The Story of Rizzo Bonnet, The Smiling Dog.
Loguetown one of the biggest cities in the East Blue, also one of the hottest spots for tourist due to Gold Roger being born and executed there. Hundreds of people feel the streets, different shops and vendors everywhere the eye can see. The street are always so busy with people from all over the seas, shoulder to shoulder as you walk through every street. So many different things you can do in one place. You can grab a bit to eat at all different types of restaurants. You can shop at the many shops and vendors mentioned before, you can even see where Gold Roger was executed. Could you even imagine living in such a place like Loguetown? One person can, she has been living here her whole life.
A lonesome girl walks the back alleys of Loguetown. Her dyed black hair bounces as she continues to walk. A bored yet sad look on her face, she knows this alley all too well. The grip she had on her bag tightens as she recognizes where she is. She stops as she comes across a bright red door. She looks up at the door, wanting to reach out and grab the handle. She stops herself before she can touch it. This red door used to be the home she lived in when she was ten years old. So many memories and emotions hit her all at once.
A young girl wakes up in her warm bed, hearing soft cries coming from the living room. Worried and scared she didn’t know if she should get out of bed to see what happened. She stays there for a minute debating on what to do, but as the cries got louder, she made up her mind. She slowly makes her way across the hard wood floor into the room. There was her mother sitting on the couch with a letter in her hands. As the girl moved quietly across the floor, a floor bored creek. Her mother’s head shot up and looks at the young girl.
” Oh, my dear, Rizzo. I am sorry I awoke you so early.” Her mother says in a sad tone.
“It’s just your father and brother. Your father he… He took your brother to go find the One Piece.” Her mother starts to break into sobs.
“Mom, what do you mean. Did they really leave us?” The young Riz says
Riz’s mother hands her the letter, the girl shakes as she reads the letter her father left. Grey eyes fill with tears.  She couldn’t believe what she was reading.
Riz’s mother starts to cough hard for she has cancer. Riz was so sad with her father and brother gone, and not knowing how much time she will have with her mother. What would the young Rizzo do? What would she do with herself once her mother is gone too?
“Rizzo, my dear? Come here please?”
“What is it, mom?” Riz said with a soft yet sad tone.
“Just know even with them gone now and even when I go, we will always love you. You are the strong Rizzo Bonnet, and you will do amazing things.”
Rizzo started to cry; her life is falling apart in front of her eyes. What about the nights playing games as a family, or learning magic tricks with her father? Who is going to help her learn more acrobatics when her mother is gone? She fell to her knees crying, what was she going to do?
Snapping back to reality, Riz continues to move through the alley ways. She wipes the tears from her eyes, she cannot be crying now. She needs to get to her spot so she can perform and make some more berries. She moves to a new alley way; she remembers this alley way too. Oh, how her life change for the best that day in this alley.
A sixteen-year-old Rizzo digs through the trash cans in the alleys of Loguetown. She can’t help but to wrinkle her at the awful smell. Riz needed something to eat, and she will eat whatever she can get her hands on. As long as it wasn’t to terribly rotten, she sticks her hand into one of the many trash cans. She feels something interesting; she pulls it out and there it was, a fruit. A weird looking fruit, but a good looking one. Riz couldn’t help herself but to eat it as fast as she could. With her belly full, she left the alley and went on to the streets. Everyone was looking at her, she stops and look to her right and saw something that shook her. There she was in the window of a shop now sporting a pair of wild dog ears and a tail. Suddenly it hits her, she just ate a Devil Fruit. Not just any Devil Fruit but the dog dog fruit and by the looks of it, it’s a wild dog one.
Rizzo sighs at the memory of her finding her Devil Fruit, oh how grateful she is to have found it. It really has helped her performance a lot, why of course her magic tricks and acrobatics do bring in quite a bit of berries. Her having the dog dog fruit powers has made it even easier to get berries. She was even able to get a place of her own. Small place but it was better than her living on the streets or sleeping on roof tops. Riz makes her way to one of the busy shop streets, starting to get closer to her spot. How she wishes she could leave this town to find her father, brother, and a dear friend of hers. Speaking of her friend, she looks up at the very shop they meet at.
Rizzo was in her favorite spot to perform, one day when she was fourteen years old. She was doing magic tricks and acrobatics like she normally does. When out of nowhere she sees bright blonde hair walking by. Riz stops dead in her tracks, she starts to push through the crowd of people. The blonde hair belongs to a boy about her age, maybe a year or so younger than her. He stops at one of the shops looking at all kinds of fancy fish. She never had friends before but seeing this boy something was telling her she had to be his friend. She shyly walks up to the boy and taps his shoulder; he turns around looking her in the eyes. He had a bored and annoyed look in his eyes, once he sees who tapped his shoulder his facial expression changed. It went from bored and annoyed to love struck and hopelessly devoted. Riz’s pale face flushes a bright red, she couldn’t help but to find him cute. He than start speaking to her, she didn’t notice for it felt like time had stop around her.
