LEFT AND RIGHT watchful, squinted eyes dart to ensure their utmost privacy during the transaction about to be made, because he really can’t afford for any witnesses to catch a whiff of these particular smuggled wares. Alfred is grateful for his oversized jacket then, as it’ll no doubt provide ample hiding space for the FORBIDDEN SNACKS ( except not really, but this whole exchange sure feels more exciting when approached that way ) he has little to no intentions of sharing. In a voice uncharacteristically hushed, his visiting brother is urged -- ❛ Alright, hurry, hand over the goods. ❜

All nations are made of duality: a mix of opposites, living paradoxes, contradictory beings that should not exist, but are there anyways. They are immortal, but made of people who are born and who die like everything else; they work for the government, the elite few that rule, yet their own opinions of the world are often those of the common masses; they are both their own individuals and the millions of people in their country all at once; they are made up of some strange combination of their land, their people, and the regime that manages it all.
So what are they? Personifications of the geography, personifications of their culture, of their nation? Are they shaped by their own people’s views of their nation, or based on outside perception? How are they created? How do they change? How do they die? How do they interact with the world; how do they shape it, how do they make it their own? How do they grow, live, work? What do they do; what do they spend their time on? Where do they come from, and where do they go?
Who are they?
