sorry for the novel but i just have this thought of mikey and frank coming down with a stomach bug or something at the same time. like mikey probably gets it first and frank resigns himself to catching it and a few hours later he’s sick too. and gerard is trying to take care of them both but he’s getting run off of his feet and then oh god. he can feel a fever starting and he’s getting pale and sweaty and sick but he’s trying to keep it hidden so he can look after his brother and his “friend”
but then it’s finally too much and he gets sick e v e r y w h e r e
SORRY FOR LITERALLY DISAPPEARING OMG
but YES I love the idea of this so much. Because of course Gerard would want to care for their brother and Frank. And Frank is probably the one who notices Gerard is looking off - a little pale, a bit grey, sweat clinging behind their ears and against their palms. But it’s okay. They’re totally fine. It’s okay. They can get through this.
That works for just over three hours. Then Mikey is puking again and Gerard sprints over to help hold his hair back. But being so close to the sight, the sounds, the smells, prove to be all too much for them. They try to turn their head, lips pressed shut and teeth clenched hard, but nothing can stop the torrent of bile and stomach acid that is soon spouting from their nostrils and from between his closed mouth. They can tell it’s dripping down Mikey’s back because he’s squirming away, sobbing a little bit as he hovers over the trash can in his lap. Gerard feels terrible they’d ruined Mikey’s whole bed and really did not feel capable of doing anything about it.
There’s a hand on their shoulder, Gerard can barely catch their breath, but they look up all the same. Frank is standing in front of both of them, one hand on Mikey’s knee and the other on Gerard’s shoulder. He looked tired, wan and pale, but he smiled.
“I’ve got you, pumpkin.”

I’m finally putting my ridiculous knowledge of this topic to good use. This is in somewhat chronological order and I’ll update it if I remember more stuff. It’s also misc emeto and general sickness @frankiegirl @x-doom-and-gloom-x
- Fuse Interview (2004) “Me and Frank painted the set for vampires together one night, and we got so high from the paint fumes that we got really sick. We were up till the sun came up and we were like throwing up.” 3:13-3:28
- Fuse Interview (2004) “Early on I got Epstein-Barr Syndrome, so like, I had to sleep at least fourteen hours a day?” “It was sleep, soundcheck, play for Frank. He’s had it rough. I remember he would just straight up pass out in the van all day when we were back in the van. I remember he went to the doctors and he got that early on it was rough. There’s really just no way to fight off the cold. I’m sick right now, just coughing up this nasty stuff. What got me sick was Hawaii. I got terrible sick.” 0:18-0:55
- Life on the Murder Scene (2004) Just drunk Gerard puking. Fun trivia! I’m pretty certain the man beside Frank here is Matt Cortez, who replaced Frank for the encore of the Wembley performance which is further down this list.

- Emergency Plane Landing (2007) I’m so annoyed I can’t find a source for this right now, but I know it’s in one of the biographies. Frank had a wisdom tooth or sinus infection and started bleeding (iirc the source I’m thinking of says something about how his mouth literally erupted with blood) so they had to make an emergency stop. When he was in the hospital the doctors wouldn’t let Jamia see him because they weren’t legally related, and that’s why Frank proposed to her. As soon as I can track down the source for this I’ll add it.
- Wembley Stadium (2007) Frank playing laying down during FLW. You can see Worm waiting for him to come offstage. According to the comments he had food poisoning, which is in line with what Tom Bryant says in NTLIS.
- Wembley Stadium (2007) Gerard talking about why Frank left the stage.
- Food Poisoning (2007) Interview with Frank and Gerard talking about how they’d had to postpone some shows because of a food poisoning outbreak. The people who got sick were Ray & Bob (and presumably some crew members), as Mikey was still away on his honeymoon at this point.
- 969 Interview (2007) Frank and Ray talking about the food poisoning outbreak and a non-named time when Frank had a trash can onstage, possibly referring to the Wembley show.
- San Antonio (2007) No confirmation, but the comments say Frank’s sitting down here because he was feeling sick from how hot it was that day.
- Gerard actually puking onstage wow (2007) 2:10. Lots of commenters talking about how hot it was on prorev and how it might’ve been heat exhaustion.
- Fuse Interview (2008) Gerard talking about how easy it is to get sick on tour. 1:57-2:34. (Fuse is the gift that keeps on giving I swear). Something also worth noting about this interview is it takes place just before their MSG performance. In NTLIS Tom Bryant discusses how Frank’s anxiety issues were so bad at this point on the BP tour that he was on medication so strong he doesn’t remember that show.
- Manchester Arena (2011) Gerard checking Frank’s temperature. 1:57
- Misc Gerard on Twitter (2013) Gerard talking about how he likes watching people throw up and some other relevant stuff.
- Misc Twitter Vomit (2014) TW for actual vomit. Twitter exchange between Gee, Frank and Worm talking about someone (presumably Ray) throwing up on a ferry, with pictures. Tom Bryant talks about this ferry crossing in NTLIS but I don’t have my copy on hand so I can’t date/quote it.
- SYD Soundwave (2015) Gerard talking (in pretty great detail) about getting motion sick on the way to a show.
- Australia Show (2023) Gerard pretending to vomit onstage. I can’t be bothered to look up the exact show right now but I’ll add it when I can.
