In this AU, Ladybug and Chat Noir Are allowed to know each other’s identities because it’s easier and makes the job more simplified

“Marinette! Your alarm’s been going off for the past fifteen minutes! You’re going to be late!”
13-year old Marinette Dupain-Cheng rolled out from under the covers of her very comfortable bed, groaning as she heard the all too familiar voice of her mother, Sabine. “Ugh...I’m coming, mom!” The bluenette crawled out from her comfy blanket prison, quickly brushing her dark hair and putting it into pigtails as she normally did before going downstairs to see her parents already there, cheery as ever. The teenager sighed, walking down with her bag and phone in hand, giving her mother a bittersweet look. “I bet you 45 euros that Chloé’s in my class AGAIN.” Sabine looked at her daughter with a raised eyebrow. “4 years in a row? I don’t think that’s possible.” “Oh, it’s possible.” A sweet, delicate but joking voice interrupted the conversation between the two women. Marinette and Sabine looked out at the door to see none other than Adrien Agreste, Marinette’s best friend for the past six years, walking into the bakery.
“Adrien! How are you, sweetie?” Sabine greeted, kind as ever. The boy smiled, giggling a bit as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Good, Sabine. I...actually came out to my father this summer..!”
And with that, the entire bakery fell silent. Sabine stopped decorating cookies, Marinette’s jaw dropped, and even Tom dropped the plate of macarons, making the glass plate shatter into a million pieces. “What?!” Sabine whisper yelled. The whole Dupain-Cheng family knew how much Adrien suspected his father of being homophobic. I mean, he never caught him saying homophobic things, but it was implied through all of his actions. Adrien just nodded before awkwardly chuckling. “Yeah...he’s...actually /really/ accepting!” The blonde flashed a smile, causing Marinette to squeal and hug her best friend. “Eeee! Oh my god, that’s amazing! Hey, you didn’t get a boyfriend while you were at it, did you?” Adrien giggled. “No, no of course not. How can I? Father never lets me leave the house.” Marinette gave a frown. “Well, that’s-” As soon as a bell on the counter sounded, Tom gave a quick chuckle. “Alright, you two. That’s enough of that. Now, off to school with you two.” “Bye, Dad! Bye, Mom!” “Bye Sabine, bye Tom!”
*walking down the street to school*
“I never thought he’d actually accept you...” “Yeah, me neither but...here we are, I guess.” Adrien chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “I just...I just wish he’d actually take it seriously...” Marinette raised an eyebrow just as they were about to cross the road. “What do you mea-” “Mari, watch out!”
Adrien quickly pulled Marinette out of the way of ongoing traffic just as a car sped a red light. The shorter of the two blinked several times, wanting to make sure she was seeing things right. “Geez, that was close...Mari, you gotta be more careful!” The blonde scolded his best friend, frowning as the bluenette chuckled. “Yeah, sorry! I’m a klutz...” “That has nothing to do with-” “Wait-” Marinette put a finger to Adrien’s lips, making the blonde sigh. “Mari, what are you-” “Shush!” Marinette covered Adrien’s mouth, pulling the two of them behind a nearby dumpster. Something about the situation didn’t seem right... the sudden car speeding past a red light, the tense air, something wasn’t right.
And Marinette’s suspicions were correct. Soon after the two were hidden, a small, frail looking old man walked out of seemingly no where, looking lost and confused as he walked in the middle of the street...when two rough looking teenage boys approached him. “What’s going on?!” “ADRIEN, SHUT UP!”
The pair looked towards the scene, analyzing every aspect before taking action. One of the teenage boys pulled out a pair of scissors; a strange weapon of choice, but enough to startle the man. And it did! The old man jumped, looking around. “..Who are you?” “Cut the crap old man!” Adrien gasped at the language, causing Marinette to stifle her laughter and instead focus on the violence about to unload.
“Give us your money or YOU get it!” Another boy demanded. The old man frowned. “Oh, I’m afraid I don’t have any..” “Hmm...have it your way!” Marinette gasped. She couldn’t just let this happen! Yes, she was a disaster bisexual, but she couldn’t just stand by and let this happen to an innocent elder! She jumped up from her hiding place, putting herself between the attacker and the man, causing the boy to stumble back and giving Adrien a chance to find a weapon; a rock by the dumpster they were hiding by.
While Marinette was distracting the boy, Adrien took the chance to hit the other attacker in the head; not hard enough to hurt him a lot, but hard enough for him to pass out. He then did the same to the other boy, making Marinette sigh in relief.
The old man’s jaw dropped in awe, amazed at how two 13-year olds had just managed to take down two attackers. “Oh my...thank you so much! And to you do I owe this dept of gratitude?” Marinette smiled. “No need to thank us, sir. We were just helping you!” “No, I insist I-” Adrien sucked some air in between his teeth. “Uh, I honestly hate to interrupt but..we’re going to be late if we stay any longer.” The man’s eyes widened. “Oh- Oh! Of course! So sorry to have kept you waiting! I- wait, what’s that?” The man pointed off in the distance, causing the two younger people to look off, wondering what it was. The man took this opportunity to sneak in two boxes: one into Marinette’s bag, and one into Adrien’s. “Oh..nothing. It must’ve been my old mind playing tricks on poor old me. I’ll let you two be off.”
“It was nice meeting you, sir!” “Be safe!”