“Why hello there, miss! How may I help you today!?” The boy said with a very upbeat tone.
“Will um… um will you be my friend?” Rizzo softly spoke.
“A pretty lady wants to be my friend!?”
“Um, yes… I never had friends before and I couldn’t help, but to think you looked neat.”
“Oh, so you think I’m neat, now do ya!?” He said with a cocky tone.
Riz’s blush grew stronger with every word he spoke; she didn’t know what to say. All she could mange to do was to put out her hand for him to shake. He took it and gently kissed the back of her hand. Rizzo didn’t think it was possible, but her face and ears are red as a tomato.
“The name is Sanji, and what’s your name lovely?” He said with a calmer tone than he had spoken with before.
“I’m Rizzo, Rizzo Bonnet but you can call me Riz for short.”
“Lovely meeting you, Riz. I would love to be your friend, but I won’t be visiting for long.” Sanji said and towards the end of his words his tone becomes sad.
“Oh… okay, it was nice to meet you then. Sorry for bugging you, have nice day…” Riz turned around and slowly starts walking away. Sanji grabs her arm and turns her back around.
“WAIT! You look hungry, let me make you something to eat before I must go.” He had such hope in his eyes, hoping she would take offer.
“Y-you want to cook me something?” Rizzo voice shook, she hadn’t had a home cooked meal since her mother passed away. Her stomach growled at the thought of fresh food.
“Why of course! A pretty lady like yourself should eat the finest of foods.” Sanji cocky tone once again returns.
“I- I would love some food, whatever you can make I’ll eat it. I love one thing and everything! Just um, no shellfish please, I’m very allergic.”
“I’m on it, did you want to take me to your place? So, I can get to cooking for you?” Sanji couldn’t help but to hope that he could go to Riz’s place to make her a delicious meal and maybe get a kiss for his kind action.
“Um, I don’t have a house. I um, live on the streets.” Riz felt ashamed and embarrassed. Sanji heart broke, how could such a beautiful lady live out here all by herself
“I’ll take you to my boat and make you dinner there. Maybe you can come back with me and the other cooks to the Baratie?”
“Thank you so much, Sanji. But I can’t leave I’m waiting for my father and brother to come back.”
“Okay… I understand. Here let’s go so I can start prepping everything for the most amazing dinner you’ll ever have.” Sanji said with a soft smile.
Sanji takes Riz by the hand and takes her back to his boat. The other cooks smile and softly laugh at the young kids. Making small remarks at how cute it was that Sanji had a girl with him. How cute it was that they were holding hands as they made their way to the kitchen. That night Riz had the time of her life, she hasn’t had this much fun since the nights with her family playing games. Sanji and Riz laugh and talked for hours, Sanji even let Riz take his bed for the night. The next morning Sanji was off to the Baratie, Rizzo’s heart broke a little that day. She hopes that one day she would see her only friend once again.
Riz had made it to her spot, she begins to perform a performance of a lifetime. Doing everything she knows how to do; she had learned a few new things over the years. Riz loved to perform, she was able to show all types of people her amazing tricks. Little did she know, she caught the eye of someone she would never guess would look at her twice. There stood Buggy The Clown watching the nineteen year old woman perform quite the show. He stayed until she was done with her performance and walked up to her.
“Hey kiddo, you did quite an amazing job out there.” Buggy says to the unknown woman
“Oh hey, thanks! I try really hard to put on a great show.” She turns around and gives a big smile. Slowly her smile drops, realizing who was talking to her.
“Y-you are Buggy… Buggy The Clown. I’ve seen your wanted poster all around town.”
“Why yes, yes I am and let me say kid, you got a flashy act and I would love you to join my crew and I.”
“You want me to be a pirate with you? But what would I do?” Riz says with confusion in her voice.
“You’ll be a part of an even bigger show and an even flashier act. You’ll get to sail the seas and see all kind of things”
“Really!? I can finally leave this God forsaken town?” Riz couldn’t hide her excitement.
“So, what do you say, kid?” Buggy asked with one of his eyebrows raised
“I’m in! And the name is Rizzo, but you can call me the Smiling dog.” She smiled once again, in the back of her mind she couldn’t stop thinking of finding her father, and brother, and maybe even reconnecting with Sanji.
