What would it take for you to reach your limit
"I'm a pretty easy going person. I try not to take things too seriously and anger isn't an emotion that has space in my life. But if my safety is being threatened or those I care about are in danger, that's when I hit my limit. It's happened before and I fear the day that it may happen again. I don't want to hurt anyone else."

anyone catch your eye?
“Oh wow. You're really putting me on the spot here. Honestly, I'm shocked that Beacon Hills doesn't have a modelling agency with the amount of beautiful people we have walking around town - someone new catches my eye on the daily. But I guess if I really had to pick someone, I'd say either Edward or Diana have caught my attention a little. They're both like supernaturally gorgeous."

The witch was surprised to come face to face with the service dog as she sat upright. A tender expression crossed her features, a huge grin spreading across her lips - she adored animals. "Okay, the fall was worth it just to meet this good boy," Max smiled, taking the man's hand as she got to her feet. "What's his name?" She quickly brushed off the dirt that had smeared across her jeans as best as she could with her hands, noting a small graze on her palm from where she'd broken her fall. "Oh, I'll be fine. I've had worse tumbles, believe me. I've got the curse of clumsiness so I've gotten used to having to pick myself off the ground."

Hikaru heard something fall but he didn't see a thing. Maybe Gundam did but not him. The kitsune adjusted his sunglasses. "Just for that, I will tell the nearest priest or rabbi." Hikaru said sarcastically. He held out his hand. "You alright though?" He asked in a serious tone.

The library was one of Max's preferred places to visit in town, whether she was looking to borrow yet another book to sink her teeth into or just seeking a peaceful place to sit and work on her artwork. The young witch had been curled up in her favourite spot (the oversized beanbag chair in the corner by the large window near with the perfect light to either read or draw) studying a tome on charms she'd acquired from the apothecary where she worked when her gaze briefly lifted from the pages to eye the clock on the opposite wall. 9pm. Closing time. Gathering her things, Max spotted the blonde sleeping at a nearby table, partially obscured by the large book that stood upright on the desk in front of her. Giving the girl a slight nudge to rouse her from her slumber, Max chuckled lightly at her response. "It's okay, I can keep a secret," the brunette smiled, shooting the other female a friendly wink. "See that beanbag by the window? I've fallen asleep over there more times than I can count. Something about this place is so soothing, I always have the best naps here." She shifted her backpack onto her shoulder and nodded in the direction of the clock. "Anyway, sorry to wake you. Just wanted to let you know it's time to clear out. In my experience, it's best to disappear before the head librarian starts making her final rounds. That is one scary lady."

beacon hills community library, with her nose buried in a book, was a rather traditional setting to find juniper. but, there was a different subject material on her mind recently. dreams. or, more specifically, her own. with her having magic, the blonde found herself wondering if there was something more to the recurring dream that kept invading her mind whenever she shut her eyes, and she needed to know what it meant, whether it was a warning or whether it was just coincidence. juniper was clearly enthralled in her reading, so much so that she'd managed to fall asleep with her head on the desk, hidden behind an upstanding book. a light nudge to her shoulder roused the witch, and a soft snore left her as she sprung up right in her seat. "i wasn't asleep you were asleep.." the girl mumbled through the words rapidly then raised a hand to quickly wipe her face, hoping that she hadn't drooled on any of the pages beneath her. thankfully, her chin was drool free. "oh, hi!" juniper chimed, seeing the person who had nudged her.

"I can't say religious texts are my cup of tea exactly, but I can appreciate the sentiment behind wanting to learn more about morality," Max nodded, her thoughts drifting back to her time with the Moores and their instance that she abide by their strict religious doctrine and hunter code whilst under their roof. Since escaping the Moore home after their discovery of her true nature, Max hadn't touched a religious book, instead favouring grimoires and spell books over the Bible as she embraced her witchcraft. "Well, if you ever wanna read something with a bit more excitement, I have a book collection that rivals the Beacon Hills Library. And I wont make you pay any late fees if you forget to return something," she offered, shooting the red head a wholesome smile. "Oh! I'm Max, by the way."
Tumblr media
jessica's eyes lit up as she listened to the other girls enthusiastic words. she nodded in agreement, her timidity gradually melting away in the warmth of their shared passion for books. "that sounds real exciting...the only books in my home are religious, my folks want to focus on a more morals based life for us all....but...that sounds far more excitin'." she admitted with a small smile.

