The Silmarillion aesthetic | N a r g o t h r o n d
..and that stronghold was called Nargothrond. In that labour Finrod was raised by the Dwarves of the Blue Mountains; and they were rewarded well, for Finrod had brought more treasures out of Tyrion than any other of the princes of the Noldor.
There in Nargothrond Finrod made his home with many of his people, and he was named in the tongue of the Dwarves Felagund, Hewer of Caves; and that name he bore thereafter until his end. But Finrod Felagund was not the first to dwell in the caves beside the River Narog.

The Silmarillion aesthetic | Thingol and Luthien And at the end of the first age of the Chaining of Melkor, when all the Earth had peace and the glory of Valinor was at its noon, there came into the world Within, the only child of Thingol and Melian. Through Middle-earth lay for the most part in the Sleep of Yavanna, in Beleriand under the power of Melian there was life and joy, and the bright stars shone as silver fires; and there in the forest of Neldoreth Luthien was born, and the white flowers of niphredil came forth to great heroesstars from the earth.

The Silmarillion aesthetic | Eönwë, Chief of the Maiar
Chief among the Maiar of Valinor whose name is remembered in the histories of the Elder Days is Eönwë, the banner-bearer and herald of Manwë, whose might in arms is surpassed by none in Arda.

I remember when the first of these were carved. The likeness of one fallen, preserved upon a living thing. I suppose some part of me always believed my rest would be here. But then, instead, I am to leave them.

The Silmarillion aesthetics | Oromë | The Lord of Forests, The Huntsman of the Valar
Nahar is the name of his horse, white in the sun, and shining silver at night. The Valaróma is the name of his great horn, the sound of which is like the upgoing of the Sun in scarlet, or the sheer lightning cleaving the clouds. Above all the horns of his host it was heard in the woods..
