I think the use of omega verse instead of anything else here is telling. All things considered, omegaverse is relatively mild as far as content hosted on ao3 goes. It’s not incest, rape, necrofilia, pedofilia or beastiality. It’s just weird gender fuckery, with some slightly misygonistic undertones (which is just my read, you don’t have to agree). But the people who want to limit what ao3 hosts, they literally don’t want anything except maybe the most vanilla, “sign consent forms before sex, and then do it missionary in the dark” level smut. So they’ll say to get rid of all the stuff I said. And then bdsm and any kind of play, because it feeds into nonstandard power dynamics. And then furries and omegaverse because it’s icky. And finally after all that, there will still be a bunch who want to ban any kind of queer content.

This is part of why defenders of ao3, even if they’re not particularly interested in the most extreme smut don’t want to ban any of this stuff. There’s other reasons too.

And I’m not exaggerating. This is literally part of why ao3 exists.
