florawhitehorn:
Flora smiled at his enthusiasm, it was definitely not something she expected. Most of her friends had grown up at Greenwood, so they weren’t as amazed by the lore and history of the school like Max was. “You’ll have to keep me updated on your case then. Maybe the school paper will even interview on it too.”
The Deas wasn’t quite sure what it was about the nymph that pulled her in so much. Maybe it was his laissez-faire attitude or the genuine enjoyment Max had for his environment. Either way, she was more than willing to spend more time with him. “You would? Well then I’ll have to take you up on that offer!”
An interview? Man, this girl had connections. He learned more from this conversation than from the previous lessons at Greenwood. Guessing he could learn more from her, and maybe even have a companion for his many adventures. He bursted with energy, wanting to explore right away, to set up a new group outside of school activities that could go on adventures every weekend. “The school paper? Oh, wait, I think my ego would grow to much if I got an interview. Are you by any chance boss of this particular newspaper?”
He liked Flora, she was cool. Of course, he’d had little interaction with people around campus to actual have a good idea of what people there were, and he was used to liking almost everyone, on a whim. He believed people were nice, people were good, and he tried always to make people like him. “You of course! And please do! I’ve been running around this place alone for the past week. My mom believes I’ve made two friends here, one I called Bob, the other Fred. I don’t have the stomach to tell her I haven’t made any friends yet,” he said, not with sadness, but with a sort of amusement for his situation.
Okay, he had made one non-friend, the guy he was sharing his dorm room with. But that person aside, he was sure that if he found some way to talk to everyone, he could most certainly make them into friends.

kyetaewon:
“Pleased to meet you as well, Max Pavic.” Kye answered, bowing at 45 degrees, a habit so deeply ingrained in his mind since he was a child that it had become an automatic response.
Once again, he was taken by surprise. Max’s reaction was unexpected to say the least, but in a positive way. The older boy was very lively and friendly, something he wasn’t used to (Of course, with his lack of experience in the interacting with others department, there wasn’t much Kye was used to.) He stumbled when the other smacked his shoulder; unaware of the page that slipped out of his book during the second it took him to regain his balance. He listened carefully; his eyes filled with wonder. “Your family taught you everything? You had a library inside your house? That sounds wonderful.” He commented, picturing in his mind what it would be like to choose what you wish to learn. The situation was like something out of a dream, so good it was hard to believe it was true. But he trusted Max’s words.
However, there was one thing that didn’t make sense to the young dragon, and he fidgeted for a moment, eyes downcast, before daring to make the question. “If you don’t mind me asking, then why did you choose to come here?” He said curious, before hurrying to explain himself. “I-I mean, it seems like you enjoyed being homeschooled very much. Why joining Greenwood now?” His words came out softly, but at least he managed not to stutter more than one time. He counted it as progress. Just a little bit.
Max loved the bowing, it looked ridiculous, which was why he loved it. This wasn’t a regular student, that much he noticed, maybe some parental thing.
When Max friendly and gently smacked Kye’s shoulder, he seemed to fall forward almost, not too strong on his feet either. But he was a nice guy, that much he could say for sure. His eyes lingered to where a page of Kye’s notebook had fallen, and he fell back right away to pick it up, looking it over as he caught up with the Dragon again. He studied it as he answered, a bit distracted because: wow, this was some good stuff. Damn, this was beautiful! He wished he could draw like this. A bit dark on the subject matter, but wow, impressive. “Yeah, not a big library or anything, but lots of books with a looooot of different subjects. Pretty interesting.”
The new question had Max not paying attention to the drawing anymore, which Kye hadn’t figured was in his hands, before he sort of walked behind the boy instead of right next to him. “Ugh, difficult to say. My dad says that if I want to go far in the world, then I should be making friends and allies and learn more than just what my mom knows. He send my older sister away too, I guess he’s right somehow, and I like the challenge. No clue why now, I think he wanted us all out of the house. I have two more sisters, we can be a hand full.” He grinned, then remembered the paper, and handed it back to Key. “You dropped this btw. It’s amazing!”

