"But not all of earths visitors were lucky, and those who landed in the toxic waste humans left behind, became something worse. Mutant Acroyear..."
Combining Membros, it's concept art, and Robo-Forces unreleased villain figure Nazgar for a fun 3D printable figure. Now includes an extra "Skeleton King" head!
Giant Acroyear! I have been working on this project for a little while now, and am finally ready to show off some progress. If I had to pick one aspect of Takara’s SFLand theme as my favorite, it would be the Henshin Cyborg line. I am a huge 1/6 scale figure collector and love the classic, early ‘70’s sci-fi stylings of the Cyborg stuff. I also love robots, and the Acroyear I from the Microman line is a good fuckin’ robot. I love the vintage Acroyear toys, but they can be a little fiddly and have some limitations to their articulation. With that in mind, I wanted to see if I could re-imagine the Acroyear as a villain in the Henshin Cyborg line, complete with enhanced articulation and swappable hand weapons. I’m pretty happy with the results so far. There’s still some tweaks to be made, but the basic idea is there and my current prototype is a ton of fun to play with. More soon!
Earlier this year, the classic toy fan blog Fanmode.Net shared a deep dive into the fascinating information presented about Takara's history with its continued original SF Land properties from the late 80s onward in the incredible "Takara SF Land Evolution" book. With tons of material translated or summarized, this is an extremely worthwhile read on its own or a particularly handy piece to have in hand while browsing the book itself. Many cancelled or redeveloped toylines are covered and several surprising insights are revealed. Don't miss this one!
