missing Moment:
*-*-*-*
“I heard it was your fault Dean and I broke up.”
It’s not the undeniable truth that makes Harry splutter his drink, but rather all those other feelings that come with Ginny’s presence as she sits next to him, twirling the end of her ponytail between her fingers, her lips curved into an amused smile.
“Sorry,” she adds, patting his back, which, of course, does not help to calm his racing heart. It’s stupid because this is not the first time Ginny sits next to him (Harry is very grateful for the fact they enjoy having meals around the same time and the Gryffindor table isn’t that large), but this is the first time since her new single status.
Which means this is the first time since forever — fine, since October — that Harry has a chance of actually asking her out.
But since the Great Hall at breakfast — and with her brother sitting just a few seats away — isn’t the best place for it, Harry just coughs, hoping to not look that much guilty.
“My fault?”
“Oh, yeah.” She extends her hand to grab the toasts in front of Harry, oblivious to how her hand brushes his arm. “Apparently we have been secretly in love since last year.”
His heart skips a beat even as his eyes sweep guiltily over to where Ron is sitting, still oblivious to them.
“No one told me about it,” he murmurs. Things would have been easier if this was true.
Ginny’s head snaps up to watch him; it’s difficult to keep her gaze when she is so close and her eyes are shining with mischief.
“Oh, Harry, how did you not realize we've been dating for over a year now?”
She laughs and because he cannot resist it, no matter how much his heart aches for her words to became true, Harry joins her; and because the universe knows that Harry Potter cannot have a moment of peace, this is the moment that Ron decides to notice their interaction.
“Who are you dating?” He asks, brows already furrowed, glaring at his sister.
Ginny rolls her eyes, tossing back her hair and shifting in her seat; Harry can’t help but notice that this movement creates a rift between them that wasn’t there before.
“It depends on who you ask,” Ginny says dignifiedly. “Apparently people cannot break up a relationship unless they are in love with someone else.”
“So you are—”
“I’m single, that’s what I am.”
Ron’s eyes meet Harry’s for a brief second before Harry decides that his plate needs his full attention.
“You could fancy someone else, come on, someone better—”
“What about you?” Ginny asks suddenly. A quick glance at her direction shows Harry that she looks flustered. “How is your bachelor life? A new love interest on the horizon? How about—oh, good morning, Hermione!”
Harry looks up again. Ginny gives Hermione her brightest smile before turning her eyes to Ron; there’s a silent battle between them, something that Harry decides he wants no part of, and he just shrugs when Hermione throws him a questioning look.
And then Ginny and Ron are suddenly fine.
“Anyway,” Ginny says calmly as if nothing has happened, just as Ron turns to Hermione. “It’s not really a rumor, don’t worry.”
“I wasn’t… worried.”
Ginny gives him a sympathetic look. “I know you don’t like when people talk about you. And there’s been some gossip about the break up, but… no one mentioned your nome at all, that was just Luna mixing things.”
“Luna?”
“Yeah.” A pink flush colours her cheeks. “When I told her I wasn’t dating Dean anymore she said she was glad you and I had finally decided to declare our feelings for each other.” It takes a beat longer than necessary before Ginny shakes her head at him, clearly intending it as a joke.
Harry breathes slowly. Luna always saw better than anyone he ever knew, but if only she was right on both sides this time… “That’s Luna,” he mumbles. And because he doesn’t want to be questioned about Luna’s usual brightness, he adds: “Gossip is bothering you?”
“It’s just Hogwarts, soon this will be old news.” She sighs, standing up and gathering her things. “I don’t know why people are even interested in who I am dating, honestly.”
Harry blinks, looking around with sudden mistrust. The fact that Ginny is single now has been very well registered into his brain — and heart — but only now he realizes that everyone else knows it too. And he is not, by any chance, the only one that might be smitten with her, that might realize how funny and gorgeous and charming she is… If someone else asks her out first, if someone else is smarter — and braver — than him…
“Ginny—” He calls, suddenly desperate; she turns back to him at the same time Ron lets out a laugh about something Hermione is saying, and then Harry's courage falters him. “See you later at practice?”
