I wish there weren't a couple of plays I find tough to watch because of noise from the audience (not their fault by the way, it's mostly just people laughing and I'm sure they weren't thinking about whether they could be heard on camera above everyone else - it's my inability to tune them out that's the problem)

I'm biting my tongue so hard not to reply to something I saw someone comment because I'm aware I'll probably just look like an arsehole. But I am correct.

Someone on reddit recently asked how to give their American partner a proper UK experience while he was visiting. So obviously everyone was giving jokey answers.
One person said sitting in a car on a clifftop, looking out at the grey sky as it rains, with a flask of tea and sandwiches pretending your holiday isn't ruined (or something to that effect), I guess meaning for it to sound awful. And I (and at least a few other people) was like...that sounds quite nice actually.
Anyway would love to be sat in a car in the rain with a nice view and a flask of tea. In the passenger seat, obvs. I can't drive.

Something that has still really stuck with me about Ghosts long after watching it is just how healthy Alison and Mike's relationship is... That was the first time I saw a couple in media I consume that I thought had a genuinely healthy relationship and it is still shocking.
Tumblr media
Part of what made Ghosts for me was Alison and Mike's relationship. If they had been written to be a couple that fights over money, are constantly at each other's throats about house renovations, and the setbacks they face it would have made them unbearable to watch.
I genuinely felt a connection to them and I love their relationship as characters. Alison and Mike struggling to start out felt so relatable, instead of them both having pre-established careers and stable lives. I loved the messiness and chaotic nature of their lives and seeing them grow as people. Alison and Mike had their conflicts but in the end, they always worked it out! The only real times they had any genuine fights that I can recall were when Mike almost got blown up by a literal prototype mine (honestly valid- I would have been mad too king-) and over Bear Grills. Even then their fights did not end in tears or saying regrettable things or worse coming to blows, they handled it in a very healthy way.
Mike cares so much about Alison and is so supportive of her, her dreams, and her weird ghost things. Mike genuinely puts up with so much from the ghosts for not even being able to see them and can hardly interact with them. He would get annoyed at times and rightfully so but he would never be extremely resentful or hateful to Alison for the ghost's behaviors.
They are genuinely the best couple I have seen in media, granted I don't watch much but STILL.
IDK where this ramble came from but they linger in my head quite a lot.

I just saw a thing on glassdoor of someone complaining that they weren't offered a role because they came across too confident.
On the one hand, I am a little sympathetic. On the other hand...welcome to the world of people who aren't confident but have to pretend to be all the time.

I'm gonna say something controversial.
Saying "you sound mad so I'm not listening to you" is tone policing. Saying "could you please not call me a cunt" isn't.

What have I done? I was cleaning yesterday and suddenly felt a sharp pain, had to stop using my hand for a bit. Then noticed this evening it's bruised even though it doesn't really hurt anymore.
Have I sprained something by scrubbing with a sponge?

Ah I think I might have scared off a potential client by quoting too high. To be fair, I asked them what kind of budget they had in mind and they didn't really give me a real answer except to say they'd seen my rates on my website, which say starting from 拢100 per page.
They want "our story", about us/philosophy, why choose our brand, mission statement and vision statement and I quoted the equivalent of two days' work. Considering they're starting from scratch so I would basically be developing their brand voice, and they want it to be SEOed I was thinking that's not too crazy but now I'm wondering if it's like twice as much as they expected or they thought all that would be one "page". I mean I've done probably about an hour's work for them already and I haven't even done anything yet.
I did say we could work something out if they have a smaller budget so I'm happy to like...put limits on how much copy there is or something. But it's a bit late to backtrack on how much I quoted now so I guess I'll have to wait and see if they ghost me.
Turning negative stress into slightly more positive stress. Two potential new clients (although I don't like that the process for one is like a job application - I won't be your employee and would really rather not write a free sample for you... but the rate is somewhat decent, by which I mean it's like the minimum I want to earn, and it's a recognisable name so would be good to have in my portfolio) and an initial chat (read: interview) for a full-time position scheduled. I'm hesitant to become employed but it's actually a subject I'd enjoy writing about (food), it's remote, it could be more stability and I asked for a salary I'd be comfortable with. Although I have zero confidence I'll get it and I'm not sure I'll take it. Depends what happens with other work in the meantime.
Whatever happens, it's at least given me a bit of a confidence boost that people are interested enough to shortlist me. I had two other bites for jobs, though I decided I'm not really interested due to them being hybrid and requiring a commute. No longer completely spiralling about finding another career but not knowing what.
Still got other things to be stressed about but hey ho. Hasn't magically solved my money concerns yet but I didn't have a terrible week earnings wise.

I've been vaguely contemplating a 25+/30+ discord server for SFTH. I am quite lazy though so I don't know if I'll ever do it. (Also probably no time/energy right now because you know...I'm over 30)
This is probably the wrong place to ask but would there be any interest in it? Not as an alternative to the "main" one, just like an additional option for those who feel real fucking old when they look at the other one.
Alternatively if one already exists, I'd love to know.

In terms of the cutting, I should say, Nick... Well, you're only allowed to cut a certain number. He snipped one and then put a plaster on it and so argued that he could then cut another one off.
