Im a top ice truther unfortunately

One little routine they take with them since post-86 is having massage oil around, generally something with a not too strong sent, because Ice likes to rub Mav's hands after a long day behind the cockpit.

They soon found the best position to indulge in this little ritual of theirs is with Mav resting against Ice's chest, both of them already in bed and comfortable to the point that, if one or both of them fall asleep, their backs won't hurt when they wake up all tangled together.

(It's not a one way street because Mav loves to spend hours massaging Ice's wrists even if he didn't write a single word all day.)

not to uhhh be that person but if you're writing icemav circa whatever-year-you-set Top Gun: Maverick in please please remember those men are old. they don't give a fuck about TikTok. maverick has a private Instagram with nine followers that he only got so he could follow Bradley. His most recent post is of a sunset he took on a bike ride with the caption #WestCoastBestCoast. Ice would have nothing except the public COMPACFLT accounts someone (under thirty-five) in his office runs for him. Their relationship is still reeling from the introduction of Wordle.

Soviet!Ice Headcanons

I've decided to do a little follow up, hope you enjoy!

Born as Toma Efimovich Kazansky in Odessa, Ukraine

His favorite food is his babushka's borscht and likes to drink more kvass than he should on a daily basis

He and his family left the Soviet Union in 1973, when he was 14 years old

Settled in New York, since it has a large Jewish population

Because of the Soviet Union's disapproval of religions (especially Judaism) he wasn't able to have a proper Bar Mitzvah, so his family quickly joined a shul so he could have one

Being Jewish in America was a strange experience for him- everyone knew how to read the funny looking words in the siddur but he couldn't, since he never learned Hebrew before coming to America. Even amongst Jews he still felt like he didn't fit in because of his background

And also being a Soviet immigrant made him stick out like a sore thumb among his classmates, who were suspicious of the new kid with the funny accent and last name. Over time, he learned how to speak English without an accent so he wouldn't be bullied

Many people have called him slurs. Over time, he figured it's best not to show any emotion. This is one of the reasons why his callsign became Iceman

The other one being that because he speaks Russian, people assume him to be incredibly stoic and completely void of any emotions

Few people know he speaks Russian. Only Slider does, and later, Maverick. Most people who meet him immediately notice the Jewish last name but don't realize right away that he speaks a different language

Preferred to hide his Jewish practices from pretty much everybody. He still observed, but only in private. The only two people he truly felt comfortable enough to open up about this were Slider and Maverick

(not so much Soviet but more Jewish, he and Mav get married under a chuppah much later in the future)

Do you ever think that the day Ice takes the promotion that will ground him from the skies forever, he gets home to a still sleepy Mav, hugs him against his chest, and kisses him oh-so-sweetly before giving him his first pair of golden wings because "they won't be safe and sound with nobody else but you"? I do.

i think at some point in rooster’s adolescence, well after ice was pops (and therefore, bradley knew embarrasing shit about him) and not just his super cool uncle ice, he decided that he was going to get frosted tips after seeing a ‘86 pic of ice and realizing that that looks cool. of course because adolescence he tells no one that he wants this and probably does it locked in the bathroom with a bleach kit he snuck in the house from duane reed and when mav is like baby goose wtf are you doing there for so long rooster’s like, digestion problems!

anyway, rooster’s doing this for a while, and it’s like, huh, this isn’t so bad. except he probably screws it up in some crazy way since he’s a teenage boy and not a professional. he stares at himself in the mirror after he pulls off the towel. his hair is some unholy bleached highlighted white neon blonde. rooster contemplates staying in the bathroom forever.

he comes out a while later, goes downstairs and ice is doing whatever, idk maybe paperwork or sudoku because he’s ice and would do that but it’s probably Official Shit.

ice looks up, going to ask him what he wants for dinner except that he just stares at the unholy creation of rooster’s hair. he pinches the bridge of his nose.

“in all fairness,” rooster says, because even though mav’s not biologically related to him, he’s inherited his method of talking himself out of situations that are literally terrible, “you should’ve known this was coming, pops.”

what was he gonna do? say no?