Riding her bike through the park, Max was enjoying the golden sunshine warming her skin as it splintered through the canopy of red and orange trees that lined the path. She appreciated the sounds of nature that echoed around her; a chorus of birds singing, the slight breeze whistling in her ears and the crunch of fallen leaves beneath her bike’s wheels. It was the perfect October morning. Relishing the peaceful moment, Max found herself closing her eyes briefly, a blissful smile upon her lips, but now unable to see the large branch that lay upon the path ahead. The front wheel of her bike collided with the obstacle, knocking Max off balance and jolting her from her reverie as she tumbled to the ground, right at the feet of someone on a bench nearby. “Let’s just pretend you didn’t see that,” she cringed, looking up at the other as she awkwardly got to her feet.

"Sounds like we balance each other out nicely - I don't think I have a competitive bone in my body," Max chuckled lightly as she rose from the stool where she'd been sat and approached the other female. "I'm Max, by the way," she held out her hand, a sweet smile on her lips. "What are you drinkin'?"
Tumblr media
a soft laugh left dianas lips, nodding in response to the other womans comment. ❝ ok, fair enough. points were made. we can just.. continue getting drunk, take turns on rounds and have a good time. probably for the best, im a little too competetive anyways. ❞

As the male's hands came up to grip around the werewolf's neck, Max winced, jerking her head to one side and squeezing her eyes closed, knowing what was to come next. The sickening crunch of bone made the witch feel nauseous - it was a sound that instantly brought her back to one of the worst days of her life. Hearing the other's low voice address her, she peeled her eyes open and turned her gaze to face him, an apparent sadness clouding her features. "I had it under control," she uttered, still in shock, her voice barely more than a whisper. Telekinetic energy still crackled at her fingertips from mere moments earlier when she had been forced to unleash her magic to defend herself before the blonde had leapt into the fray. "Did you really need to kill him?" Max asked, voice quivering and tears beginning to well up in her eyes as she knelt beside the fallen werewolf, placing a gentle hand on his chest. "He couldn't help himself."

with his uncanny speed and unyielding determination, jasper found himself entangled in a fierce battle with a formidable werewolf. the moonlight cast eerie shadows on their figures as they clashed, each a testament to their supernatural strength. with a swift and calculated move, jasper seized the moment, his quick reflexes and battle training allowing him to anticipate the wolf's every lunge. within a split second, he managed to twist the creature's neck with a sharp crack, the sound echoing through the dark forest. as the life drained from the werewolf's eyes, jasper looked up, an almost franticness in his eyes that rarely showed itself. "you shouldn't be out here alone." he said shortly, his voice low as he looked to the shocked onlooker that had been close to coming to an end from the werewolf's fangs.

“Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t realize how late it was,” the brunette apologized after checking the time on her watch, mentally scolding herself for not only bothering the woman at this hour but for so openly flouting the rules of the curfew. Whilst Max didn't wish to be cooped up inside on such a beautiful evening - the pale blue moon hanging low in the sky, illuminating the town with its ethereal glow, had tempted her outside at the late hour with the hope of capturing its rare beauty in the pages of her sketchbook - she also didn't want to get in trouble for ignoring the police restrictions.
“I was just looking for my watercolour pencils. I was sketching in here earlier this afternoon and when I got up to leave, I tripped and everything fell out of my bag as I went down,” Max explained with a sheepish chuckle, her cheeks flushing a soft red with embarrassment. She’d always been a little on the clumsy side; it was typical for the witch to trip over her own feet or bump into things, and she was almost always sporting a bruise or two. “I thought I’d managed to pick up all of my stuff but I must’ve left my pencils behind. I didn’t realize until now otherwise I would’ve come back sooner. I’m so sorry to intrude!”

