I’m so obsessed with the idea of the separation between the world of canon and an AU world where things could’ve been different— (hence my last jalph comic)
If you don’t know that I made them brothers in my AU, this is really confusing💀💀 but this comic was really just for my own enjoyment and indulgence, and I wanted you to see the work I was proud of! Uhh headcanon dump under the cut if you happen to be interested lol
Basically, the context is that in the LotF Academy world, instead of the massive fire that killed Mulberry Boy, there was a fire that burnt down his and Ralph’s house when Ralph was little. Ralph got out unhurt, but Mulberry was scarred from his chest down to his legs from the burns. This resulted in an odd obsession in Ralph with watching flames, and a strong fear of fire in Mulberry. This is also partially the reason their family is poorer than the rest of the cast (this has shown up in several comics further down in the past on this blog, but don’t look bc they’re really cringey).

thoughts about piggy as a character ☝️
I’m not going to run a whole analysis or ramble like an obsessed puppy on Piggy like I did with Maurice (I didn’t even mean to lol), so I’m just gonna tell you what I think about him.
Short story short, I think he’s the only one in the book (other than Ralph on a blue moon, and maybe Simon) with any thoughts in his head. I don’t remember liking him very much during my initial read of the book, but now, with my current read through, I really like him as a character in the novel. He’s earnest and well meaning, even if not everyone sees that about him. He has no malice toward anyone who didn’t already do something to him, and he’s honestly the perfect right hand man for Ralph, even if Ralph doesn’t fully appreciate him until it’s too late.
He has his head on straight and thinks realistically, and in a way, he snaps Ralph’s head straight too eventually. I really appreciate that about him, especially considering how young and sheltered he is. Ralph really needed Piggy, and he would’ve fallen apart way quicker without Piggy.
TLDR: he’s a good kid and also the only one with a fully functioning brain. He’s a very good character and does exactly what he was meant to achieve in the novel. He’s probably one of my favorite characters in the book! (after Maurice of course😉)
It's fun to imagine how he would feel if he knew how much love he gets from the fandom! (I know there are some outliers, but for the most part, Piggy is a pretty popular character!)
