I think the anime contributes alot to Kakashi's flanderisation. During the beginning of the chunin exams in the anime he's the one that ends uo convincing team 7 to enter them through 'trials' to ensure their abilities were up to standard. He's also the one that encourages Sakura to enter. Compared to the manga which he has no part in this influence, all of team 7 enter for their own individual reasons.

Sasuke's is so he can fight those he views as the same level as him ( Gaara being the most potent one in this scenario as he's thinking of him during this sequence) and naruto is obviously yk naruto and he just wants to prove he's better than everyone so he can be viewed in a positive light by the public to influence his pathway to being the hokage.

But Sakura's is far different, she's terrified and views herself as inferior to her peers. So far she doesn't have any standout moments with her skills as a shinobi; unless you count her saving Naruto from Zabuza's first attack. Sasuke manages to sense this through how Sakura is acting off and reassures her that she is meant to be here with them. Even if her taijutsu and ninjutsu isn't as impressive as her teammates her intellect makes her stand out against them, along with her observation skills ( the second floor being under genjutsu )

Personally, I prefer the manga's version of this as it points out and demonstrates the values of team 7 and how they view themselves within the team and as shinobi. The chunin exams in general give us these moments due to kakashi's absence along with the fact that sakura and sasuke get to interact as individuals without naruto present