Esme let out a breath, she had heard the stories of this town, but she still had decided to bring her children here for a new life. She had gotten a job as a bartender, and was currently cleaning up after a messy individual had left and she was closing up for the night, knowing that there was a curfew. She was in her own world thinking about her kids, not noticing someone had walked in, she finally sensed someone was there "we are just closing up" she responded and looked up at who it was.

"Hmm, are you sure about that?" Max continued to playfully feign uncertainty whilst Ryan took the stack of treats from her hands, brows pinching together as she assessed the male's appearance. "The Ryan I know is usually way scruffier," she teased, dropping her dubious act and leaning over to slightly ruffle his brunette waves, beaming mischievously. "That's what I'm here for - to deliver sweet treats and caffeinated beverages whenever you heart desires." The witch fell into step beside her companion as he led her over to the spot by the window that they'd claimed as theirs. It was the perfect nook to enjoy each other's company without raising their voices to a level that would disturb the library's other patrons, or to simply sit in comfortable silence with one another whilst separately diving into the pages of a book. “Unless you’re a fan of coffee that’s more sugar than caffeine, I’d recommend you take this cup,” Max grabbed the coffee cups off the top of the donut box once she'd sat down, holding one out to Ryan before picking up the other and taking a sip of her overly sweet drink; a peppermint mocha with extra whipped cream, her favourite. "So it's been quiet around here today? I would've expected there to be way more visitors since the newcomers got to town. I guess people in Mystic Falls just don't read all that much."
Tumblr media
ryan was pleasantly surprised when he saw max browsing the books in the library. her presence always added a touch of excitement to his otherwise quiet workdays. as she approached with coffee and donuts, he couldn't help but return her grin with a warm smile. "well, funny you should mention it," ryan replied with a chuckle, setting the book he'd been about to shelve on a nearby cart. "i happen to know that guy you're looking for, and he's right here." he gestured to himself with a playful grin. accepting the stack of treats with gratitude, ryan said, "you're a lifesaver, max. this place was starting to feel a bit too quiet today. coffee and donuts are just what I needed." the male then directed her to a couple of chairs near the window, their spot, taking a seat, he then smiled over at her. ryan couldn't help but feel grateful for max's friendship. she'd always had a knack for brightening his days, and her unexpected visits were always a welcome break from the routine of shelving books and organizing the library.

"They really do! I love when a book is able to just sweep you away to a different place or time and forget about your everyday life." An eager grin spread across Max's lips. She slid her bookmark back between the pages of The Shining before placing the closed book on the table in front of her, happy to have the opportunity to discuss books with a fellow reader. "I've re-read every Steven King book at least three times. Even though I know what's going to happen, I still get so tense every time I turn the page. I just lose myself completely in the story that he's woven."
Tumblr media
jessica's timid smile widened slightly as she listened to max's apology. she shook her head gently, her auburn hair swaying with the motion. "oh, theres need to apologize at all," she replied softly. "i understand completely. nooks have a way of pulling you in, don't they? it's a good sign you're enjoying it."

She nodded softly as he spoke, noting the male's distaste for the seasonal trend. "I can appreciate that. Honestly, even I get a little sick of it by the time Christmas comes around. It's like there's nothing they won't try to make a pumpkin version of now; last year, I saw a pumpkin spiced cheese at the grocery store," the witch scrunched up her features, wrinkling her nose in disgust, before relaxing as a light musical laugh pealed from her lips. "I'm Max, by the way. Always a pleasure to meet a fellow lover of Fall."
Tumblr media
He took a moment before chuckling softly at the ladies remark. Such trivial human things, something Edward did not quite understand, but he appreciated the happiness it brought her. "I can't say I get the pumpkin spice trend." He laughed a little, tilting his head. "It is certainly a nice time of year -- I personally enjoy the darker nights." Allowing both him and his family to roam and be themselves, something they did not often get.