She couldn’t stop the snort from coming out of her mouth. Flora’s hand jumped up to her mouth to try and cover up any more laughter. “It could be that. It wouldn’t be the first time a teacher lied to a student. Maybe they just wanted keep from having a campus panic?”
The Deas felt a little less awkward about her distraction with his admission. Her smile softened and she tilted her head slightly, “They hold a lot.” Her gaze went past his form, towards the woods that were spread behind him, marking the edge of the campus. “I guess being the Deas of the Forest means its my job to figure that out, huh?” She gave a soft chuckle as her eyes went back to Max, “Definitely an adventure.”
“Exactly!” Max pointed his finger to the sky, as if he had concluded the truth within a matter of seconds and was no completely sure that there was a swamp monster. Though, swamp monster or not, Max sure was going to explore the swamp. “I think they thought blaming it on the teacher would keep everyone from looking to closely at the case. I’m going to find out the truth!”
He smiled brightly as he watched Flora once again distracted by the image behind him of the woods that invited people into their dark depths. It was easy to forget things just by looking at the strange darkness that called him to adventure. “As a Nymph of the Forest, I would gladly offer my assistance,” he said, with a small bow. Of course he meant it. Adventure was in his nature, he didn’t need to be a Nymph to feel that rush of adrenaline even at the thought of it.

florawhitehorn:
She recognized the mischief look that Max held. It was all too similar to that of her brother’s roommate Brodi. Holding off a chuckle, Flora took a glance towards the general direction of the swamp. “Rumor has it that there’s a swamp monster.” The brunette couldn’t hold off any smile, “But that’s just a campus legend of the one time a chameleon teacher turned into an alligator.”
Flora laughed at his joke, tilting her head up slightly towards the sky, her eyes fluttered at the bright rays beating down at her. “I don’t think I could ever give up this sun, though. It’s beautiful here. It’s like…you can feel your soul growing as you stand outside.” She blinked as her eyes gazed back at the boy beside her. “Sorry,” she said sheepishly, “I got a little caught up in the moment there.”
Max looked a bit disappointed as Flora shared the secret of a possible legend and the true reason behind it. However, he wasn’t going to believe it that easily. “But what if there really is a swamp monster,” he offered her with a slight grin. “Maybe the teacher was lying.”
He smiled at her as she admitted to being distracted by the bright rays. “Oh, don’t mind me, I do that all the time,” he said, pretending for a moment that a bird caught his attention and throwing his head back to follow its imaginary flight. Then he snapped back to her. “It’s okay here, bit hot, that’s all. But the woods around here are filled with secrets and legends and mysteries yet to be solved! Gotta give it to this place: it’s offering a lot of adventure.”

clementinefae:
“Fine.” she huffed, brushing her hair behind her ears. She could hardly make herself care right now if Max came back to risk their own hide later on exploring, she just knew that she didn’t want to be here anymore, and if she didn’t want to be somewhere she wasn’t about to let anyone else make her stay, especially not this kid.
“Yes, please,” she said tersely. She was trying to turn her chair around, but one of the wheels was caught in a divot in the stone, and she couldn’t move very much.
Max sighed, ignoring the chill as he pushed against the wheelchair noticing the suspense with the road. Oh man, he was feeling worse and worse about bringing Clementine here. He wanted her to join the adventure but he guessed wheelchairs weren’t the best vehicles. Next time he needed to arrange her a hoverboard. If she would ever want to join him again, though. He couldn’t imagine she would. He probably fucked it up badly.
The sound of a wheel emptying air suddenly cut through the chill wind. Horrified, Max stopped the wheelchair and bent forward. “Shit! I think I tore it, I”m so sorry!” He said grimly as he tried to figure out where the hole was.
He hadn’t in fact slashed the wheel on the stone, the sound wasn’t coming from the wheelchair at all, it was coming from the tunnel that lay behind them. The light sprung on again.

clementinefae:
“A fucking terrible idea is what it is!” she snapped at him, turning to glare at him. Eugh, this was so stupid! Why were they chasing down creepy lights in creepy dark caves? “Let’s go back. I don’t think I can push my chair any further. I kind of think it’s stuck.”
Max looked totally horrified. He had been completely excited for one moment, and then completely disappointed the next. He was going to shout back at her, but she looked so slumped in that wheelchair, and he had already pushed her along so far that for a moment he just stood there, unable to make a decision. He was... quite frankly... very horrified, very nervous, very confused. Parts of him wanted to find a monster with headlights, part of him wanted to go back with her. But either way, he had no idea what words he had to use to express his dilemma.
He shone his flashlight back into the dark cave where minutes before there had been lights. “Ugh, okay, fine! I’ll have to explore this cave an other time,” he finally said. “Need help getting out of the cave?” he asked, in a way he might as his mom if she needed help doing the dishes - which he liked doing.
Just as he walked back towards her, he felt a cold wind push towards them, sending a chill down his spine.

