The battle begins inside the pharmacies
Angeles City - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region Central Luzon discovered that some pharmacies in the region are illegally dispensing narcotics to the public.
The said agency managed to raid simultaneously on four pharmacies after reportedly selling dangerous drugs specifically Diazepam and Nalbuphine Hydrochloride, without medical prescription. The said drugs can cause central nervous system depression that can lead to serious side effects including respiratory distress, coma, and even death.
PDEA Central Luzon Director Joseph Ladip said that pharmacies dispensing the said drugs must secure a permit from PDEA.
Ladip warned the pharmacy owners since the agency will continue to monitor their businesses engaging in such activities.
He also highlighted the dispersion of the said drugs is similar to selling of marijuana and shabu which is punished to life imprisonment.

Pampanga: Home of the Giants
Last time I rode the bus home and observed what they claim to be the tallest and the biggest ferris wheel in the country, just behind the longest mall as they brand it, I was able to introspect a lot; mostly about why are these in Pampanga and not somewhere else. Although it rings a bell when they say Kapampangans indulge in luxury and grandiosity, I still like to think there's so much more.
More will I see if I dare to look. During these times, I like sitting beside large windows, it's my usual spot with my earphones plugged in, volume: max. I would start peeping thru the window as soon as the bus makes it 270° turn after exiting the expressway. Then I would know I'm in City of San Fernando. The more I could tell when it's December, when I get to meet colorful display of lanterns along the way, surely communicating the season of Christmas as much as the rich culture of the city.
City of San Fernando has been dubbed as the Christmas capital of the Philippines. Every year, it hosts the famous Ligligan Parul where locals represent their respective barangays to compete in a giant lantern making contest. This tradition has been practiced from generations to generations until it's an industry already. As early as highschool, students are trained to learn the art of parol-making. The process, from planning to executing these manually operated enourmous lanterns, requires passion more than hardwork. It goes to show the artistry and craftsmanship of Fernandinos. It has become a way to support lives, give a show, and make us all proud.
Last December 4, 2017 the biggest ferris wheel was turned into the biggest lantern of hope during a Grand Pyro Musical Show organized in the longest mall as a tribute to Pampanga's lantern industry. On December 17, 2017 City of San Fernando staged yet another spectacular display of the giant lanterns accompanied with music as Ligligan Parul ignited the festive spirit of Kapampangans once more.
Thirty minutes later or after nine songs on my playlist, my body still pressed against the window, the bus gets to pass thru lamp posts erected along Concepcion, occupying 500 meters of the highway. It's my signal to bring out my phone and inform my dad to fetch me. At last, I'm in Lubao.
Unlike San Fernando, Lubao is a small town located in the edge of Pampanga just before reaching Bataan. It's the cradle of some of the most prominent politicians this country has and had - former president and now district 2 congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Governor Lilia Pineda, and the 'poor boy from Lubao', former President Diosdado Macapagal, just to name a few.
But aside from its people, Lubao has also been a go-to place for people, both locals and foreigners, during summer. For six years now, the town has been hosting the International Hot Air Balloon Festival which is the biggest in South East Asia. I could still remember from a recent memory, just right in front our house, it was like a scene extracted from the film Wizard of Oz, for the first time in my life I saw a live hot air balloon, breathing fire, making it possible to fly.
On March 23-25 2018, giant balloons shall take off again in the land of Prado Siongco in Lubao. There is morning balloon flight, aerial exhibition, night glow, fireworks, music festival, and a lot more to see and enjoy.
As we pass the rice fields, now riding my dad's motorcycle, I felt home again. Pampanga is everything that they say, but so much more. Just like the way I see it, it's the home of the giants.