"Isn't it great? The perfect weather for staying inside and enjoying a movie marathon or a good book," the witch responded to the stranger with a friendly smile, delicate hands curled around a coffee of her own; her first spiced latte of the season. "Not to mention everywhere now has pumpkin flavoured everything," Max wiggled her coffee cup slightly for emphasis.

"You can tell winter is approaching, these dark nights are certainly here." He turned to face the other, weakly smiling whilst I gently cradled his coffee. He was making an attempt at normality. He did not tend to blend in well, normally being seen as different or obscure. However, he was keen for a fresh start and did not wish to jephodise that.

When Max had decided to settle in Beacon Hills three years prior, her heart had practically soared when she'd learnt that the town had a library that wasn't just a dilapidated building that had become a rundown eyesore like in so many other small towns she'd encountered. She'd been a lover of the written word since childhood, always preferring to curl up with a novel and escape into far off lands rather than play with the other children in the various group homes she'd been moved between. It was at the library where Max had initially met Ryan; she'd clicked with the fellow bookworm almost instantly and they'd developed a fast friendship. The male was the first person to make Maxine feel like Beacon Hills could truly be home for her.
Two steaming cups of coffee sat in a paper holder, balanced atop a box of freshly made donuts from a local bakery that Max carried in her right hand as she made her way into the library. It had been a quiet morning for the young witch and, after spending a few hours trying and failing to master a new potion recipe she'd come up with, she'd decided to pay Ryan a surprise visit in the hopes of alleviating her boredom. Her mission was almost immediately waylaid, however, when she spotted several books on the 'New Releases' shelf that hadn't been there on her previous visit. She used her free hand to turn the books around and read the summaries on the back covers, briefly forgetting all about her reason for visiting the library as she got excited about her next possible literary adventure - until she heard a familiar voice sound from behind her.
"I would love some help," Max turned around to face her friend as she spoke. "I'm looking for a young man who looks exactly like you, sounds just like you too, who also happens to work at this very library - have you seen him around?" she feigned a querying look, raising one brow slightly, before breaking into a grin. “Special delivery,” the witch announced, gripping the stack of baked goods and coffees with both hands and lifting it up slightly to show Ryan that the treats were for them both to share.
Tumblr media
ryan's job at the local library was one of the few opportunities he had to interact with people, considering it was perhaps the only time he left the lab. on a particularly quiet afternoon, he was shelving books, meticulously organizing them according to their classification. the library had a calming ambiance, filled with the faint rustling of pages and the occasional whispered conversation among patrons. it was peaceful. as he reached up to place a book on the top shelf, he noticed someone browsing the nearby bookshelves. curiosity got the better of ryan, and he decided to approach the other. clearing his throat softly, he then spoke, "excuse me, can i help you find something specific?"

The young witch had been so engrossed in re-reading her copy of The Shining that she hadn't noticed the waitress approach the table until she spoke. Hearing the other female's voice, Max immediately lifted her gaze from the pages of the book. "Oh! Yes, I'd love one. Thank you." Max offered her a sheepish smile. "I'm so sorry, were you waiting there long? When I'm reading a good book, it's like the whole rest of the world just kinda fades into the background."
Tumblr media
jessica knew that she came off reserved, her upbringing would cause anyone raised in such a way to be so - but she had found herself an unusual but perfect role at beacon hills coffee shop. she'd taken up the part time job to reassure her parents that it was good honest work that would help them pay the bills, one that wasn't lewd or dangerous in any way.
it was worrisome, knowing her parents eagle eye would be watching her, but the young girl often greeted the customers with a timid smile, her auburn hair tucked neatly behind her ear. offering a refill became her moment of courage each day, as she approached tables with a gentle demeanour, a small smile on her lips as she asked the customer "need a refill there?"