“I dunno,” Clementine muttered, frowning a bit and gripping her chair. She didn’t really think heading towards this thing was the best plan, as much as she liked adventure. Maybe if she was still all pumped up, she’d go for it, but by now… the promise of adventure at fizzled out, and she was hesitant.
“You know what? I think I just realized what this is.”
Max turned around quickly, he had just been intending on going forward to see what they were up against when the least expected thing happened: Clementine might know what it was. He was all ears. “What!? What is it?!” He said, his voice low, if there was a monster, it might hear him.

kyetaewon:
Kye remained quiet, comfortable with the silence that settled around them. Lost in thought, he startled when he heard the boy laughing, his surprise quickly replaced by mortification when he realized hi mistake. “Oh my- I’m s-so sorry.” He said instantly, bowing his head as apology for disrespecting his senior.
The young dragon looked up, another apology in the tip of his tongue when he found the junior grinning as he explained his situation. Oh. He didn’t seem bothered, which eased Kye’s nerves. “I am Kye. Kye Tae-Won.” He introduced himself instead, offering a shy smile in return. “You were homeschooled before?” He asked, the curiosity getting the better of him. The dragon couldn’t imagine what it would be like. Did your parents teach you everything? Or teachers go to your house? He mused, before realizing how it must have sound. “Ah, how intrusive of me, I’m sorry. You don’t have to answer.” He added, looking down bashfully.
Max simply ignored the apology, thinking it some deep-rooted part of someone’s personality that he didn’t want to shoot down - honestly he had no idea how to react to it. Saying “you have nothing to be sorry about” seemed odd especially since Max had no clue what the boy was apologizing for. He just smiled, which grew wider with Kye’s introduction and reply with a smile, though shy. “Nice to meet you, Kye.”
Just before Max got the chance to enjoy talking about his time as a homeschooler, Kye apologized again and stated that he didn’t have to answer the question. “Are you crazy, do you know how long I’ve been walking around here wanting someone to ask me that? Very few people seem to want to know why I only entered Greenwood as a Junior. They probably think... I got transferred,” he said, as if it was a bad thing.
He smacked Kye on his shoulder as he went into a short recalling of his home-schooled life. “I was indeed homeschooled. It was awesome. My uncle taught us stuff, and then my mom taught us some more stuff. Mostly history and geography, oh and animal studies and such, and we had this huge library with all kinds of subjects, so she left us for the afternoon to go crazy and find something we found interesting ourselves. Learned more there than a school ever could teach me, only because I choose what to be taught.”

clementinefae:
Clementine was having a very bad time. If her wheelchair was fucked up after this, she was going to make him get her a new one. She sighed, rolling her eyes and giving him an irritated look.
“I’m pretty sure monsters don’t come with headlights.” she scoffed.
“You’re pretty sure,” Max said, thoughtfully shaking his head as he approached the light up ahead. “In horror movies, that’s never a good sign.” He hadn’t seen many horror movies, but he was sure they would use that sentence to show pending danger.
Then suddenly the lights went out, and Max, surprised, stumbled backwards, on his bum. The flashlight kicking in his chest and the light of it disappearing against his shirt for a few seconds, before he held it up again. “It blinked!” he whispered forcefully.

Clementine still couldn’t believe she had let herself get roped into this, but she sighed, taking a deep breath before beginning to roll her way down the tunnel. It was really bumpy, and all the jostling was hurting her teeth and starting to give her a headache. But she kept going anyway.
Max had to give it to her: she was a go-getter. Despite not being able to keep up with him, and the road probably damaging her wheelchair, she kept behind him and followed him as he explored the cave. He really hoped, at least for their journey, that they came upon something awesome. Suddenly he saw light up ahead. He looked back at Clementine and grinned. “Light up ahead, what do you think? Monster with headlights?”

“Barely.” she grumbled, glaring at him irritably. “If we get lost and die, I’m going to fucking kill you, do you understand?” she huffed. “Just… pick a stupid fucking tunnel for us to go down already so we can go, would you?”
“Noted,” Max said with a smile, shining the flashlight on his face to make it look odd. He made a little bow and directed the two of them towards the larger of the two tunnels, hoping Clementine had more space. He knew that if the road got tough, they would have to turn, but he wanted to go as far as they could. “This way, miss.”

Clementine really wanted to hit him, but she resisted, just glaring at him and curling her lip.
“This place is creepy.” she hissed, looking around and shivering a bit. What was with all the animal bones? “How did you even find this place? And why did you drag me here?”
Max grinned even wider. “It is, isn’t it. Good creepy,” he added as he looked around and shone his flashlight everywhere. The cave continued in three separate ways, one going back. “I got lost, and stumbled upon it. But I didn’t go in yet... probably had class. And as I recall, you agreed to go on an adventure with me.” He pointed the flashlight towards one of the following tunnels. “Still interested?”

