I read hiding behind (my crumbling walls) by @jupitersthirdstar because I’ve been meaning to for like 7 or 8 months now??? It has everything I like: asexual Dream, DNF, BadBoyHalo + Dream friendship, a touching plot line about mental health… I just kept putting it off lol. But I’m so glad I finally read it! It’s sooo good, I felt for Dream so much <3

Today, I recommend The Canary's Song by talon_wings. A good Limited Life one-shot about Jimmy's final death.

I completely missed @mcytfanfictionappreciationweek but I want to give some fanfic recs anyway ✨
…also ignore how most of these include flower husbands (and specifically include Scott) lol I’m aware I have a type but there are some that aren’t specifically flower husbands related I swear
^ very longfic flower ranchers slow burn mostly during a fancreated game after double life; emotionally destroyed me in the best ways with happy ending
^ same author as above but Scott finds out he’s part siren and his boyfriends (Tango and Jimmy) try to help him get over the insecurity he developed about them only liking him because he’s charmed them
^ dead dove flower husbands superpowers series can be hard to read specifically because of the topic at hand but is written well and spoilers has happy ending and we’re getting oneshots of what happens post the big bad event and it’s adorable and worth it
^ amnesiac Jimmy shows up at Rivendell
^ FANTASTIC EVENTUAL FLOWER HUSBANDS ? the writing quality and worldbuilding is fantastic I love it so much it’s going over their lives from children up and it’s so beautiful
^ snowbugs with amazing worldbuilding so far! Tango is a Mythlander prince with his siblings being Sausage, Fwhip, and Gem- I believe it’s going to be eventual flower husbands?? but is set up to be longfics with multiple stories from what I can tell
^ been awhile since I read this but if you like roseblings I remember really liking it
^ flower husbands arranged marriage au with a bunch of characters from other things like the life/hermitcraft sphere being extra siblings and citizens to the characters in empires SMP my friend actually is writing this one hi friend
I need to get better about bookmarks or subscribing to things I really like so I can give recs easier 😭

I missed a day (in my timezone) but I still want to do this. So, today, I recommend Go Full Circle Then Go Again by InatelyCrow. Their Impulse-centric 3rd life time loop story is very fun. It's still being updated and it's extremely interesting to see the different outcomes.

I read Fine Line by dangergranger (@rebelwithoutabroom)! It's a tattoo parlor + flower shop AU, and I loved seeing dnf from Techno's POV, very cute idea and so well written!

For this one, I've chosen a platonic relationship instead of a romantic one, because the latter not my cup of tea at all. Today, I recommend Red Herring by Snalzhttps - a one-shot that has some nice friendly interaction between xbCrafted and Joe Hills.

as an mcyt fanfic writer, i'm so happy about this event. even if i'm not getting any shoutouts, i'm still really glad people are appreciating the writing side of the community more! i feel like people see fics as, idk less than art? like it's such a struggle to have your writing be noticed much less interacted with sigh. but i just wanted to say thank you for putting this together and thank you to everyone who's participating
(Sorry this response was late! I needed to wait for an evening where my brain wasn't so depleted XD)
But I agree 100%! So many fic writers don't get their flowers, especially in this fandom where we have a history of being hyper-critical of the kinds of fics that get written. And that also leads to a cycle of readers being intimidated out of interacting with with wrong kinds of fics. (I don't want to open up any specific cans of discourse, but I think it's fair to say that there are many works that were deemed 'off-limits' for arbitrary reasons that wouldn't have been an issue in any other fandom). There's also a stronger focus on viewing artists as 'content providers' rather than peers, which diminishes the kind of reader-writer interaction that fandom thrives off of. But I think we if come together and make an effort in building stronger community bonds we can overcome this and make this fandom a nicer place to be (and that's also why I decided to make this MCYTblr-wide!).
I've got a huge backlog of works that I need to read and shower in love and doing something like this where it's like a group read along is so helpful to push me out of the procrastination ;)

I spent so long trying to figure out what to read for today, but eventually decided I wanted to find an old Manhunt AU fic. So I read Sheep in Wolf's Clothing by shinlouvie, which was written all the way back in 2020! The angst is soooo angsty, I love it.

I read in the ashes by luna_eclipse_writes (@milktearosethorn) because I wanted to read a f/f ship for this day, since like pretty much all of them have less than 500 tagged works. I'll admit I haven't read any tinarose before but this was such a good story, the angst was angsting and the end was so sweet <3

Underrated Blorbos: Read and comment on a fic centered on a character of whom you’ve never read as a main POV.
I decided to read something with Hannah as the main POV, and stumbled across a recently published fic that absolutely blew me away. The fic is "cool about it" by firebugs (they don't have any social media linked), and it's a really delicate and respectful look at Hannah coming into herself and learning to be proud of her sexuality, and man. It was just really nice to read. I related to her sooooo much <3

Oh this looks fun, time to boost @Pyrriax for their delightful work!
They write some really thought provoking fiction for several servers, that always leaves me in a deep state of analyzing. Honestly sometimes after reading i have to pull myself away just to think and dig into its beauty like their words dig into my mind. It messes with you and really tears into your morals and heart to make you ask yourself things that you never thought you would've.
Im not sure if that makes sense now, but i'm sure it will for anyone who does read their work!