Her lips twitch, amused. “It’s Monday, Harry, we have no practice today.”
“We—we should. I mean, Katie is back and the final match is coming—” He glances at the books on her hand. “If you can, of course.”
“You are really asking me to choose between my education and a few hours outside?” Ginny grins at him. “You are the worst influence, Harry.”
He has to smile. “Considering you grew up with Fred and George, I doubt it.”
Her eyes widen for a brief moment before Ginny laughs. It’s not possible with all the morning talks around them, but he swears he can hear every note of her laugh, can separate the bells of her voice from every other sound in the hall.
His heart beats in tune with her laugh.
“You are right." She admits. "See you later.”
And Ginny winks at him. Harry watches her go, lips trembling with the unsaid things he wants to tell her, and then —
“Oh, damn it,” he curses, picking up his things, and ignoring Hermione’s knowing look (she could team up with Luna, Harry thinks grimly). “I need to go schedule the field for practice tonight!”

sometimes I just get Ginny feels and need to scream about it
ginny:
was possessed by lord voldemort’s soul for an entire year and managed to fight back enough to escape the diary’s hold
managed to throw the diary away only to steal it back because she didn’t want to subject anyone else to its spell
survived possession by lord voldemort
like what harry couldn’t manage it for like ten minutes in book five ginny managed a whole year okay can we just
is the proof that you can recover from trauma and are allowed to be happy after experiencing hell
isn’t defined by her past with tom riddle
wears flowery perfume and paints her room pink because she grew up with boys godammit let her be girly and pink
at the same time, is good at sports and kicks ass
is kind to luna and gets to know her before any else bothers to
stands up for neville who cripples under low self-esteem
stands up for harry when draco teases him about his fame, proving that ginny at 11 has outgrown her star-struck crush on harry and sees him for who he is
doesn’t put up with fleur’s snooty crap when she looks down on ginny’s family’s country life
doesn’t put up with hermione’s crap when she uses quidditch to emotionally manipulate harry, even though hermione and ginny are friends
doesn’t put up with harry’s screw the world angry crap either
seeing a pattern here?
here’s more:
stands up for herself when ron slut-shames her for kissing her boyfriend of months in a deserted corridor
doesn’t appreciate ron’s hypocrisy when it comes to public display of affection
for some reason is called a slut by fandom because she dated michael for a year, dean for another year, and then married her third boyfriend….
even if she was doing the whole taylor swift thing, that is no reason to slut shame her
at least she liked michael and dean for a while and tried hard to make their relationship work, unlike hermione who got with mclaggen only to make ron jealous
i love book!hermione okay but girl is cray sometimes
shares harry’s sense of humour
is harry’s “best source of comfort”
doesn’t argue or make things more difficult for harry when he breaks up with her because they understand each other perfectly, this isn’t about them, it’s about the war
the day ginny is taken into the chamber is the worst day of harry’s life
and this boy grew up in a cupboard
kid is twelve and describes her as “glowing like the setting sun”
harry my sweet perfect child you have no idea how bad you’ve got it
makes harry laugh when no one else can, makes harry calm down when no one else can
once she is with harry, doesn’t get trapped in some ‘you’re not like other girls’ trope
is honest and straight forward with harry about her feelings
harry’s too emotionally stunted for hermione and cho’s passive aggressive crap
war time harry and ginny is so classically romantic omg
harry watches her name on the maurauder’s map nightly while he’s away on the front line
she’s back at hogwarts doing her fight because dammit she will help the war even if she’s underage
is the last thought harry has before dying
literally is harry’s dying thought
has a career and a family and no one thinks that’s weird
i bet she cursed rita skeeter when skeeter asked her if she was a bad mum for working or if she resent her kids for interfering with her career or some familiar crap
come on she played pro quidditch harry’s definitely swooning at that
cursed child is a huge freaking mess, but through about half a dozen different alternate realities, ginny and harry are together in everysingle one
can you say otp?
is still harry’s best source of comfort in the mess that is cursed child
