“Are you sure about this?” Illinois dangled from the wrought-iron gate, half-prepared to pull himself up and over, half-ready to drop and run if the guards caught on to what they were doing.
“Yeah!” Yancy stood on the other side of the gate, inside the prison walls. His white-toothed grin made Illinois feel more confident than he was, and the white stripes on his prison jumpsuit seemed to glow in the late night dark. “Youse can meet my folks. Themses good people, even if they stab sometimes.”
“Will they stab me?” Illinois finally steeled himself and hauled himself up and over, carefully avoiding the sharp spines lining the top of the gate. He thunked to the ground beside Yancy, knees bent, perfect form.
Yancy clapped him on the back. “Not with me, theyse won’t! I’ve got youse. Youses safe with me.”
Illinois smiled. It was a genuine Illinois smile, not the charming debonair grin he occasionally flashed for cameras or newspapers. He leaned over and pressed a chaste kiss to Yancy’s lips. “Let’s go then,” he said, and started toward the prison, letting Yancy lose his composure in private.

as a huge lover of birds, 90% of the concern against wind turbines being used for energy is literally just pro fossil fuel propaganda. birds ARE at a risk however there is a lot of strategies even as simple as painting one of the blades that reduces a lot of accidental deaths. additionally renewable energy sources will do more in favor of the environment that would positively impact birds (and all of us). one study found over one million bird deaths from wind turbines. while that is a shockingly high number and we should work to drastically shrink it, at least 1.3 billion birds die to outdoor cats on a yearly basis. it was never about caring about birds

i headcanon that Actor's movies from his time of fame are basically lost media. like, some amount of people knows they existed, but since around WWII, no one has seen them.
and Actor's chilling, owning a copy of every one of his movies, owning copies on anything possible. he has the original tapes, he has them copied to vhs, to cds, digital etc. he's not gonna share tho, why would he? the plebs don't deserve to see his glory.

Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.

Floorplanner. Design and furnish a house for you to use for having a consistent background in your comic or anything! Free, you need an account, easy to use, and you can save multiple houses.
Comparing Heights. Input the heights of characters to see what the different is between them. Great for keeping consistency. Free.
Magma. Draw online with friends in real time. Great for practice or hanging out. Free, paid plan available, account preferred.
Smithsonian Open Access. Loads of free images. Free.
SketchDaily. Lots of pose references, massive library, is set on a timer so you can practice quick figure drawing. Free.
SculptGL. A sculpting tool which I am yet to master, but you should be able to make whatever 3d object you like with it. free.
Pexels. Free stock images. And the search engine is actually pretty good at pulling up what you want.
Figurosity. Great pose references, diverse body types, lots of "how to draw" videos directly on the site, the models are 3d and you can rotate the angle, but you can't make custom poses or edit body proportions. Free, account option, paid plans available.
Line of Action. More drawing references, this one also has a focus on expressions, hands/feet, animals, landscapes. Free.
Animal Photo. You pose a 3d skull model and select an animal species, and they give you a bunch of photo references for that animal at that angle. Super handy. Free.
Height Weight Chart. You ever see an OC listed as having a certain weight but then they look Wildly different than the number suggests? Well here's a site to avoid that! It shows real people at different weights and heights to give you a better idea of what these abstract numbers all look like. Free to use.
