I'm still making masks, finished a bunch for people at work. I know I've promised some folks masks that I haven't delivered but I'm also reaffirning to myself that I'm not a "production sewer". It probably takes me twice as long (or more) to make a mask, even in batch mode, than your average home sewer. I've come to accept that it's in my nature. I'm slow and methodical even when a task doesn't require it. I've spent years trying to change that but it's just who I am. Honestly, I've been pretty stressed out lately. Through everything, I've pretty much been working, making masks, or paralyzed by stress and having my schedule turned upside down. I will continue making masks at my pace. I wish I could do more. I'm thankful for those who can make more, those who have been donating to hospitals and other first line essential personnel. My part is a small contribution to a few folks at work and some friends. I've learned, of myself, that I'm not one who excels in anyone area, any skill, any physical or mental task or challenge. When judged next to peers of equal experience, I seldom stand out. This is just who I am. I do, however, excel at things by pure effort, passion, and dedication. People compliment me on my various talents. I tell you now, anything I do well, I only do well because I've worked my ass off for it. I've taken 1,233 classes at Rockstar in 3 years and 3 months, not including private lessons. When I was in fashion school, I did well only because I put incredible amounts of time into projects. I will never be fast. I will probably never perform better than the average person who's put equal time into a task.
