buh-bye, south carolina!

listening to the soundtrack for kiki's delivery service as i pack my car for tuesday (i leave for new orleans) and i just had a pretty wonderful realization. I AM KIKI, FISH (my dog) IS MY GIGI AND THIS IS MY BIG ADVENTURE.  hooray!  only i'm not a 12 year old witch with magical powers and no money (but i am a 24 year old who eats fire and has very little money).

i move to new orleans in three days. i should be packing, but caaaaats.

hey, y'all, it's unpopular opinion time! so many people i know getting pregnant and having babies. so many conflicted feels. a nice, confusing mixture of "AWWWW CHILDREN ARE SO SWEET AND BEAUTIFUL" and "WHAT ARE YOU DOING NO STOP POLLUTING THE WORLD WITH MORE PEOPLE". on one hand, i feel happy and proud of my friends and am even feeling that terrifying maternal tug myself, more and more lately. on the other hand, i know i could never have a baby and be "doing my part" for the environment just as much (if not more) than someone who recycles and drives a hybrid car for the majority of their lives. i wish i had a way to think about this that didn't make me feel so panicky and conflicted. and to my friends who already have kids, i love you. please, just raise your spawn to be amazing and considerate of our world. that's all you can do. those of you who are actively trying to reproduce. just cool your jets for a sec and think about it. like, really, seriously think about it.