Max was laughing. He was so giddy to be on an adventure with someone else, someone who so reminded him of his sister, that he took everything she said as a jest. Max was easily convinced that other people knew his was joking, and being a boy - which sadly was true although he hated stereotyping - he had no clue either. “Oh really? I would love to see you try,” Max joked.
As the bats flew past, he saw that turning the flash light on was a horrible mistake, but well, the cave was empty now. So he pointed the light up at the ceiling. The cave was huge, the ceiling was about twenty meters high, and the hall they stood in wider than a classroom. The ground was littered with little animal bones, twigs and leaves. “What do you think: monster?” he asked with a grin.

Max couldn’t keep a grin from his face, she did remind him of Mary, and he couldn’t help getting more involved in name calling as they entered the cave and headed into the darkness. “Thank you. Best way to become a huge idiot is to hang out with jerks and fools, like yourself for instance.”
Luckily, Max always brought a flashlight him - you never knew when you got lost. He pressed the on button and looked up into a large cave hall, of course by accident waking up some annoyed bats - luckily no vampires.
Clementine scowled. “If you keep talking to me like that, I’m going to run over your foot, break your toes, and leave you here, I swear to god.” she snapped, bristling with annoyance. This was stupid. Why did she even follow this person, anyway?
“I wouldn’t–” she began to say, but not until after he had already clicked the flashlight on. She resisted a shriek as several of them swooped overhead and flew off, chittering loudly as they went. “… be careful with that, would you?”

Max grinned as he saw what his reaction had triggered. “I’ll probably regret it, but man, wouldn’t watching the sunrise every morning be much nicer in company with a lovely tune,” he said, throwing around some silent chords on his guitar. “As long as I don’t have to run,” he added quickly. “What time would I need to get to bed to rise like a beautiful flower every morning?” he asked, suggesting with his hands that he was talking about her. Not in a flirty way, just in a: I’m jealous I look like shit and you look like you can probably kick my ass twice; way.
He gaped at her, trying to decide if he was confident enough to play a song - a self composed song - on request. He then stared at his guitar. “Oh man... you know you’re asking a lot first conversation-wise, right? I’m very timid, obviously.” No, he wasn’t. He picked up his guitar, held the base close to his shoulder, and leaned over the sturdy wood, quickly the chords just flew from his fingers and tangled over the strings.
“What if the world came to whisper, A whisper to the world And the sun stayed up all night, To watch the day return
What if a man started talking his words in the wind Young children learning When would the day begin
Oh, what a strange world this would be and we’re living happily
Oh, what a strange world this would be But it would be heavenly.”
He paused, or more honestly, he was done. That was about it. Short, but only because he hadn’t figured out any more of the lyrics.
Sunrise Run | An open para
max-the-nymph:
Max laughed, she wasn’t serious was she? “You’ll have to wake me up yourself, I’m not a guy with acing time management. My life is a series of impulsive decisions and scoldings because I’m late,” he said as he continued laughing. The thought of himself waking up fresh every morning to see the sunrise was just too funny.
“Yeah, it’s dad music.” Compose? That was an odd word to use, but he loved it nonetheless. He would never use it to describe the scribbling he did on his guitar, but he might from now on. “I like to make up songs too.”
“What? Seriously?” Shan gave him an incredulous look, laughing as she took in all that the nymph had stated. “Buddy, I’m telling you, if you’re going to allow me to wake you up every single morning for the sunrise, you might either love it or regret it. It’s your choice.” The girl shrugged, a smile still lingering on her face. Max was quite a good conversationalist, and she liked that he was not self-restrained in conversations, though she has the ability to let people be comfortable and relaxed when needed. “That’s awesome. What’s your favorite self-composed song to sing?”

“Oh, come on you pussy!” Max called, waiting for her to catch up with him. “If we can’t go further, we’ll just go back, or I’ll drag you along. What’s an adventure if you know what’s coming! You obviously have a lot to learn!” For some reason - other than it being in his blood - he loved adventure, he loved being in the woods, and it gave him such a spurt of energy that he wasn’t able to sit still for at least the coming hour before having done something fun.
Clementine grit her teeth, absolutely glaring at Max. “Don’t be such a stupid dick, then.” she snapped in reply. But regardless, she jammed her chair forward hard to force it over the initial bump of stone and then began wheeling after him. It wasn’t exactly a smooth surface, and there was a lot of lurching and bumping, which was awful, but she kept going anyway, absolutely glaring at Max anyway. “You’re a huge idiot.”
